Mattress Warehouse is a fantastic place to shop for a mattress and I highly recommend you go there first. Why? Years ago, my girlfriend bought a mattress from another store, and it was a horrible experience. She was taken advantage of and sold something that helped the saleswoman’s commission and not her needs. This time we wanted to do it right. My girlfriend and I had the absolute pleasure of working with Hicham, who isn’t just a “salesman” but rather a true mattress professional. He genuinely cares that you get the best mattress for your needs. He was patient and not pushy at all. More importantly, he was deeply knowledgeable about all the products available. Hicham will work with your budget and always seeks to maximize the value of what you purchase.

The story doesn’t end there. We purchased a Tempurpedic, which is a great product, but we got a “soft” density and that was not working for us and needed to switch the mattress. So we went back and encountered Seema who so kind and sweet. She suggested we go to the Bailey’s Crossroads store where they have the full line of all beds so that we can try everything before deciding, which we did. There we met with Savi, who is the District Manager, and right away it was clear why the sales staff is so good: Savi leads by example. Savi was patient, knowledgeable and so very helpful. He took a lot of time to help us narrow down which bed we would want for the exchange and sought to minimize all the costs associated with the exchange. He even used his relationship with Tempurpedic to waive the 30-day waiting period requirement for a mattress exchange. At this point Savi connected us with Amir who was put in charge of ensuring that we got the mattress as quickly as possible. Amir not only pushed the process from his end, but called us to give us updates and when the exchange was approved; he got us a next day delivery. Three business days is what it took in total to do the comfort exchange. The bottom is line is this, these people care about their customers, they sell sleep and they do a phenomenal job doing it. The service, the quality of product and the willingness to stand by their guarantees has earned them my highest recommendation.

As an aside, if you are in the market for a Tempur Pedic, take the time to go to the Bailey’s Crossroads store to try out the full range (so you can start in the Lee Highway store to get an idea if you are interested, but if you are serious, go try the full line). UPDATE: I'm knocking the review by two stars for delivery only. The delivery folks cut a hole in my old mattress so one person could carry it out- not bothering to utilize both delivery people as they could have without damaging the old one. This meant I couldn't refuse the delivery for any defects, because my old mattress was immediately trashed and unusable. The drivers handled my expensive mattress really roughly, tossing it on it's side several times and throwing the new box springs around roughly.

The side of the new mattress is lumpy due to the bottom layer of coils misaligning from being stored and thrown on it's side. The top layer of memory foam on the hybrid bed also shifted, so the top is uneven at the sides, but otherwise flat and functional. The bed itself is comfortable, but for a really expensive hybrid mattress, I'm worried about the longevity of the product if it's already got damage from the get-go.

At this point, the mattress is still comfortable, and we are evaluating asking for an exchange due to the rough handling. We were delivery number 14 of the day, so I understand if the drivers were in haste and overworked, but I expect more gentle care out of furniture delivery.

The delivery drivers also missed the delivery window and were late (which, really should be expected from any furniture delivery. Northern Virginia is congested and has unpredictable traffic).

We still think Himar is amazing and the shopping experience with him was fantastic, but the delivery experience is really lacking.

This is a story of an impulsive buy, but also one of a good service that I couldn’t turn away. My overall experience was great! I woke up from a nap on Friday evening with shoulder and back pain and that was the final straw. After my nap, I walked downstairs from my condo and directly across the street into Mattress Warehouse. I told Joe (the salesman) I had no interest in buying a mattress that night, I was just stopping in to see about their black Friday deals. Without being pushy, Joe walked me through his inventory and spent a good hour with me while I tested several beds. He was really informative and suggested that I go home and do some research before making a decision. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever dealt with a salesperson who hasn’t tried to push me to buy right then and there-it was quite refreshing to have him encourage me to make a smart decision. I did as he said and went home and did some research. Within 30 minutes I knew exactly what I wanted and walked right across the street and told him I was ready to buy (I’m sure he wasn’t expecting that to happen). He gave me a great deal on a Tempur-pedic mattress (floor model so he could give me the Black Friday discount). And since my apartment was literally across the street, he helped me carry the mattress across the street into my building. Talk about some service!
