Emotionally Disturbing Experience at Bay Lake Tower â Blood-Stained Sheets & Inadequate Resolution
This was supposed to be a Magical Disney vacation. We are a family of fiveâtwo parents and three young childrenâstaying at Bay Lake Tower in a Deluxe Villa during our Disney World vacation. We intentionally chose the Deluxe Villa for the comfort and space it offers, which is critical when traveling with young children.
Our Deluxe Villa included: Two full bathrooms, with the master bath featuring a large hot tub
A full kitchen with a full-sized refrigerator, plates, utensils, and plenty of cabinet space where we stored our snacks and cases of water
A private balcony
A partition wall separating the kids' sleeping area from ours, which allowed us all to get rest and privacyâsomething very important to us on this trip
However, on the morning of Saturday, July 19th 2025, our trip was severely disrupted when we discovered that our children had slept in bedsheets covered in dried blood stains. We immediately checked them for injuries, none of our kids were bleeding, so the blood was clearly from a previous guest. This was not only a serious sanitation issue and biohazard âit was emotionally and mentally disturbing to find our children had unknowingly slept in such unsanitary and unsafe conditions. We hadnât inspected the sheets the night before because we trusted Disneyâs standards. That trust was completely broken.
We immediately reported this to hotel management. We spoke with: The Housekeeping Manager The Front Desk Manager, Morgan And later, Katie, who identified herself as a higher-level manager
Hereâs how they responded: Option 1: Clean the room â an obvious and inadequate response considering the severity of the situation.
Option 2: Move us to the Contemporary Resort â but the offered room was a clear downgrade. It was a studio with no kitchen, no cabinet space, no utensils, only one bathroom, no hot tub, and no balcony. It also lacked a sleeping separation, meaning no privacy from our children.
Option 3: Check availability at other resorts â by that point, it was already 1:00 PM, and we had lost our entire morning dealing with this issue. Our children were heartbroken to miss their long-awaited visit to the Magic Kingdom castle.
We declined the third option because we didnât want to waste more of our day packing and relocating. Ultimately, the only resolution offered was to clean the room and comp one nightâs stay. â Thatâs It!
While we acknowledge the comped night, it falls far short of whatâs appropriate for the seriousness of the situation. Our children slept in someone elseâs dried blood. Thatâs not just unacceptableâitâs traumatizing. No genuine apology and no serious concern for the kids and what had just happened to our family.
For the reputation that Disney loves to market -- this was a complete failure.
This experience left us frustrated, disappointed, and emotionally drained. For the standard Disney promises, this was a total failure in health, hospitality, and guest care. We urge Disney to take this matter seriously, review their cleaning protocols, and train their staff to respond to critical issues with greater empathy...
Read moreOur absolute happy place!! My parents have been Disney Vacation Club members since the program first started back in 1993. We visited the Old Key West resort for 15 wonderful years, and I basically grew up there year after year :) But as soon as Bay Lake Tower was built, it became our new home away from home. Even just the clean, modern, wonderful smell of the lobby brings back a flood of happy memories!! We love being on the monorail and having the ability to take the walkway between the two buildings to visit the Contemporary Grand Concourse with all the cute shops, restaraunts and arcade. The upper rooms at Bay Lake have fantastic views - even if you don't have a Magic Kingdom view (which can't be topped!) you will still have pleasant, relaxing views out onto the lake out back (including the now defunct Discovery Island) oward to Orlando proper, the Contemporary dock and pool to the left, or out past the monorail across the 7 Seas Lagoon. My parents, fiancee and I absolutely love spending summer evenings after the parks out on the balcony, drinks in hand, enjoying the view and listening to the frogs sing below. The Magic Kingdom gate is less than 10 minutes away on foot, you basically walk right alongside Space Mountain, me and my dad's favorite ride - it's right there!! The pool and waterslide at Bay Lake are awesome; ample chairs and towels, along with a decent cafe for lunch, drinks and snacks. The hotel itself is very clean and modern, though some of the furniture could use touch-ups and replacing as many of them are showing wear and tear from years of abuse. The beds are INSANELY comfortable and probably one of my favorite aspects of this hotel, literally cloud 9 - I look forward to sleeping here all year. We love the full kitchen, it's perfect for cooking big breakfasts and has plenty of plates, glasses, utensils, and smaller appliances like a coffee maker and toaster. Not to mention the fantastic rooftop bar with the most direct, perfect views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks - they even pipe in the music and narration from the park! If you stay here, you will NOT be disappointed. We will be visiting again in just a few days and I'm once again super excited and full of joy - I hope you feel the same way if you...
Read moreWe stayed at Disney's Bay Lake Tower for 4 days. We had an excellent experience at check in with Ana. We resort hopped on this trip, so we were checking in around 9:30am. She was able to get a room that was ready for us.
I loved the elevators. They were fast & we didn't wait very long for them. We stayed on the "left side of resort," if you are looking at the front of building, in room 7709. This room is a Lake view. We could see the water parade/show at night! I could also see what I believe are the Epcot fireworks. They are far away, but still great to sit on the lanai & watch fireworks & water parade. The DVC room was smaller than other resorts. The room worked well for 2 adults. It had a sink where the coffee pot was. Great to wash out our resort refill cups.
I found it to be quiet. I rarely heard anyone in the hallway walking by, nor did I hear the neighbors on each side of our room.
I loved the pool. Yes, it is busy. We only stayed in the smaller DVC pool. The Contemporary has another pool available. I liked that the pool had the cup refill station right there. It also has life guards working.
The bummer? Food was inside the Contemporary. Many meals we ate in MK or at other monorail resorts. To reach the "walk way" between Bay Lake Tower & the Contemporary we had to go down the first floor, walk through the Lobby area, to the other elevators. This set of elevators are on the "right side of resort" when looking at the front of the building. The "walk way" is up on the 5th floor. This was much busier. You needed to scan your magicband for the elevator to work also. Maybe staying over on the right side would make the process easier, but elevator will still be way busier. This would also be the process to reach the Monorail, inside the Contemporary.
Checkout is easy, did it on the DIsney App. I really liked staying here. I have always heard people love it or hate it. It is not overly Disney themed with characters etc. This is one of the reasons other people do not like.
Photos I added show the fireworks & water parade. The pool and the tower that has the pool slide. Another photo has the end of the slide where...
