We're in hotels while insurance takes care of some repairs on our house; we started at the Homewood Suites on Davis Drive and had to move when they couldn't extend our stay due to being fully booked. We have a family of seven spread out across two rooms. ||||There are some positives to this hotel over the other -- for a rate of $10 more, we have two queen beds instead of two double beds in each room, two bathrooms per room instead of one and a stove with four burners and an oven instead of two with no oven at the other hotel. OTOH, the rooms are more cramped here than at the other, and the kids are disappointed not to have Food Network or Animal Planet in this hotel. :-) In that regard, I'd call it a push between the two properties.||||However, we've run into some management issues in this hotel:||||* The insurance company has been making sure to ask the hotels to put our rooms close to each other; Homewood Suites was ready for us in that regard when we arrived, but whomever took the reservation from the insurance company for us forgot to notate that, and we started in two different buildings... the gentleman who checked us in told us that, if he'd known the day before, it would have been no problem to set the rooms up close by. That got resolved after about a week when the people here for the baseball tournament checked out... even then, we had a wait when one manager told us they'd have the new room ready after 3 PM, and the manager on duty that evening had no idea what my wife was talking about (the manager the following morning got us squared away). There are some communications issues here.||||* And, there's the issue in the title above. On weekends, the sign in the lobby states that breakfast is 7 AM to 10 AM. On our first Saturday, we came down at 8:30 AM, and the hotel was already running out of food; they had only enough breakfast biscuits left for our family and were out of several other items. On Sunday, we had learned our lesson and came down at 7:30 AM -- and they were already out of the refrigerated items. Today, I came down at 7:30 AM and saw everything well-stocked, but politely did not sweep up everything my kids would need and take it back to the hotel room. When I brought the kids down at 8:45 AM (remember, a full hour before breakfast closes), the breakfast biscuits were gone and the yogurt and juice were almost gone. It shouldn’t be a surprise that people want to take advantage of the free breakfast on weekends, and they know how many people are staying in the hotel, so it shouldn’t be hard to have enough food on hand to keep the breakfast stocked – but for the management here, it is. Once is an isolated instance, two is a coincidence… but three is an epidemic.||||That’s not enough for a one or two star review… but if you’re reading reviews to decide where to stay, I’d recommend the Homewood Suites on Davis Drive (down at Exit 8) over this property. We had no management issues at all during our stay there; in particular, they have no problem keeping a hot breakfast stocked until 10 AM...
Read moreIf I could give the this location 0 stars I would absolutely do so! The manager there is absolutely disgusting and a liar. I went down to extend my stay and she first of all began speaking over the employee who was trying to accommodate me. Then I realized my husband had the card so I proceeded to call him on the construction site for him to bring it . Mind you she’s stand there while I’m doing this giving me the nastiest look. So I got off the phone and told her “ he will be here in an hour” then I said is my room locked bc I have to do an online court appearance for my client (I’m an attorney) she then says really nasty “well we checked you out “ I said well can someone let me in bc I need to work my husband is in his way and all my things are in there. She then says” how long will it take” I said I just told you . Oh then she just went off saying that she can just check me out and not give me a reservation bc she felt I was being hostile then goes on to ask me if I understood what a reservation was and that I need to leave the property bc she feels I’m being aggressive. So that’s when I told her to call the cops bc I knew her employee next to her probably was intimidated by her but I can’t wait until those cameras are ran. So then when she was on the phone with the 911 operator she lied again saying that I was being aggressive in the lobby and wouldn’t leave! Now these are very strong allegations meanwhile I’m on the phone with a 911 operator and recording her entire lie! The cops came he spoke with her then me in which I explained to them what she said. He was very concerned and asked me was it to late for me to represent my client and I told him I passed it off to a colleague. He then said he was going back in to have her give me a couple of hours and that he wouldn’t have to escort me off because I wasn’t causing a scene at all. Even the cops scene through. Her horrible lie, to waste taxpayers dollars over a lie she should be ashamed and arrested! No report was made about me or anything but I plan on taking legal action against this location because I was humiliated, I lost money by missing work, I was lied on so bad even the cops didn’t believe it, and she placed my life in danger by making up that horrific lie. This person shouldn’t be able to work in the hotel industry ever again because for her yo think she has a right to abuse “ her position” is sick! I have yo say the woman who checked us in was AMAZING though she even came in our room and sprayed after I told her there was a very potent WEED smell in which she agreed as soon as she walked in! Now after that the nerve of this hotel to be so ridiculous when you have people smoking weed illegally but an honest working business woman you treat like this? No Iegal action will most...
Read moreTo Sonesta Suites: I am appalled. This hotel needs one super serious update. On the outside it may look appealing, but inside is much much worse. Considering the area and demographic of this hotel, one would think oh this is going to be a great place to rest. I had the displeasure of staying at this “hotel” if one would call it that. Let’s begin, the amount that was paid for this hotel was downright absurd. For the amount that was paid, it was felt that the floors should have been so clean one could eat from it, but that was not the case, if I were to eat from it I’m sure I’d get severely sick or contract some form of std from it. Next, this place should not pass itself off as a hotel. Instead it should be called just a regular apartment. I’m sure their live in residents take higher priority than incoming guests meaning Housekeeping and quiet hours. For all the days that we stayed, not once did housekeeping come to do anything. And I even mentioned it to the front desk about this issue, but still no housekeeping, no vacuuming, mopping, and definitely no dusting. I basically had to do their job this weekend. Next, a mysterious stain on the curtain. As this facility does allow pets, I feel that some rooms should be separated. I don’t know if it was smeared feces or what, but it was absolutely disgusting to see and was a shock when housekeeping didn’t come to change it out when I reported to the front desk and there were other guests hair still found in places in our bathroom . On top of that, our suite had an odor; likely due to a pet; because it smelled of urine. My allergies definitely let me know. We were given a “refresher” but the room went right back to its original smell. Pissy. Next, MOLD. There was so much mold in our bathroom I was disgusted. I’m glad Maintenance came the same day to clean it at least, but the job was half done as there was mold on the wall next to the toilet. Health hazard ⚠️. Next, upstairs tenants (I say tenants because (live in residents for some) they were so disrespectful. Stomping loud all through the night to morning. Filed a noise complaint, but they went right back to doing it. So again I say not a hotel because most hotels have it to where you don’t hear things like a herd of elephants is about to walk over you even though it’s just 1-2 people upstairs. Either way you’ll be woken up around 6-7 by stomps and crunching from above. And finally last but not least. I do appreciate a free breakfast and the cook who gets out of bed to cook it, but again the price you pay for. I found the breakfast to be lackluster, I’d rather go elsewhere for a complimentary breakfast. I 100% do not recommend this hotel. Unless you’re just looking for something cheap I guess . I will...
