I'd rate this place even worse if I could BEWARE!!
Very very rude people. Specialy the Indian man who goes by the name Harry.
Attempt # 1. I called them to make a reservation, I was asked for my phone number so they can call me back in 1 hr so we can book the room.(During the entire conversation he sounded irritated and bothered as if I woke him up burdened him). 2 - 3 hours passed, no call.
Attempt # 2. I called back requesting a reservation once again. Same guy picked up. I asked if he was available now to book over the phone. With a sigh he said yes, and took down my info almost as if he was rushing me off. We confirmed the dates and hung up.(during the transaction I had an uneasy feeling like he messed something up, specialy when he said I'll see you tomorrow when im booking the room for 3 days later).
Attempt # 3. A day passed by i kept thinking why he said that, did he gey the dates wrong. Must be a mistake let me call and confirm so i dont ruin my annual fishing trip. This time a lady picks up. I tell her i want to confirm my reservations. She takes down my info looks it up and confirms for the days inhad chosen (mon-wed). So I hang up at ease.
Come Monday (my check in date I get a voicemail saying my reservation is cancled due to no show. I asked hows that possible its today and I drove 40 miles to get here. She says it was for sunday you didnt show. I said is the room available now still must have been a communication error. Before I can finish the same guy grabbed the phone from the lady and started arguing with me. Telling me I was wrong and he wrote it down and calling me a liar. At this point I told him I dont want to argue with you, it was a miss understanding and if the rooms available I am in town. Before I can finish my sentence he...
Read moreIf I could give 5 negative stars, I would. Place was gross. Smelled like urine coming out of the AC window unit, which blows straight to the bed, with NO temp control, just low, med, high. Horrible smell and cold air, I ended up with a chest cold. I took my sandals off and was barefoot, and after walking around this postage stamp sized room, my feet were BLACK. No exaggeration. THE BEDDING -threadbare and tacky. There was actually a leopard print acrylic blanket, you know fleamarket style? The bed was old and had springs that made noise when turning over (boing)! The head was sloped down like it was broken down, and you get two child size pillows for sleeping. Bring your own everything. Seriously…these people should not be running a motel. The only nice thing was the end unit that backed to a nice grassy area BUT we were 1 of 3 guests at this motel, and they put us right next door to someone whose car was parked next to our front door. |The fridge worked and there’s a coffee maker with 1 decaf and 1 regular coffee packet and 1 packet of sugar per cup and I stir stick to share. Really?? |Cheap AF. The room is expensive for what you get. |TV remote did not work properly to enter channels. Went to office and manager gave us a remote to make it work, but we had to return it. Seriously?|We asked for a couple more sugars in the morning and he was reluctant to give us extra. |IDK this was the worst motel I’ve ever stayed at, and I’ll never stay...

As a longtime visitor to Bishop with 25 years of experience in the Eastern Sierra, I was disappointed by my late-night encounter at the Elms. The proprietor—woken from sleep—seemed immediately irritated by basic questions about noise and cleanliness. He refused to show the room, then said, “No, all the rooms are dirty,” before shutting the door and turning off the light. I was ready to book, but the interaction made it impossible. It’s poor form for a hotelier to decline service to a traveler late at night merely for politely asking basic questions about what he’s about to purchase. Maybe he was having a bad night, or maybe he knew the rooms really weren’t up to standard. Either way, savvy travelers should be cautious. This spot’s best days appear to be well behind it. Far better options nearby include Eastside Guesthouse, Mountain View, Day’s Inn, Cielo, Best Western, and Holiday Inn Express. For budget stays, Hostel California is reliable. Or head to Lone Pine for the Starlight Motel or Big Pine Motel—clean, honest,...
