The rooms are nice and both people at the desk were nice, but the hotel isn't. I think a lot of the people staying here are permanent residents; and anyone who knows what that means, knows it doesn't make for a nice place you'd want to bring your wife and kids to on a trip. On Monday night at 10 at night, there are a lot of people out; too many to be normal. Rolling coolers into their room, sitting in their cars, milling around. One guy hanging out in the lobby, sitting on the couch talking to the girl behind the desk, like this is what he always does and like they know each other. People in separate unconnected rooms know each other. And there's an older guy sitting in a desk chair across one of the hallways, and had to move his feet to let me get by. The hallway carpets are dirty and worn. The ceilings are the lowest of any building I can remember being in. About 6ft 8in in the hallways and bathroom. Although the room ceilings are higher. They did redo at least one of the stairways so that it's nice, but the doors are old and beat up and the elevator is like a tin can; the back of it looked like 1/8" aluminum sheet that a handyman would throw in there as a patch replacement. It was the crappiest looking elevator I can remember ever being in. The pool looks like a retention pond. See picture. The place is not a flea bag dump, but it's about five years of bad to no maintenance away from being a dump. It is not nice. Nobody would mistake it for being nice. And as an example of the clientele: as I was walking back into a side door, a family was loading a car parked across the width of the whole road, so that I had to walk between them, so to be friendly and non threatening I said how are you doing. The guy just gave me a nasty stare, like we're in some murderous gangland. Very nice. It fit in pretty well with the vibe I got from the place, and what I saw. I've stayed at a lot of cheapo dump hotels a lot worse than this place. But I paid $40 a night for them. And I expected drugs, fights, yelling, and rough materials and rough people. Not the $220 per night that I paid at this place, on Monday June 9, '25. Monday. And there are no events going on in the area to explain it. When I asked why it was so much higher than the internet listed, the girl at the desk said it was because they were almost full. We had no choice at that point. I would not stay here again if I could help it. For this kind of stuff, you can stay at the Super 8 or Days Inn, or Budget Inn...
Read moreI am local to the DC area, but had a funeral in Arlington Cemetery on a weekday morning. Anyone who has ever been to the area knows that traffic is horrible - add rain to that and it is like a chaotic circus. So I decided that I would stay in a hotel to minimize the possibility that I would be stuck in traffic and potentially miss the funeral.
I usually stay at Hilton Hotels because I get amazing discounts; however, even with the discounts, the price for one night was way too high. So I found this gem when looking for hotels that were less expensive. I read the reviews, and although they were somewhat mixed, it seems that the good reviews were REALLY good, so I decided to give this a shot. I am glad that I did!
The first awesome thing was walking into an updated, relaxing lobby. Then I checked in with Hope, who was so warm and welcoming and also very patient (I was kinda a mess and it was late). Hope was incredibly informative and helpful. I could tell that she really loves her job, which makes a big difference in the type of customer service one receives.
The overall atmosphere was awesome for the price. I was not staying in an overpriced, luxurious hotel, so I am not going to expect that (I feel that other guests who complained about the atmosphere were expecting some kind penthouse accommodations.)
The room? Updated and squeaky clean! The linens were fresh, the restroom looked brand new and the room was warm and welcoming after a long day. And although I think that the hotel was sold out, I did not hear a peep from the neighbors on either side or upstairs!
The breakfast the next morning was great - 2 waffle makers with 2 different flavors, eggs, sausage, muffins, danishes & other sweets, cereal, oatmeal, fruit, juice, milk, etc. It was much better than breakfasts I have had at other lower-priced hotels.
To sum it all up, I usually do not stay at Choice Hotels and other lower-priced brands because I do find myself in a musty smelling room where I always check for bed bugs (sorry, but it is my experience). However, this hotel far exceeded my expectations. Thank you, Comfort Inn Falls Church, for being both inexpensive and awesome! (And p.s. Give Hope a raise because she is a true asset to this hotel. I swear that she knows nothing about...
Read moreI decided to stay here because it was a short commute to the D.C. Zoo & other D.C. attractions. The room “looked clean”, but it smelled so bad. When we first entered the smell made me gag. It smelled of musty underarms and other very unclean body parts. The room was also ice cold. I believe they did that in hopes it would mask the smell. The toilet seat was plastic & it was peeling pretty bad. Thankfully I had air sanitizer spray, disinfectant & toilet seat covers. I did my norm of wiping and spraying things down. Hoping that would help, but it didn’t. Myself and my son slept on top of the comforter and wore a face mask to bed. The next morning, we were up bright and early. I made the front desk aware of how badly the room smelled. I told her that we were leaving for the day and wouldn’t be back until the evening. When we returned, I could tell housekeeping had been there, but the smell was still there. I went back to the front desk to tell them my issue again. The lady just shrugged and said housekeeping can't come back around until the morning. As soon as the sun broke, we were out of there. I noticed most of the housekeeping staff wear masks. At first, I thought it was to prevent sickness, but now I think it’s because some of the rooms stink. I believe the smell is in the carpet and the walls. There was also a little mold in the bathtub. The pros of being in a nice area were totally outweighed by the smell of that room. Anyway, not only will I never stay at this Comfort Inn, I’ll never stay at any other...
