Stardust Motel Azusa — Hotel in Azusa

We stayed there 12/30/17 - 1/1/18 and were charged $120/night plus a "service fee" for a filthy room with an uncomfortable bed that should have been no more than $60/night.

(1) I had to wipe down all of the surfaces because they were absolutely black with a coal-like dust. (2) The floor was so dirty that my feet were black after just 3-4 minutes of walking on it. I mentioned it to management and asked that they mop the floor, but it was just as filthy the second night as it had been the first. (3) There was such a bad leak under the bathroom sink, that a 3' by 4' area was flooded with water. I ask management to fix it, but that night and the next morning, it was even worse than before. Even the towels we put on the floor weren't enough to soak up the water. We ended up tracking water all over our room. (4) The bed was made with two flat sheets – no fitted sheet - and the mattress was covered with heavy plastic sheeting that had not been removed when they purchased it. Consequently, the bottom flat sheet kept coming off because it was sliding all over the plastic and every time you moved in bed, you heard and felt the plastic beneath you. It was a most uncomfortable experience. (5) Management was very rude when I asked for a second room key.

This place is awful. The staff are rude and attempt to gouge and defraud you every chance they get. I stayed here for about week while my home was being renovated and regret it entirely.

Despite paying extra for four adults the staff and one man in particular constantly harassed me about the number of people who were coming to and from our room, even though we were all registered and paying guests.

A few times upon returning from getting food or running errands the man would stop me and ask what room I'm visiting and there are no visitors allowed. I had to debate with the man about my status as a paying guest even though I had the room key and my driver's license on me

Later during my stay they demanded that we leave the room at 11am and return at 3 after cleaning even though they looked at the room and it was totally fine as it was. At this point I was fed up with this place completely, and we had to argue tooth and nail to get the money back for the days we had paid for but weren't staying for. Then even though they refunded the future days, we had to insist and argue again to get our deposit back event though the room was exactly as it had been when we arrived.

These people are scam artists; tricked me into paying extra for an early check-in fee, despite the fact that I said I couldn't afford it; they DIDN'T clean my room, and on top of all that, the little girl at the front desk actually tried to accuse me of smoking in the room (I did NOT), because she wanted to keep my $50 cash deposit. I stood my ground though. I told her she could easily see me on camera in the parking lot. THEN she tries to say that the smoke traveled from the parking lot into the room. Through a locked door? And I was literally more than 30 feet from the door, FOR THAT REASON. She watches the camera thinking she's going to prove me wrong, but comes back and won't even look me in the eye. Just says "here's your money", hands it to me, and that's it. No apology, no nothing. And she looked PISSED. Like I did something wrong. DO NOT STAY HERE. These people...
