This location is quite a good deal. It has easy access to most places in Bend, OR without being obscenely expensive. Wanted to use the pool and spa but we were just too tired lol. It did look very clean and well kept. The included free breakfast was actually quite good. There were mixed flavors of mini muffins, cereal, bagels, English muffins and bread plus a toaster for them. Scrambled eggs that were a pleasant surprise, brown and serve sausage and make you own waffles that were also a surprise. Fresh mixed fruit for toppings as well as prerequisite jams / jellies and butter and syrups. Yogurt and whipped cream are also provided. Standard drinks of two coffees (dark and breakfast) plus flavored creamers, but no decaf, which was disappointing, orange and apple juice and a couple other options like ensure. The staff in this room were amazing. It was very clean and well stocked.
Rooms were clean but slightly on the small side with no table to eat or play games at and the tv was the biggest disappointment with lots of interference despite the decent choices of channels. There is an alcove like area that holds the microwave and single cup coffee maker, that does include two decaf pods plus a regular pod. The furniture was high quality but pretty standard. Clock and bedside lamps had charging ports and electrical outlets built in which is a very nice feature. Room AC was very powerful with wall thermostat / controls as well as on board control panel. Beds were clean and comfortable but pillows were lumpy. Standard white hotel towels of good quality but nothing special. The included soaps were a surprise with Dove shampoo and conditioner pumps in shower caddy plus dove body soap at sink plus standard small bar of hand soap. The sink is accessible even when someone is busy taking a shower or using the toilet. Smart design with a door separating the sink from shower/toilet area. Shower is standard tub shower design with standard showerhead. Great water pressure but temperature is subject to change.
All in all a very good choice for those on a budget but still want some luxury. Would rank this near the top of sub $100 a night hotels in the area.
edit post script: I did read some other reviews just to confirm my suspicions about Ben the "manager", who seemed particularly useless and the property would be much better off without him. I did not see him do a single thing while we were there. He sat and read the paper or played on the computer. He did NOT engage with the patrons or do work of ANY kind that I could see. He was absolutely useless. Unless he is an absolute genius in some other unseen / unknown way, Ben seems much more of a liability...
Read moreEdited due to owner response: You're sorry about my bad experience??? What about the money that was stolen from me when I didn't stay two nights????
I would have given the LaQuinta Inn 4-5 stars before my wife's encounter with the manager Ben. And after reading several reviews it sounds like Ben needs to brush up on his customer service skills and not be so quick to be right. My wife, son, and animals stayed during a wildfire evacuation. The man at the counter who may have been Ben the manager but am unsure was very kind, accommodating, and cared about our situation. At check out time we weren't sure if we were going to need the room another night as we did not know if our home survived the fire or not. My wife went to the checkout desk and asked the lady the availability they had which wasn't much, however, the lady said she could extend the room until 3pm but let her know before then if we would need the room. My wife put the digital keys in the red bucket that's on the front desk for the keys, as we didn't know if we were coming back or not. Fortunately, we did not need the room and our home was safe. My wife checked our credit card statement and saw we were charged for two nights. She called the hotel and spoke to a lady who said she would get a call from the manager in the next couple of days. My wife never received a call. My wife calls again and speaks to the manager Ben. He was very defensive right away, arguing with her that we were there Sunday night and he saw her. That is a flat out lie as we were at our home, setting our alarm for every hour so we could go outside and check to make sure there were no spot fires. My wife begged Ben to check the security cameras as he would see we weren't there. He argued with her that the lady did not say what she had said. We didn't even have our room keys as my wife put them in the red mop bucket on the front desk. He proceeded to tell my wife she was interrupting him but my wife had to interrupt so he would listen because he would interrupt my wife. He then basically said, "you're being charged for the two nights and this call is being recorded" and then hung up on her. This is how a manger deals with a customer? Argues and hangs up. Even if it were us who was supposed to call to tell them we would not be back, which is not what my wife was told, why not explain that it was my wife's mistake instead of basically calling her a liar and stating we stayed another night when we DID NOT?! Ben is very unprofessional and I hope the La Quinta Inn will address his unprofessionalism that we and others have...
Read moreThis place sucks! My experience from the moment I walked through the front door to check in has been horrible. me and my family rented a room on memorial day for our travels for pretty much one reason and that was for the indoor pool and hot tube when walking In I waved to the front desk lady and said hi she stared at me and I walked up to the counter pulled my phone out to show my reservation and begain to say hi I have reservation for tonight and as I say that the lady shoves her hand out almost knocking my phone out of my hand to say in a rude snarle sir I am busy with other people you can go sit down and wait for me to call you. There was no line. No sign, no indication that I needed to be called up to get checked in. There was other people sitting in the lobby I guess to be called up to check in but to me it was pretty clear she treated the 2 other guys the same way she treated me because she called the next guy up and you can just tell he was hesitant to walk up to the counter. Once it was my turn to check in I noticed a sign on the pool door that said at 5pm (an hour after check in) the pool will be closed witch was a surprise to me and I asked the lady if that sign was for today and she says yes they are closing it today for a while for a remodel. I flat out told that lady wow if I would of known that I wouldn't have stayed here and she just goes into how amazing the pool will be when it's done and I flat out told her well that dont help us now. I would of stayed somewhere cheaper that had no pool if I knew all this was gonna happen. We get our keys and go to our room and right when you open the door the room smells weird, walked over to the window, to see where we are located is next to a place where people are working right outside our window, the bathroom smells strong of mildew! The walls are water damaged and painted over. The shower was a joke! literally had to shower bent over because the shower head is not tall enough for anyone except maybe children, the bathroom sink is broken and wouldn't drain so we had to use the bath tube to wash our hands after using the bathroom. The beds were hard and the blankets smelled like dust or something. This place was overly priced for the same quality as the Buddget Inn bend down the street. I will never stay here again! Overly priced! worste hotel...
