Update to respond to Ian: Lying will get you nowhere. You hung up on me and then proceeded to screen my calls when I tried to call back the same day, as well as the next day. You did the same thing to my head coach who had to call from different phone numbers just so he could get you to answer. I'd love to get in contact with the owner of this property in order to discuss this further. Please email us his contact information when you get a chance.
Where do I even begin. We've been bringing our high school cross country team to this hotel for 10 years now. The old owner (Mindy) was awesome and always gave us a great rate because we would come in their dead season. This year, we emailed their Operations Manager Matt in August and set up our usual deal for the second week of October. We emailed again at the end of September updating the hotel like we usually do, when we were greeted by the General Manager from hell (Ian). He told us that Matt had quit and that he had taken over. He also said he wouldn't be honoring the deal we had already set up. Our head coach tried several times to work with him on a new deal, and every time he was rude, condescending, and unwilling to work with us on a new deal; even though he should've honored the deal the last manager had already established with us 3 weeks earlier. I tried making a phone call to Ian myself to work out a deal and I too was greeted with rudeness and treated as though I was taking up his precious time. Just what a general manager should sound like in the hospitality industry right? About half way through our phone call, he had someone come up to the front desk and he asked if he could put me on hold so that he could help the other person. I agreed and he set the phone down. I heard the whole conversation, including the reading of the customer's credit card number, over the phone. Absolutely professional. After about 5 minutes, I heard him come back to his desk and fumble around for a minute or 2 before he hung up on me. If I was the owner of this establishment, I would fire Ian immediately because he just lost out on between $5000-7000 per year in October. Not because we weren't willing to work out a new deal, but because he is a rude and unprofessional general manager who doesn't deserve our business. Luckily another hotel on the island was willing to work out a deal with us and save the trip for my kids who's hopes Ian had destroyed. I hope the short-term profit is worth the 15 years of loyalty your...
Read moreMy best friend and I take a girls trip every year, and this year we went to Catalina Island and stayed at the Hermosa hotel. We knew ahead of time that this island is very old and historical and that was one of the reasons why we wanted to go. With that being said, our room was disgusting and beyond horrifying. We found a crack pipe behind the toilet. I immediately contacted the front desk and she came and collected It, she confirmed that that’s what it was as well. I asked for a refund and she said she would speak to her to the owner to find out what they can do to compensate us Unfortunately, we did not get refunded our money, but was only offered $120. We could not find another hotel in the area as everything was booked therefore, we were stuck in this disgusting room for the entire time we were on the island. You could not walk on the floor barefooted it was filthy. The beds were extremely old and uncomfortable and the pillows. Lord knows how long they’ve had them. They need to be thrown away and replaced. There was a 2 Liter soda, cap hot glued to the peep hole in the inside of the door. There was a hole in the wall that you could see outside to where the cable came in to hook up to the TV. All the dishes were dirty and had stuff on them. The hot water either scolded Your skin or froze you in the shower. There was no easy way to adjust the right temperature while showering. It was terrible. All of the walls and trim were caked with filth and dirt. The coffee in the lobby was either empty or not there and available when you needed it. It’s a complete insult to only have been refunded the $120 for a room that cost over $200 a night. We were there from the 16th of October to 20 October. My strong opinion is this hotel should be closed down and renovated. Overpriced disgusting filthy and excuses that it’s just an old room. Dirt does not make a room old. On the last day I woke up with an eye infection and had to go to the urgent care when I got home just to find out that I had gotten an infection in my eyes which required antibiotic drops. I am positive. This is from the gross pillows And the filthy room.
Please be aware they don’t care that you’re complaining and they will do nothing to update or fix any of this. The crack pipe alone should say it all! I would love...
Read moreThe staff is amazing at what they do. All of them get a 5+. The problem is that the Hotel is only half remodeled. We were in the very old 2 Queen bed. With a tiny toilet that we had to keep lifting the tank lid to fill the water tank to keep from running and very old shower space. The curtain was ripped. The door had water flood damage. The sink had no space to set anything on. No room for luggage to sit out. I am only 4’11 and the fridge was so high. At least 6’4 high. If I was alone, there would be no way for me to reach the fridge. The floors were so dirty the minute we walked in. They didn’t even sweep first. No we know they were not mopped. For the money we spent, I would not stay in this room ever again. We had four people amd it was very hard to move around. The tv did not work. It could have been a battery in the remote. Luckily, we were out all the time. We didn’t want to be in that room accept to sleep. That’s all that was good about it. We also arrived and our key cards didn’t work twice. Which caused us to need a real key. Which was fine but, they only had one key for us. So, if we needed to get into the room and another had a key we couldn’t get in. We realize we are on an old island. That makes it very hard and expensive for these places to remodel or update. But, don’t falsely advertise that it’s been remodeled all over when it’s only been remodeled for the larger rooms that get them more money. We work hard to come there and spend our money as much as the staff works hard to make things work so well for your Hotel. So, give your staff, workers and employees a better place to keep. Because they make your Hotel great! Not your rooms. So the owners need to take a step back to help these staffers have the right things they need to be as accommodating as they are. A+...
