I phoned the hotel in September and explained that we had a group of seven coming for Thanksgiving, and would be needing two rooms to accommodate this group. At no time was I ever informed that there would be an additional per person charge over two people per room. In addition, I also mentioned that we had a baby traveling with us and would need a crib, which I was told wouldn't be a problem.
The group traveling to Creekside does an annual trip we all take every year together, flying in from different areas around the country to meet up.
Upon check-in, we were informed that a crib wasn't available, that there is only one for the entire hotel, that the other cribs were broken and our only option was to go to Kmart and buy our own. This was unexpected, and was not something we planned on dealing with after traveling for twelve hours that day. Plus, the additional expense of having to purchase a crib and then figure out a way to travel with it all the way back home. The customer service was severely lacking, as I've worked in the hotel industry, and would have approached this much differently. There could have at least been an offer for someone from the hotel to go to Kmart and pick up the crib. At no time were we informed at this time that there would be an additional charge for extra guests.
After going to Kmart, purchasing the crib and then returning back to the hotel, as we were walking by the front desk where we were then told about the extra charge. We never would have stayed at the Creekside with this type of fee.
Since we were so exhausted from traveling and in no mindset to deal with figuring out these extra charges, we went to discuss this with the front desk in the morning. For reference, we were there for seven nights, with two rooms. After asking for a manager, we were informed she was too busy to come and speak with us. Eventually, Becky came to talk to us and told us she would rather have us leave the hotel as they could easily re-book the room, rather than try to figure out a solution. This was unbelievable! The answer to our problem was to tell us to leave? 7 people over Thanksgiving?! With a baby in tow! We felt so stuck, and in all honesty, our vacation was ruined- after saving vacation time and money for a year- all ruined due to the terrible experience we had and lack of customer service. We ate breakfast at the bakery down the street every morning as we were told the extra twenty dollars per person per night was for the breakfast. So we purposely skipped that. Sadly, as nice as the decor of the hotel was, the attitude from the Manager was so off putting and terrible, that the decor couldn't make up for it.
This was truly one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. What was supposed to be a great time of spending the holidays with loved ones turned into a nightmare. **I've also emailed this review to Jessica, their Guest Services person and she has not responded at all. Their customer service is missing the...
Read moreThe room was fantastic. The facilities were great! Its the customer service, the hidden fees, and not getting what was paid for that was aggravating! We stayed there 5/31. When I checked in, we were not given a receipt. and we were told it would be $169.99 with taxes To me that means $169.99 total, not PLUS 30 dollars of taxes! I did not know there was a hidden service charge of $27! I was never made aware of it until I looked at my emailed receipt later on (more about this). We got in late at night. The stay and the room were great! Not sure if I have ever slept on a comfier mattress at night. Okay, on to the morning. When we booked (by phone) we made sure they had breakfast available, or we would have booked elsewhere. Due to remodeling, they only had sack lunch style breakfasts available to take back to rooms. That was fine, so we booked. The problem is, I went to the lobby the next morning at 8am, but they had already run out of breakfasts! It was my pregnant wife, me, and my two children staying. So we went next door to Schatt's for breakfast ($30). The rest of the morning was great, until check out. My wife went to check us out, she asked if anything would be taken off our bill (on principle! we are not beggars. I was a guest service manager for a hotel at one point and customers should receive what was paid for) since we did not receive what we were promised, nor was there any alternative given. She was rudely answered by Ricky. She asked to see a manager, and the man said there was no manager on duty (there should alway be an acting manager on duty at check out time)! She asked for a receipt and he said they don't give receipts!!!! Thats against the law actually. She asked what he could do, and he said he would email one. My wife then asked if he had her email. He did not, so he took it then. Finally, after she had come out, I went in one last time to fill my coffee. The two front desk staff were talking about how terrible the interaction was with my wife (They must have been new because my wife never yelled, never demanded, and I can tell you about nightmare stories from when I was a Guest Service Manager). Quite unprofessional. I was looking forward to the stay, and had heard good things about the place. The place itself really was great, but the staff and fact that they didn't even have enough breakfast for those staying, nor were they going to do anything about it, and the hidden fees turned this stay into a "Rather go back to staying across the street at the Holiday Inn" kind of stay. If you can put up with terrible customer service and high prices for the scenery and the room, stay here. Otherwise, go across the street to Holiday Inn or somewhere else. I haven't stayed anywhere else besides those two so I can't suggest...
Read moreI had a painful experience with this hotel and its staff members.
I booked a room for my holidays 3 moths ago, with my credit card, for the night between the 8th and the 9th of August.
In the meantime, my credit card was stolen in France, where I lived, and I got it renewed.
It happened that when I arrived at the Creekside Inn hotel in Bishop, the staff told me without any embarassment that my reservation had been cancelled because my credit card, when tested on the morning, was refused. They also told me that there wasn't any room left, so I had no solution but to leave...
First of all, this cancellation is not legal: the reservation had been cancelled without noticing me. I had no phone call, no email, nothing. Just the cancellation. The staff told me it was its policy, but I checked, and I have an automatic email as a proof, that they cancelled my reservation at 2 pm, when the policy mentioned says that cancellation may occur at 6 pm when the credit card is declined. As I arrived before 6 pm, I should have had my room, and I could have pay with my new credit card. When I explained all of this, I've just been told that I was right, and that I had to press charges and see what would end up from all this !! That's unbelievable !
Secondly, I've never been treated the way this staff treated me: they lied to me, saying the reservation was cancelled at the right time according to their policy when obviously it was not, and they acted really rudely. When I asked for a compensation (I basically asked to - at least - benefit from the breakfast), they said they couldn't do anything for me. This is taking people for fools...
Michele, the staff member in charge that day, concluded by "this conversation has to end in my lobbie, and I have to take care of real customers, who did pay for their room".
I contacted the manager afterwards and she found everything was normal. This hotel is basically a cash machine without any consideration for...
