Built in 1959, this property has a very modern interior. It is nestled in a historic district that is both scenic & walkable. Everything about this property & its proximity to water, sights, & eating establishments was perfect for an overnight getaway! The rooms were exceptionally clean. The lobby was chic & clean as well. Covid protocols remain in place in terms of sanitation, etc. We overslept & missed breakfast, but I am sure it is as well done as the rest of the services & amenities available at this establishment.
Each & every staff person we encountered seemed to love their jobs -- which is saying something these days when patrons' demands are high, wages are low, and workloads have increased exponentially. Every single person we encountered warmly & genuinely greeted us. Buddy (at the front desk) has the voice of a radio DJ & the professional decorum of a CEO. The general manager, Lisa, was on site as well. Her performance on site was striking because we observed her in constant motion, which I believe makes her colleagues want to work hard because their leadership does as well. Lisa seemed to take pride in everything about the property & its functioning. Joe was very pleasant, quick with a smile, and immediately sought to ensure our time at the pool was comfortable. All of the housekeeping staff were friendly as we passed them in the walkways. Their work ethic was evident in the cleanliness of the room -- this was the first time in ages I haven't cleaned my accommodations myself after check-in. My husband was in shock that I abstained from cleaning -- haha.
We were less than an hour into our stay before we booked for another stay at Christmas. I feel certain we'll return well before the holidays. To whomever reads these reviews & has any say as to how employees are appreciated/recognized for the work they do -- beyond their financial compensation -- do please relay to everyone how much their hard work made my first (and all too brief) trip to Beaufort a memorable one. They all are...
Read moreI arrived a little before check-in time. The front desk agent paged housekeeping to see if my room was ready, and it was not. Rather than telling me to come back in a half hour, the agent went ahead with the check-in process and gave me a parking pass so that I would not have to move my car. I had prepaid for the room online but still proffered my credit card. The agent said that would not be necessary as there would be no incidentals. I find that "incidental charges" line at most hotels very off-putting. The location of this hotel is perfect if you want to see or do anything in the historic section of Beaufort. The restaurants, shops, or parks that you are likely to visit will be less than a scenic 10 minute walk from your room. The room I had was large, clean, and nicely designed with updated linens, window treatments, flooring, and art. There was plenty of room for personal items to hang or be placed in drawers. The bathroom had white marble look solid surfacing counters and shelves. The shower was strong and adjustable. I had planned to eat breakfast downtown, but the front desk agent told me that the included meal was much more than "continental." I would fully agree. It included diced roasted sweet potatoes, fresh scrambled eggs, chicken sausage links, really delicious scones with real butter, fresh fruit, make-your-own waffles, very good coffee. My expectations were exceeded and I would not look for another place to stay when returning to...
Read moreBeware: Extremely disappointed as a loyal BW customer was charged a full night stay for cancelation due to unforeseen weather and health issues. Our family made a reservation for one night in route to our home in Florida. The morning of our departure from Greenville, SC severe weather was predicted for Southeast USA and for the low country with potential for flooding over the next 24 hours.
My husband was not feeling well and we decided it was best to drive home to Florida without stopping in Beaufort to get ahead of the storm. After speaking to hotel staff they understood our concern, confirmed that the area was expecting heavy rain for a few days and canceled the reservation. Shortly afterwards the hotel called back saying the manager was charging us a full night penalty stay. I explained our situation once again and asked if the manager was willing to work with us by meeting us halfway with the charge but no one from the hotel returned our call. The full amount was placed on our credit card.
We felt uncomfortable driving to an unfamiliar area with inclement weather especially after the extensive Weather Channel advisories for the area. We always find BW properties accommodating but apparently this location is not...
