Read moreThe woman at the front counter when I checked in was wonderful. She was very nice, polite, and informative. She was the one saving grace in our whole experience. Unfortunately though, she was not enough to make us stay here again. I have stayed at the Bishop Motel 6 several times in the past, but I do think this may be my last time.
At first glance, our room looked clean. However, upon a closer look, it was definitely NOT clean. There was something disgusting dried and crusted on one of the bathroom towels. Honestly, it looked like someone blew their nose in it and then it didn't wash out all the way. The dryer just baked whatever it was right into the fibers of the towel. Next, there was blood on the bathroom door. It looked like maybe someone had cut their hand and then grabbed the doorknob. Finally, the bathroom sink was clogged and drained incredibly slowly. The sink would fill up so fast that it was difficult to do anything without accidentally dipping into the rising dirty sink water.
Finally, we did not get a bit of sleep. The people staying in the room above ours were awake ALL NIGHT and were moving about their room THE ENTIRE TIME. I honestly believe they were on drugs. They had to be! It sounded as though they were rearranging the furniture in the room. We could hear things being moved, dragged, and rolled from one side of the room to the other. We could hear every foot step, every movement. It continued all night. I know Motel 6 can't possibly know what every guest will do when they rent a room to them, but this whole experience has made me realize just how paper thin your walls and floors are. Next time I think I will be staying at a hotel with a little more of a buffer between me and the next room. I don't care how much cheaper Motel 6 is than other hotels in the area--if I'm going to be awake and staring at the ceiling the whole night, it's just not worth it. Factor in the filthy room and I'd be willing to pay double...
Read moreI was locked out of my room at 5:15 AM. Three new keys did not work. The master key card did not work. The receptionist said she would call someone so I went across the street to breakfast. I returned to find a different receptionist who looked at notes left by the first one but could not determine what had been done. She offered to try the master key again and pulled the rear office door closed behind her as we went to my room. No luck. We returned to the office and discovered that the receptionist was locked out of the rear office. She had no key. I asked if there was a physical key to unlock my room and she thought it was in the back room, which was now locked. The manager was out of town. The office manager I believe was trying to find a way into the back room. Maintenance was said to have changed some of the locks on the lower floor the day earlier, but not mine on the upper floor. They should return later in the day to finish with the locks. I decided to drive around the local area rather than wait longer; it had been almost two hours by then. Most of my things were locked in my room (briefcase, laptop, sunglasses, earbuds, clothes, etc.). So I decided not to do the all day hike I had come to Bishop to do and instead did a driving tour. I returned about 3:00 in the afternoon and got new keys from a third receptionist. They did not work. She tried the master key and it did not work. She called the office manager who brought the physical key and finally opened my door. He gave me a key to the room next door and I moved my things. He told me that lock had been serviced during the day and had worked earlier. He mentioned the maids and I believed he said they had been in. When I entered the room had not be made up. I asked for a refund of one day's charges (I stayed two nights) and he said he would have to ask the manager, who was...
