Solid food, too many mistakes... we switched from La Mission to Montecristo a couple of years ago because La Mission was consistently inconsistent. Sadly, Montecristo has followed suit and we've had a few recent experiences that lead me to not return.
The most recent was 2 weeks ago. I ordered via their online ordering platform (when you just go to their website via Google). I was able to easily complete the transaction and our order for 3 burritos totaled about $33 w/out tax and tip. I went in person to pick it up, they asked my name and handed me my order - 3 burritos, one veggie, one carnitas and one rice and bean. Got it home to find that it was absolutely not my order at all, so called them and told them right away. They said bring it back, so I did, and they then proceeded to try to tell me that it was my fault for not checking. "I'm going to stop you right there. Respectfully..." and I let them know that it is their responsibility to get the right orders into the right hands since it is their system they put in place. I checked my receipt. It looked right, the price was a little higher but I thought because of tax, and the food items listed sounded like what we ordered, plus everything was all wrapped up. Well, then came the excuses about a new system, how the online ordering doesn't work properly, how someone else had also picked up the wrong order (probably mine in retrospect) and it backed them up, how it was their shift change, etc, etc. They offered to refund me and remake my food. So I waited another 20 minutes (its been an hour now) and got my correct 3 burritos - or so I thought. Again, all wrapped up, I get them home to find that one burrito is not what I ordered, everything is cold, and the refried beans in the kid burrito are rancid and fermented. I was pretty furious and hungry at that point so I called again and spoke to the manager again and he claimed he'd refund my orders. I am...
Read moreI’ve been going to this place and getting the same thing for more than 7 years, they are so stingy with the shrimp like is it like shrimp are rare in California or something, service is not great with the cashier guy is there I believe his name is Angel, he seems like someone forced him to work there. I ordered online today paid extra $5 for shrimp, I received a soggy quesadilla with barely any cheese in it full of grilled onions and no shrimps, I called and the guy said the kitchen forgot it but I can see that he input the order incorrectly. So I had to drive to the restaurant and pick up another quesadilla just to be disappointed again, they only put 3 shrimp and I paid for 5. I don’t know if the chef is different but this is nothing like the quesadilla I used to get there I even got all my friends to order it and they loved it. For almost $20 quesadilla you would expect enough meat and cheese in it. I also ordered two pupusas for my son omg like worst pupusas on the planet barely had any cheese or beans in them, you basically just eat a crusty tortilla, Curtido had no flavor whatsoever. Will not go back or...

Two of my close friends had a bad experience at Taqueria Monte Cristo in Berkely. Last Sunday night, May 12. They got there around 11:35pm and there were 2 or 3 people that were in there already. They got their food and still had about 15 mins till closing. A cop came in to eat and they finished eating. And then the cop walked up to them and told them they didn't do anything wrong but the lady wants them to leave and that she doesn't feel safe. They were asked to leave just because ummm the server was going thru...
