I'm assuming based on the pictures that this place changed dramatically during covid. There's no longer a counter or staff. It's completely remote. You buy a card with game points on it then scan at each game and the tickets are automatically loaded onto the card then you shop with the card at a toy vending machine. Really cool concept vs the old school quarter and paper tickets.
The problem is 1/3, of the games give and error or red screen when you try to play. Some take your points then don't function. The prize machine will take your point when your shopping and desepense nothing, , I'm assuming that toy was out of stock, understandable but if a Pepsi machine can say out of stock that fancy thing should be smart enough to. My kid had a blast but for the price it should be kept up better. More maintenance and fully functional equipment and it would would be 5 starts.
Also the air hockey table has a dead spot in the middle, assuming the blowers arnt working. Thoroughly disrupts the game as the puck just stops out of reach of both players.
Don't play the claw game, the claw is set so weak it couldn't grasp a feather, those games are usually a scam but that was the worst the seen.
Would go back for the kids fun but needs...
Read moreThis was a fun and whimsical little find in downtown Banner Elk. There's many different types of games and you can have a good time in here and walk away with some silly and fun little prizes too.
While I enjoyed the small arcade and prize collection, there were issues with many of the games where they would take credits from the game card without letting us play, or would not load tickets onto the cards when play was done. Also some of the games that were prized based (like claw machines) would drop the prizes in a way that they could not be reached. With no staff on site, there was no one to help rectify these issues right away. There is also not any contact information posted to get a hold of someone for this either.
So in all, 3/5 because while it was fun and easy to get to, it did have many technical issues that were not able to be addressed with anyone, which cost money that we got no game...
Read moreThey have signs up "play at your own risk" and I totally understand why. Most of the games were broken and taken credits from our card. We spent $30 and lost half our credits because the games would scan our card, take our credits, but then would let us play. The ice ball games would dispense the balls so couldn't play to even get tickets for prizes. It was a big waste for us. There was no employees or workers to help fix these problems either so just left with our lost money. So just beware most games don't work, and will take your credits, no allowing you to play, and no giving you the chance to earn tickets for the prizes....
