My fiancé and I stayed at the Rodeway Inn at 568 Washington Ave,Belleville NJ. We got a room for us and our 18 month old son and our 15 year old brother. When I made the reservation online I choose the option to have two queen beds in a non smoking room. We arrived to the hotel after a 6 hour drive from New Hampshire around 930pm (possibly later) When we checked in the woman again said 'so you want two queen beds, I said yes please' and she put us in a non smoking room on the 3rd floor, room 133 actually to be exact. As soon as we got to the third floor the smell of marijuana was so heavy that we were literally smacked in the face with it from the second we turned the corner to the hallway. Mind you again, my fiancé is carrying our 1.5 year old son through this. When we got to our room (only second or third door from the stairs) the smell of the marijuana was still lingering throughout the room. For obvious reasons we were very unhappy about this and that our non smoking room had this smell in it. I do understand that some of your rooms are smoking, which is fine, but to have a whole floor of a hotel smelling of marijuana and then my specified non smoking room to still smell of people smoking not only cigarettes but this, was extremely upsetting to us. When we got into our room we also noticed that both of our beds were full sized, not queen. My fiancé and his brother went down to the front desk to talk to the woman about either getting the room of which I paid for online or to even switch to a different floor where hopefully the whole floor wasn't like walking through a smoke show. The woman simply told him "this is what we have if you don't like it then you can pay to go somewhere else" we both found this extremely unprofessional. We weren't asking for an upgrade or for special treatment, we were asking for what we reserved and paid for. Had there been no queen rooms in the hotel then not only should that not be an offer on the booking website but she should have explained the error when I went in to check in especially since she repeated back to me "you want two queen beds". Now I'm sure that I wasn't the only person in that hotel with a baby (or maybe I was) but to be 6.5 hours away from home and to have to stay in a hotel where you have to put a towel along the bottom of the door to keep marijuana smoke out is extremely displeasing to me and I feel as though needs to be brought to the attention of an upper since the woman at the front desk couldn't be bothered to even place us in a different location throughout the hotel. ||||A day following our stay I called the direct line of the hotel to ask for the email or to speak to a manager, the woman at the front desk questioned me and refused to give me the name of a manager. She gave me an email that came back as a non existent...
Read moreOh boy, where do I start? Firstly upon arrival i could tell it was going to be very interesting because their dumpster was overflowing and crowded with broken furniture and two mattresses. When we finally got into our room we had to leave for a concert so i found all these issues at 3am when we returned.. ALWAYS CHECK YOUR ROOM BEFORE YOU GO ANYWHERE! The carpet was so filthy it looked like it hadnt been vacumed in weeks, one section of the floor had what appeared to be human goo or candle wax bedded into the carpet. The bed itself didnt have any bugs however the head board of the bed painted a story of lewd pasts printed in greasy hand prints and what appeared to be rear end prints. The shower still had the last guests dirty wet washcloths on the floor. The microwave had food splattered all over the interior although the spinner plate was clean. It was incredibly difficult to take a shower because the shower itself isn't lit at all. Twice while there the cable went out not a big deal but worth mentioning. While me and my partner were waiting out front for a taxi a baptist church bus started to harass us specifically me then once they finished letting off children that were permenant residents the bus sat parked in front of the hotel for an additional 20 minutes at this point they had approached us several times trying to offer us christian literature. I could tell it had to do with how i was dressed we were headed to metallica concert and im pretty sure they thought i was a call girl. The man that works there youll know who im talking about, kept staring into my window. The hotel room only had one single overhead light so i needed the curtains open so i could do my makeup for the concert. Every time we left or came back to the room he was sitting outside our door on the windowstill in the little entryway at the bottom of the stairs. The whole vibe was "Being Watched", after this i went ahead and locked all the windows in the hotel room including the bathroom window which had no screen. Later on we requested a blanket and the man told us they would have fresh blankets in about a half hour. Two hours later we went to find him and ask for the blanket again. 15 minutes later he brought the blanket to our room to drop it off asked if we needed any toilet paper and then went on his way. We couldnt use most of the furniture in the room the end tables were both broken and covered in hair and sticky messes. Pictures included.... oh the pillows had to be...
Read moreI have stayed in this hotel numerous times in the past year because I needed to stay locally.
The Hotel room bathrooms are never 100℅ clean. This time the toilet bowl had dried urine and fecal matter on lid and rim of toilet. Food particles were found in the carpet floor which was recently "vacuumed". (Old French fries on the floor near the closet space)
Cigarette butts from the previous guest were on the carpet as well.
Refrigerator and microwave were also dirty. I had to wipe things down with Lysol myself to ensure the room was clean.
The drawers in the dressers had personal items that were left behind by previous guest. One of the items left behind was a bag of drugs/illegal substance.
I am uncertain if anyone truly cleaned the room or not.
Blankets provided had big cigarette burn holes in them.
I always bring my own blankets and pillows when I stay at the hotel.
My advice to anyone is to only stay in this hotel if you need to be local. The other choice hotels are further away or are too expensive.
This is the only choice hotel/inn that allows smoking and is located in Belleville. Make sure that when you stay, you bring disinfectant spray and Lysol wipes as a precautionary measure.
The rooms are overpriced for the below average quality...
