Just left a message on the Wyndham Resorts & Hotels online site. We have stayed in multiple, various hotel brands within the Wyndham portfolio AND many other La Quinta locations..... I have NEVER stayed in one as disgusting, dirty and run down as this one!!!
A family member is in the nearby St. David's Hospital and so we stayed here with other family members for ease of access. After being checked in, we drove around to the back where our rooms were located (ours being #236), we were shocked and horrified that it looked like a creepy, rundown, dirty crack house! Presentable on the front, nightmare in the back! It was already a winter evening so it was dark at 6:30pm and the local homeless were walking about on the sidewalk on the other side of the literally 3ft high "security" gate. Heading upstairs to the rooms, we found the stairs and handrails grimy, dirty and looking like it was probably the origins of Covid-19 itself. Entire facade was gross, horrendous and falling apart (wood decking above rotting), filthy/dirty door frames and sashings, bad outdated lighting, unsanitary crusted looking ice machine....and that was just the outside! Inside felt like I stepped back in time warp to a 1980's subpar, dirty motel. And VERY basic. No mini fridge or microwave. Bathroom was beyond atrociously gross!!! Dirt in every crevice, rusted and dirty vent register, peeling shower rod....the toilet rocked every time it was sat upon and when getting off. Too grossed out to try and shower. The bathtub mat had black grime line around its edges.....the list goes on and on!!! It was a germophobe's 6th circle of Hell! The walls were paper thin so could hear on one side coughing, phone alerts and in the bathroom person showering and doing business on the toilet. Ugh!
What's even the most abominable is that almost EVERY.SINGLE.REVIEW gives the same BAD "Don't stay there" comments! And it's not even the recent ones as of today 2.27.22 but dates back at least TWO YEARS that I scrolled through. Management's constant reply was the same mechanical, canned I'm sorry. If you're sorry then why haven't you fixed it? As of TWO YEARS AGO!?!!?? This La Quinta needs MAJOR capital renovations. And a REAL security wall with gates needs to be installed to make customers feel safer. The only reason it's staying in business is because of it's convenience right off of main IH-35/Downtown/Hospital/Major Businesses.
NEVER staying here again! BEWARE others and...
Read moreThe customer service at La Quinta at Oltorf In Austin, TX is atrocious!
On December 7, 2022, my wife and I arrived at La Quinta on Oltorf st. in Austin, TX around 5:30pm. Upon our arrival, we walked into the lobby to find that nobody was at the front desk. After a few minutes, a second party arrived behind us and shortly after, a third. Everyone was standing in the lobby wondering where the desk clerk was. After about ten minutes, a clerk named BAE walked out of a door and came to the counter. She looked at us with disgust, as if we were inconveniencing her or interrupting her day. She didn't apologize for the wait and simply asked, “Can I help you?”
I stated that we were checking in and handed her my driver's license and a credit card, since there was a sign at the counter that read “Credit card required at check-in.” I was already frustrated because of the long wait to be served as she asked for my last name. I told her my last name and mentioned that it was on the driver's license. At this point, she tossed the credit card back at me and stated, “I don't need that.” I motioned to the sign stating that a credit card was needed. Then, she asked for my last name. I was really frustrated and told her “It's on the driver's license. Why can't you just read it from there?” She got really mad and said, “ You can leave. I'm canceling your reservation. If you don't leave, I'm calling the police.” I asked to speak to her supervisor and she said, “ I am the supervisor. There's nobody else here right now.” She then proceeded to call the police. We waited a while for the police to arrive but they were taking too long and we had a concert to attend at 7pm.
I know that the hotel is private property and they reserve the right to refuse service but I feel that the situation did not escalate to a level where my reservation needed to be cancelled and cops called. I was never threatening and didn't even raise my voice. It was very embarrassing, as the other two parties behind us witnessed this and one party even commented to us how unfairly we were treated.
If BAE is the supervisor at La Quinta at Oltorf in Austin, TX, then the hotel is in serious trouble or does not care about its guests. We travel regularly and always stay at La Quinta. We have never, ever experienced the type of horrible service that we experienced at the Oltorf location.
Beware! Avoid La Quinta at Oltorf st...
Read moreI debated about sharing this, but just wanted future people to be aware. I stayed here for the bar exam, and had never been to Austin before. I wasn’t aware that this location wasn’t necessarily the best. It’s close to the convention center, which is nice, but it’s not a safe location. I did have my car stolen from this lot (car was locked and the keys were with me). I parked in front by the security cameras. I had to extend my trip, as I was meant to be checking out and needed a place for my stuff and to go back to in order to file a report with the police after the bar exam. I did initially have to pay for the extension, which was solely due to the fact that I did not have a vehicle. When my stepmom called for information (while I was testing), the staff didn’t share much but that they believed it was my fault, as the man who was captured on camera did not “appear to break into the vehicle.” It was a stressful time and I know that it’s not the staff’s fault the car was taken, but the response did not help the situation and made me feel like they didn’t want their hotel to be blamed for the theft, when I do believe the location was the issue. They wanted to convince my stepmom I dropped the keys or left them in the car, which was not the case. I will say that 2 weeks after the incident, they refunded the portion for the extension. I just don’t believe it should have been charged in the first place and the response in attempting to help me locate a car stolen off THEIR property could have been better.
As for the rooms, if you choose to stay here, beware of the room you are booking. Despite the website saying that each room has a fridge and microwave, this is not true. Only “deluxe rooms” do. I had to get my room upgraded, and received a room with the carpet peeling, rust in the shower, and the shower tub dipped in when you stepped in it. The faucet to the shower was not even fully connected to the wall and jiggled when I tried to use it. I stayed here as the board for the bar exam had a block of rooms here, it was close to the convention center, and I was not familiar with the area. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. If the rooms in the area didn’t skyrocket due to the exam, I would have gone...
