A very good cafe in Bishop which was spacious and cute at the same time. This cafe looked great with sierra nevada mountains in the background. We have ordered Velvet Elvis Espresso Drink - which was a combination of caramel, while chocolate & espresso. I will say this drink was comforting , but it could have been better if the coffee flavor was little more intense. The reason I rated this place 5 on 5 even though their coffee is not the best when compared to some other cafes I have tried, is because of their egg beet bowl. I can still remember how good it tasted. It was a bowl with all fresh ingredients , lettuce , sprouts, beets, argula leaves , Brussel sprouts (crunchy & baked) topped off perfectly with two eggs , some chipotle sauce and one of the best , rich, luxurious , creamy Feta cheese I have ever had. The beets in the bowl with its sweet flavor complemented well with the crunchy Brussel sprouts and the rich feta cheese took the whole bowl to next level . This bowl was healthy , wholesome and delicious. If I ever visit this cafe I will have the Egg beet bowl again and again. Their service was a bit slow I felt, we have waiting for close to 30mins to get our order which was a drawback. When in Bishop I recommend to visit this cafe for sure and try their egg beet bowl.

This was my first time in this coffee shop and unfortunately might be my last. The environment here is great and the cashier was nice. However, the coffee, not so much . If you drink Starbucks, you might find it alright, but if you're a coffee lover, you may be disappointed. I ordered a cappuccino and I saw the barista scooped the milk foam out of the pitcher and put it in my cappuccino. That's not the way to make a cappuccino. Properly frothed milk doesn't even create a foam like that. The espresso in it also was terrible. It's not the barista's fault of course, it's just the way they were trained. I expected a small town coffee shop with 4.6 stars to at least serve me a decent cup of coffee.

Big city options and variety in a small town. Family obligations keep me in the Bay Area but as much as possible I am boondocking and surviving on whatever I can find for caffeine on the quiet side of CA. Looney Bean brings the options that you would find in the Bay unique salads, vegan options and great pastries without all of the people. I had the Watermelon Radish and Cucumber salad and it was tastefully assembled and delicious. Plus the cashier and Barista were very nice and patient as I’m a bit slow due to brain damage and while I don’t demand special treatment I always notice how people react to me just being.

May 2019 The worst espresso!!! (Need to clean the machine) Tried to drink without or with creme. Impossible! So bad that I rejected!! Replaced with cup of coffee which was good. What happened to good plain espresso!!!! Barristas clean your machines!!! Also ordered french toast. Beautiful presentation with whip cream and strawberries sprinkled with almond slivers. Probably the best french toast that I've ever had, but I was called when it was COLD, so butter would not melt. No butter served with it, so had to retrieve from refrigerator myself. The digital tipping is an issue too. What service???The min. automated percent tip offered when paying by credit card was 15 percent, but could do custom tip which took more time, awkward and cumbersome. I WAS NEVER SERVED!!! I was called. I retrieved everything, coffee, meal, silverware, napkins, butter, water, take out food, etc! NO SERVICE!!! The majority of my bill was take out, lunch for 2 people, so no service again as retrieved from fridge. Used custom tip. This custom tip seemed to miff the counter staff!!

June 2019 A month after posting above. Great regular coffee!! Go here just for that, but Great Basin Bakery and Starbucks (pourover) sell great reg. coffee w shorter line. Saw why hot food is served cold. Sits in window with my name never called and too busy even when waiting standing there to break from another order to serve, so just watched it get cold. Also saw another hot meal ahead of mine sit on counter for a long time with no effort to recall name to pick up food.

Bought all sorts of sandwiches here over the last few months but have learned that they are better sandwiches elsewhere!! They aren't as good as pre-made sandwiches at Manor Market or Mahogany Meats delli. Todays egg salad sandwich too, which tasted only like egg, copious mayonnaise and lettuce. Very bland. Needed something else even mustard, celery seed, mild onion, pickle, etc. Also bought a roast beef sandwich for dinner as on the move. It came w mustard and mayonnaise but the meat had so much gristle I couldn't eat the meat and finish the sandwich.

The counter staff again seemed to look for tip at check out. Looked and made comment on tip. I did tip, but REALLY what for: buying a cup of coffee and pre-packaged take out food at counter and cold 'hot food'???? ...

I have been driving between NorCal and SoCal anywhere from once a month to a few times a year for the last decade. When I first found this place about 7 years ago they were amazing. It was all about the hot beverages, and they had an amazing green tea selection- including a lovely jasmine. Since they expanded a few years ago I have watched the tea and service decline- the more popular this place gets, the worse it is. The hot jasmine green tea is gone, and when the worker suggested a replacement (and keep in mind I have learned to say HOT when ordering tea) it turned out to be iced. It's also clearly not actually brewed- it was made with syrup. It's not tea- it's disgusting pink sugar water. If it weren't for the Swedish chocolate chip cookies I would never come back.

Edit to respond to the owner: I was able to get a new drink- but you cannot tell me the first one didn't have sugar in it. Tea is astringent with a slight bitter taste- its why i like it. The iced version was more like juice. That being said using a readily available bagged tea is part of the problem. You used to use a much higher quality loose leaf that was expressed with hot water almost like coffee. I can buy Republic of Tea anywhere. You guys used to be special and now you are just another mediocre coffee shop with inattentive staff who are more interested in their phones than...
