I booked this hotel for our summer vacation as a family of 4. I booked it specifically for the kitchenette option that was posted on their main website. It was also included in my reservation, along with photos of the kitchen area.
When we arrived at the hotel, everything was clean and I was excited about our stay. This was the last leg of our trip. We arrived a little late, and checked in at the receptionist's desk. I asked her, just to confirm, if there was kitchenette. And she seemed very confused and said "I'm not sure, because I think they are phasing out the kitchenettes". I immediately told her there would be a problem if our room did not include one, as on the website it was advertised as a kitchen suite.
We got up to our room, (it did happen to be a kitchen suite!) and started unpacking, preparing to make dinner. We arrived late, and just wanted to eat a quick dinner and head to bed. As we were doing so, we realized that there were ZERO pots or pans, no plates, glasses, silverware, etc. The kitchen was completely barren.
This posed a GIANT problem. We had brought everything to cook for ourselves (even breakfast, because we like to sleep in, and don't often make it down for the complementary breakfast). The room DID have a refrigerator so we could store all of the food that we now were not able to cook. I immediately called down to the front desk, and was told that since they are phasing out the kitchenettes and are rarely requested anymore, they no longer stock the kitchen with the necessary tools to cook and eat. When I was asked what we could do about it, I was told we could go and purchase our own pots and pans to use. Seriously. This is what I was told.
Now, I am not one to complain, I'm truly not. But this infuriated me. I planned our trip very carefully, with meals in mind. I booked the kitchenette for the soul purpose of cooking in the hotel and avoiding eating out to save money. Not only were we not able to cook in our hotel, we had to go out and eat, and unnecessarily spend money , which irritates this frugal mama. I had already pre-planned and purchased all of the food for our trip.
I found the staff to be unwilling to help, and when I asked for a manager, I was informed that she was out until the day after we check out.
I have contacted the Corporate office and filed a formal complaint. I will be updating this after I hear from them.
The only reason I left two stars, is because the bed was very comfortable, and the hotel was clean-ish.
Update:
After many calls to their corporate office, and going round and round, we got a whopping $50 refund. (This is according to them, we have yet to receive it).
This is after they told me "Well, we didn't charge you for the crib, so that would have been an extra $20 per day"....like I was supposed to be okay with the CRAP service because you didn't charge me for a crib? What the heck!?
To stay I will never stay here again is an absolute...

Read moreI booked this place because the price was reasonable and it was rated highly on TripAdvisor. The first room I had had a broken lock/latch and as a single female, I didn't feel comfortable with that. The room smelled musty and smokey. I requested another room. ||The front desk gent was very quick and brought me keys for another room. That room, unfortunately also had an overwhelming musty smokey odor. I figured all the rooms were in the same condition. The towels had stains on them and some of them had been very worn with much of the terry cloth rubbed away. ||I couldn't get to sleep because I'm highly allergic to smoke and I was so stuffed up I could barely breathe. I called the front desk at midnight and said that I could not stay another night. It's still pending but hopefully they won't make me pay for the second night. I got up in the middle of the night to go to the restroom and there was a roach in there. I was on the second floor. The people in the room above me were up late walking loudly, not the hotels fault but it just added to the discomfort of this place. ||The room was spacious and the AC worked well but I had booked a king size bed and both rooms only had a queen. The hair dryer was precariously hanging off a nub from something that was previously mounted and didn't work for what was currently there. The staff was nice enough but this place is so run down and creepy, I would not suggest staying here.||I ended up going to the Hampton Inn a couple of buildings over for a very comfortable stay for only $20 more. BTW, my clothes smelled of smoke when I opened up my bag at my new...
