Catalina Backcountry — Local services in Avalon

Catalina Backcountry provided our party of six senior ladies fabulous memories! We hiked a beautiful eight mile trek, with our CB guide Shanna, that was fun and she shared interesting stories and facts about the island and wildlife. We saw deer, bison, ravens, and spectacular ocean and landscape scenery. CB, Larina and Robin, had our campsite set up when we reached our destination at Two Harbors. We were treated to an overabundance of appetizers, drink, and dinner, ending with S'mores at our campfire. The following morning began with hot drinks ready at our picnic table, a delicious breakfast, and a nine mile hike with Linda. We reached our destination in Avalon and were met by a driver and van, driven to our rented house and CB delivered all of our luggage and left over drink and food from the campsite. I had originally planned to hike from Two Harbors to Little Harbor with another adult and 3 children under the age of 8. I eventually changed that plan and began looking into options about getting to Little Harbor from Avalon and was told about Catalina Backcountry. By this time I had added 2 more kids to the trip so I told them I had 2 adults and 5 kids along with all the gear we required for camping. I was given a quote of $430 to haul 8 pieces of gear and our entire group. By the time we had gotten all our stuff together, we had multiple backpacks and more bags than we had planned. When we arrived, I was worried that we wouldn’t be able to fit all our stuff into the vehicle but was told “we’ll make it work.” Cheryl and Aaron managed to fit all our stuff into their Toyota Sequoia when they took us to and from Little Harbor. They were great to chat with during each drive and clearly love Catalina. I’d happily recommend their services to anyone looking to travel anywhere...

He’s incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and truly goes above and beyond to make your experience unforgettable. I was dealing with an old knee injury during my visit, and Aaron was so thoughtful and accommodating.
