I do not go to restaurants often at all. I have 5 kids under 10. I have had this restaurant on my radar for about a year and was excited to spontaneously try it out!

It just so happened that the night we went was also 1st Friday in Beaufort so it was busy. They wouldn't answer the phone so I walked on over to confirm they had gluten free pizza crust which they did. I was told it would be around a 30 minute wait. Ended up being an hour but I understood it was busy.

The atmosphere inside was not all that great. It was very loud. We were a party of 7 (5 kids 2 adults). The table was only set for 5 with no silverware or napkins. The waitress was hardly attentive. No crayons for the kids menus. Forgot the straws and only brought back 5 straws for 7 people. Never took the large menus off the table while we ate. All of this could have been overlooked...

However, my daughters food was brought out first. Mac and cheese that she couldn't eat because no one brought silverware. She had to wait 5 minutes until we could flag someone down for some. 10 minutes later my other children's food arrived. I have kids 10, 8, 6, and 2 year old twins. They behave well as expected. However, my husband and myself had to wait over 20 more minutes for our pizzas to come out!!!!!! I was feeling very agrivated because I was hungry and we were going to be spending $100 on a pizza dinner only to receive it and our kids are going to be done eating and ready to go/start fidgeting around/etc. Very unenjoyable to have to inhale your pizza because the kids have already eaten.

Secondly, the appetizer came out after my first daughter was eating and with the other kids' food. It was supposed to be garlic toast but was actually cheese bread. So just a heads up, its not actually garlic toast. Mine and my husband's pizza tasted no better then frozen. I have celiac and must eat gluten free crust. I did not enjoy it. I am not sure of their cooking methods for GF but it appears all the pizzas go into the same often so cross contamination will be very high.

The waitress never delivered any of our food. Not sure what she did other then ring up orders. Not very attentive. Disappointing experience since we don't go out much. Why would you not deliver food at the...

I visited Beaufort, SC for my first time on 5/9/25. I was there for a wedding weekend. On Saturday, 5/10/25, I explored the area during the day & noticed Hearth Wood Fired Pizza so I went in to check out the space. It has such a funky & warm vibe with a great atmosphere. After the wedding reception, I was hungry so my husband & I made our way back to Hearth at 9:15pm. When we walked in, I immediately asked if it was still open & serving food since someone was already pushing the stools against the bar & cleaning the floor. The hostess informed me that it actually was open until 10pm & that we could order something to eat. The person that was cleaning up made it clear that he was irritated about us coming in. We have our own wood-fired pizza on our patio in Pittsburgh, PA & we use it often so I was excited to taste on here. I ordered a beer & the Margherita pizza. While we were waiting we noticed several staff members working & one of them was behind the bar eating some of the food from another customer's order. They obviously knew each other. Our pizza came out & we were very disappointed. It was definitely not cooked long enough, extremely salty & had no wood-fired flavor. I was hungry so I ate some of it anyway instead of sending it back. While we were in there, several employees were already in clean up mode for closing. We also overheard one of the bartenders saying how they couldn't justify being open until 10pm since it wasn't busy. There were a few people at a table & several at the bar. We felt like we were rushed & not welcome so we ate some of the pizza, I drank my beer, we paid & left before 10pm. On Sunday, 5/11/25, I searched for an email contact so I could reach out to an owner or manager about my experience. I found them on Facebook so I sent a message explaining that instead of bashing them with a negative review, I'd rather talk to management about the issues so it could be corrected & not happen to someone else. It's now Wednesday, 5/14/25 & I still haven't heard from anyone so I decided to write this negative review. My first experience at Hearth Wood Fired Pizza was very unpleasant so I won't ever return & I'll make sure to tell others to find a...

Our first (and last) visit here, on the First Friday in April. We put our names in and were told 45 minutes wait. Fine, we walked around some shops. Came back in 45 minutes, we're told they were waiting for some tables to open up. Maybe 15 more minutes. So, over an hour later, we were finally seated (after we asked twice more about wait time). Server came pretty quickly, took our drink order, finally brought them back (no straws, we had to ask), and took our order (Caprese salad and a Margherita pizza). The "salad" came and consisted of 4 slices of tomato with cheese, and some herbs/oil, no greens, ($9). We waited for our pizza to begin eating, and a server finally brought it. No silverware to eat with, so we had to stop another server to ask for that too. The pizza was, honestly, the worst pizza we've ever had. The edge was alternately burned or underdone while the main part of the pizza was nearly raw and limp. I'm not sure who these people are that claim the crust is crispy throughout, but ours was not. The sauce lacked any flavor, and seemed very much like a canned tomato sauce with no herbs or other flavoring. Very disappointed! We could have saved $30 and bought a frozen pizza and cooked it at home and it would have been 100% better. And while we sat waiting for our order, we noticed the large "painting" hanging on the wall, full of dust like it had been dragged under a bed. Same for the brick oven and it's chimney; filthy and dusty and shameful. Not really sure how the board of health lets them operate with such unsanitary conditions in the restaurant. Pics will give you an idea. Save your$ and...

A beautiful restaurant sporting very contemporary, fresh and natural-feeling decor right in the middle of downtown. Being a pizza student and a purist, I couldn't have anything but a cheese pizza, which was not offered in the menu (neither a pepperoni). So, how was this thirteen dollar cheese pizza? Excellent. Even though the hearth oven added good flavor, the sauce reminded me of the best uncooked-before-baking sauces I've experienced and the dough was chewy and on the lighter side. Also, the cheese blend was very tasty. Salt was definitely provided. The staff offered freshly grated Parmesan-style cheese from a block which sank and drowned in the sea of oil on top of the pie. in the end, this pizza was enough to satisfy two pizza-hungry souls perfectly.
