Route 66 Inn — Hotel in Amarillo

We had a reservation here but were concerned when we saw the area it was in. We asked to look at one of the rooms (the doors were open because they were cleaning them). The manager refused to let us look in. All she wanted to do was go to the office and check us in. She was very rude as we tried to ask questions. As we were trying to decide, a shirtless man with his pants undone came shuffling out of one of the rooms carrying a plate. He went to the dumpster, dumped whatever was on the plate and shuffled back to his room. That decided it for us. When we told or story to the place we stayed, the clerks said Amarillo Blvd is one of the worst areas in Amarillo. Glad we decided not to stay. My friend had booked through Expedia so we called them. The person who told us she was manager told Expedia that the manager wasn't there - he was at a funeral and would be back the next day. Then later in the conversation with Expedia told them that the manager had a family emergency and wouldn't be back for 4 days. Not trustworthy! If I could give 0...

we stayed here once this summer, and we had a wonderful stay. this time, it was not as enjoyable but still good for the price. service can be hit or miss, either very efficient and welcoming or very apathetic and trying to rush me out the door so they themselves can leave. they also charged me slightly more than my booking stated and didn’t explain why.

it’s on the older side of Amarillo and the restaurants nearby, especially later at night, are limited. but it makes it very easy to get in and out of town, especially heading north.

our room was very cold when we arrived and we had to crank the heater for most of the night to get it to a comfortable temperature. and this is very minor, but our room last time had bedside lamps and our room this time did not have any additional lighting besides the main overhead light, which i thought was odd.

probably would stay again but may look at other options in...

SO RELIEVED TO LEAVE! Don't stay here for any reason! My family ordered two queen beds for a price gouge of $140 then the clerk states it was our fault that we didn't request two queens; though our payment shows for two queens. The door didn't latch, so it had to be bolted to close. The room had a stale odor. There were washing machines in the hallway amongst other trash. The unnecessary DIY speed bump was not to regulation and hit the bottom of our car as we were passing over it. It's located at a very noisy part of town with frequent police and ambulance sirens. After the complaint, the clerk told my husband that he'd only charge $40 instead of the $140, instead the clerk lied and only deducted $40. Such shameful business practice and no moral character on part of the clerk and inn. ||||However, if you're looking for an hourly hotel room, this is certainly the nicest hourly inn...
