We didnt stay at this hotel, let me explain why: I was supposed to stay at this hotel for a night on May 20th as I was planning a Route 395 loop around the Sierra Nevadas. I had booked this hotel through Expedia so I understood the cancellation and booking rules. Unfortunately my trip was delayed and later cancelled because one of our vehicles broke down on our way to Bishop. I called them initially and they were nice enough to push the night stay for Monday, May 22. When it became apparent that our car would not be fixed in time, I called Expedia to cancel the night stay or maybe postpone this trip to later in the summer well before the 24 hour deadline. Expedia called the hotel and stated the hotel didn’t want to refund the money or postpone the trip for us to visit at a later time. Expedia confirmed that going forward I would have to go through the hotel for the change of the date. When I contacted the hotel, the hotel manager stated it was Expedia’s rules that dictated that they couldn’t refund or modify the reservation. The manager was apparently hoping to give me the run around and eventually hope I forget about the $256 per night x 2 rooms = $512 that they charged my credit card.
When I reached out to the hotel manager again, his message verbatim to me on the chat was: WE WILL NOT BE REFUNDING THE CHARGE!
I replied with, we are not asking for a refund, we are asking to change the night so we can still visit the Bishop area and support the local economy at a later time. I want to share the disastrous fiasco I had with management at this specific Holiday Inn Express. Im in shock that in this day and age of technology, the hotel manager would actually disrespect and treat potential customers with such appalling disregard. With the manager replying to me in such fashion, Im thinking that even if they modify the booking, I will not feel physically safe to stay at this hotel and much less put my family at risk with this manager running the hotel.
Unbelievable how this manager would lack such respect for a customer that has always stayed at Holiday Inn Expresses across the US and have been a loyal customer for years. This manager needs to be retrained and moved out of this position if Holiday Inn wants to keep their slogan intact: Our Purpose of True...
Read moreI've stayed here twice now. Once in May 2024 and once in October 2024. My first overnight on my way home from Lake Tahoe was a solid HIE experience. The hotel has a few quirks, like the elevator on one end of the long hotel, which they explain on a sign in the elevator. But it was everything my mom and I needed. At that time, we were in a 2 bed room on the 2nd floor.
My most recent stay was terrible. I was traveling solo and was placed in an accessible room on the first floor. I hate accessible rooms. As someone who doesn't need one, the accessible shower is awkward and leaky... water gets everywhere. There was no way for the shower head to stay up so I could use both hands while showering. But I can deal with an accessible room. I was booking with points, so maybe that's all they had left. I am a platinum elite member of IHG, so I really, really hope they didn't have anything left.
The room itself was in poor repair. While the room was technically clean, it felt dingy, like it needed a deep cleaning. The carpet was gross, and not in a way that could be vacuumed up. The shade on the light was torn, the shade on the window was torn, the desk lamp was broken and wouldn't turn off, so I unplugged it. In the morning, there were some ants by the coffee machine (not a lot... maybe a dozen or so). The whole place gave me the ick.
When I arrived at like 10pm, after driving for 7 hours, there was no one at the front desk. There was a sign they'd be back soon, but it was frustrating to have to wait another 10 minutes after such a long drive and so late at night. When the clerk came back, there was no apologies for the wait.
The breakfast was standard for HIE, thank goodness! Breakfast is served in the small lobby, which is just another quirk of this hotel.
If my 2nd experience had been my first, I'd have stayed overnight in Lone Pine instead. My first experience was a 3.5 star experience and my 2nd experience was a 1 star experience. So I'm honestly not sure if I'd stay here again. Maybe once the filth and ants are a distant memory, I'd...
Read moreI chose this location for my annual free IHG night. Upon checking, If I had been able to retain my free night, I would have not spent the night at this location and checked out once I seen the room and premises. Once I seen the room, I contacted staff and requested that they make note on my paperwork about the filthy floors in the room at check-in.
Carpets can become stained for whatever reason; however, these stains were stains on an already filthy carpet that appears not to have been cleaned/shampooed for an extended period of time.
Staff stated that they the premises was 11 years old and will be soon installing new carpets. Probably would have helped if they had been shampooed more frequently.
I have been staying at Holiday Inns for years and I will honestly say this was the worst I have stayed at from a housekeeping standpoint. The main reason I generally stay at Holiday Inns is that you can expect cleanliness. When we were having breakfast the next morning, I also overheard another guest complaining to his wife about the cleanliness of their room.
Aside from the housekeeping, the room rates, reward points for a room was overpriced. The night before I had stayed at your Holiday Inn Express Carson City, NV on reward nights.
The Carson City Holiday Inn had excellent staff and housekeeping and a reasonable priced rewards night. I also completed a survey on this location that came in at 8 out of 10 and would return on my trips to the area.
I would highly recommend that someone in the IHG authority conduct an inspection of the Bishop, CA premises.
I do not judge the Holiday inn organization on this one stay, however in my opinion this location is just not within acceptability standards of the Holiday Inn Group and I will never return to...
