Little Main Street Inn — Hotel in Banner Elk

Quaint inn, clean, comfortable and well located

This is a nice little lodging in Banner Elk as the name suggests right on Main St. Their website may not be snazzy by 2020 standards but our pre-booking questions were all answered by a couple of phone conversations.

Our stay was during the COVID-19 epidemic. We were understandably concerned on how well the stay would proceed. Upon arrival we found the whole process was to be “touch-free”. Zero human interaction. And it all went smoothly, the checkin, the help during the stay, the checkout.

The building and decorations smacked of an old time lodging. And that is not a negative comment. It was all very tastefully done. Very nicely kept, everything orderly. Our “apartment” itself was quite spacious for our family of 3. The furnishings were complete in every room. The bedroom had ample shelving space and several plugs to connect our myriad devices. The living room had a pullout sofa, a modern TV. The bedding in the bedroom was a little soft to our liking. Expected supplies were available in the bathroom.

What with COVID-19 and my family’s dietary restrictions we planned to fully use the kitchen. We had all we needed to prepare our meals. Enough pots, pans, utensils. All clean and in working condition.

Any supplies we needed - snacks, trash bags, coffee packs, pop corn, you name it and it was available in one of the many shelves that lined the hallway. Not hard to find.

If I could give this place more stars, I would. I had the most amazing stay here when I came for Christmas! I've always stayed at typical hotels like Comfort Suites and thought the best I could get was one of the pricier rooms there, but I got significantly more out of staying at one of Little Main Streets standard rooms here - and for less $$$ too! It was insanely easy to check into our room, no hassle or anything, just a quick phone call to the staff in order to check in. When we got to our suite, we immediately fell in love. It was truly a home away from home, with adorable decorations for the holidays all over the room making it cozy and inviting. The whole place was rustic, with a great scenic view of mountains and hills from the porch out back. All the hallways to this place were lined with snacks, DVD's, & board games for everyone to borrow whenever. The entire place was quiet, all guests and staff pretty much kept to themselves, so it was a very calm and stress free stay. The only "problem" was an issue with my card, and all it took was a 5 minute phone call to figure it out and they solved the problem, no hassle or arguments whatsoever. The kind people who run this place are VERY easy to work with and get things don't quick and simple. Honestly this was the best hotel/suite I have ever stayed at and I will absolutely be coming back here again, I appreciate how easy it was booking this place, I was at ease this entire stay.
