La mission has been on my list for a while and glad I finally got to try it out!
Now strolling around with a 2 month old ain't no joke but La Mission made it so easy for us! Just a 10min walk from North Berkeley BART, plenty of indoors and outdoors seating options and a chilled out attitude made it easy for young parents like ourselves.
We sat outside and loved the breeze. Overall place is quite clean and so are the bathrooms. Service is friendly and fast :) Prices are quite on the upper side perhaps slightly cheaper than my favorite spot Casa Latina which is close by.
Between the two of us we shared:
2 Baja fish tacos $11.4 (side of rice and pinto beans) 2 Enchiladas plato with poblano mole (pork) and guajillo mole (chicken) Tres Leches Flan
Baja fish tacos were lovely - crispy and light full of flavor! Tad expensive for almost $6 each but worth it. Enchiladas were absolutely amazing - totally in love with their moles and especially the guajillo which was new for us. I would skip the pork (a tad dry) and stick with chicken.
The more I try tres leches the more I realise i'm not a big fan. I've had a lot of tres leches in Albania (where I'm from) but it's made differently than here, it is more swimming in milk than cakey but hubby kinda liked the cake-y style of it. I on the other hand am totally a flan girl - this flan was rich and lovely.
Can't wait to be back to try more from...
Read moreThis place is such a disappointment I payed for two burritos which ended up costing me $26 most places when they ask what sauce you want on your burrito either mean that it’s free or at the very least cheap I didn’t realize that when I added sour cream and guacamole that it was be $2.50 each I was with a friend that didn’t want much on their burrito so theirs was cheaper but still I go in there and see the burritos were almost $10 already and was fine with that because I didn’t feel like going to a different place so I just ordered here. The food took super long to come out I waited there for 30 minutes and I only got two burritos there were people there that had ordered before me that had not even gotten their food by the time I left. But the worst part of this place was that I didn’t even get free chips in my order I did get salsa for free(I think it was free) but my other friend also ordered a very expensive burrito and he didn’t even get salsa in his. I could go to Gordo’s burritos on college ave for the same goodness a nice atmosphere and half the price (if someone goes here and complains about the atmosphere there their just too white) This place total let down I will say it all tasted good but good lord I would never...
Read moreI went to La Mission the other day and I don’t know what happened, but this place fell off harder than a brick off a bridge . I dropped twenty-nine bucks. twenty-nine, for a burrito and a slice of cake. That’s half a car payment in some towns. The burrito had crunchy rice in it, like they cooked it in a pencil sharpener. And all the guac, sour cream, super sauce? It was all shoved down in one corner like it was trying to move out of the neighborhood. One bite dry as chalk, the other bite felt like a slip-n-slide with dairy. And here’s the kicker — not even a little side of chips or salsa to go. Nothing. Just me and a twenty-nine-dollar sadness wrap. At this point, Juan’s place and Berkeley Bowl burritos are running circles around La Mission. Shoot, I’d rather spend the money at Taco Bell and let my stomach roll the dice. La Mission used to be fire when I worked in Berkeley, I’d hit it every day for lunch. Now? Zero consistency. Hahaha but also la mission is just a solid 4/10. No side of chips or even a salsa to go is wild.
But hey by all means, make your money....
