The food was pretty good but the service was definitely lacking. I'm not trying to be racist or anything and I would say this was all in my head but I know for a fact it wasn't my friend was with me and they were Hispanic and even they agreed. I wasn't a priority to them to wait on because I was white the only white person in the entire restaurant might I add. They literally waited on every other person that was Hispanic before they would say anything to me they didn't even offer me a drink or anything while I waited for my to-go order but everybody else got offered stuff including the person I was with. The food I ordered was really good it was called "The Gringo Meal"go figure lol so I overlooked that and I told a bunch of people at the apartments that I live in about the good food because the place is right down the street from our apartment. Unfortunately they spent $28+on a fish meal of some kind and the fish was completely burned through and through they couldn't even eat it. When they went back the next day and tried to tell them about it they were told that they needed a receipt and to produce the burnt meal I guess. I could see the receipt but hanging onto a burnt fish overnight just to go show them in order to get their money back is a little strange if you ask me I personally wouldn't do it. I'm not sure why they didn't just take a picture now that I'm thinking about it. Anyways, the moral of me sharing this is that ultimately no refund was given do they were tragically out almost 30 bucks. Plus if you happen to be white or any other color besides Hispanic I would avoid this place because they are definitely racist or at least favorite their own which is understandable but not in a restaurant setting where you...
Read moreJune 29,2019. On this night me and 4 other friends had the absolute worst experience one can have at a restaurant . Ultimately it was OUR FAULT. We should have left the minute we saw the huge 3 inch cockroach run across the wall 2 feet from our table. That is complaint #1. The second was the fact that our food came out way to fast. Suspiciously FAST. Ceviche is supposed to be cold, my cup of fish ceviche was warm. ROOM temperature warm. Anyways the energy here is dark and heavy. It was obvious we were not welcomed. Our drinks were NEVER refilled. We understand this. Our waitress was to busy chatting at the bar with the other waitresses. But They at least could have shared the funny joke they were all obnoxiously laughing at. Our waiter stared us down as we filled out our receipts to see how much we were tipping. When she saw that we weren't leaving tips she had the audacity to ask "ustedes no saben dejar tips" I told her "la cosa es que ustedes no saben dar buen servicio." you NEVER ask the customer to tip. Its not mandatory. You give good service and the customer will know to give it. Funniest part is that we did not spend more than 30 mins in the restaurant. Midway through our meal is when we agreed that the we needed to leave. Disgusting. Embarrassing. This place js a...
Read moreI had a great meal at this place, but I could see where if you misordered, you could leave disappointed (as many others have). If you really study the menu, this place excels in Mexican seafood stews. I know having a boiling hot stew in the Texan summer may not be enticing, but I had the "Levanta Muertos" (=raise the dead), and it was a winner. It was basically like a Mexican hot pot: fish, squid, octopus, crab (!), scallops (maybe), and shrimp in a super spicy stew that is made even spicier by the addition of tree chilis, raw jalapenos, and one other kind of chili. The chilis come on a side plate, similar to pho, so you can make it as spicy as you like. I went all in and was drenched in sweat to where even the wait staff was laughing at me. The stuff my friends got did not look nearly as good. The tortillas were sub-par, though I did like their super spicy salsa. If you like seafood and spicy food, as well as soups and stews, give this place a try. If you want fat-kid Tex-Mex (enchiladas, queso, fajitas, crispy tacos, etc.), go elsewhere. The atmosphere is straight out of Mexico, and we were the only white people there (which is a good thing in my opinion, as clearly people in the know like...
