I would not stay here again if my life depended on it. The experience was horrible but I tried to suck it up since it was my boyfriend's birthday.
When we first got there to check in, they didnt have our information. The itinerary stated to check in after two, so we came after two and they couldnt find my name in the system. So we had to wait about 40 mins. When we finally got a key, we realized we would have to drag our heavy bags up the stairs bc there was no elevator. We started walking to the designated room and instantly the air turned stale and smoky after walking passed a certain room number.
I assumed we were walking into the smoke zone because once we opened the door, it smelled like tons of people were in there smoking. Theres no way to air it out because the one window in the room could not open. I immediately went to the desk and she stated they had no more rooms. I honestly dont think she knew how to switch the rooms because another guy whispered something and then she said "Let me see what I can do". She ended up switching our room which was STILL in the smoke zone.
But this time the smell wasnt as strong so my boyfriend tried to calm me down and I agreed. We dropped our bags off and went for food and a movie. When we came back, I took a shower and noticed that there were dirty spots on the ceiling and door. This prompted me to inspect the room further. One of the beds were broken. I found that the metal frame was sticking out when I hit my ankle on it. The outlets behind the bed werent working properly. There were cobwebs on the lamps on the wall. The space where the floor n wall meet was unfinished.
And we got all of this for $130, which is absolutely ridiculous. For that price, I expected WAY more out of a "hotel" but instead we got an unsanitized one floor inn with no stairs or any type of safety/security measures. On top of all of this, they tried to come in our room at 9am the next morning, then 10am, then 11am to tell us its time to checkout, when in fact on the itinerary stated the checkout time was 12. The front desk lady said she kept calling and calling but only called once (I dont sleep through loud noises). When I woke up, my eyes were stuck together and my throat was on the verge of being dry/sore because of the smoky air. Since people were being pretty rude, I took my time during checkout because at that point, I've had enough. I called a few days after to speak with someone to work something out but no one answered.
I have tons of photos to back everything up but have no clue how to post them here. Moral of the story, stay far away...
Read moreSo my wife and I planned to stay at Washington DC for a few days, and this “lodge” if it can be named as is, was the closest to monuments and cheapest to stay.
We arrived at DC at 1 pm more or less, one hour early to our check in. We went to the front desk and ask the woman who was in charge there if we could do the check in early but she said that the system was down so we had to come back later.
One hour later (our check in time at 2pm), my wife went in and ask in the front desk if the room was ready, the woman told my wife that there was no room available at that time and she had to wait till one room gets free but she did not know how much time do we have to be waiting there despite it was hour check in time .But before she was about to leave, the woman on the front desk told my wife that there was one room available. So the thing is, we booked a room there a week ago, they knew we were coming and you have no room available for us?
When my wife went to check the room, she told me that the room was smelly and that it was dirty everywhere you could place your eyes on. Disgusting. When my wife told this to the front desk, the woman told her that she could give her an air freshener so the smell could get away. Excuse me, what?
After all this happened, my wife got back to the car where I was waiting this whole time, and my wife and I decided to search for another hotel to stay in. If I am honest, despite driving 15 hours straight and being so tired that the only thing I was looking for was a bed and nothing more, I did not want to stay there since the treat my wife received. We told expedia what happened and they “managed” to find a solution to all this, which was a refund of the 50% of total of 3 nights reservation. So this inn charged me 50% of what I paid for not staying in, and when they had no room for us. This is totally ridiculous.
If any of you, are coming to Washington DC, totally avoid this inn. All you gonna have there are problems, either with reservation or your room. Spend a little more and you won’t...
Read morePros: The place is very affordable. The front desk staff was really nice and friendly. The older man tried his best to make you feel comfortable being there and cracked jokes like he was your friend. The place has the basics like a TV, microwave, bed, bathroom, WiFi (complimentary lotions, towels, conditioner, and shampoo). Comfortable Beds Free parking Vending Machines
Cons: Old and outdated. Reminds me of the late 90s and early 2000s. Needs renovation... However it's not a bad place to stay if you need somewhere to crash for the night. The room felt claustrophobic for me as it was very tiny. Felt like a jail cell. The room smelt funky and wasn't very clean. There was small mold build-up in the shower and around the sink. Shower was luke-warm, didn't even get hot. I saw strands of someone else's hair on the bathroom floor when I first came in. Keep in mind I haven't even unpacked my stuff and just got there. The microwave smelt funky didn't rotate to fully warm up your food (the rotating mechanism was broken. I probably got unlucky and got a room with a bad microwave). The microwave had leftover thick black food residue stains at the bottom of it. I assume that's where the funky smell was coming from. Was not properly cleaned at all. I got a non-smoking area but the place still reeked of cigarettes/weed when you walked into the hallway. That's unacceptable when you specifically booked for a "Non-Smoking" area room. The walls are thin, so in the night you could hear noises of people walking in the hallways, and people making noises in other rooms, which can be annoying if you're trying to sleep... and creepy if you get scared easily.
Final Thoughts: Cheap, Friendly Staff, Not the cleanest, Old-Fashioned, Good location with lots of restaurants & activities. You get what you pay for. No disrespect but the whole place felt like something straight out of Five Nights at Freddy's. I advise not to stay longer than 1 or 2 days, book at your own risk. Good...
