I stayed a night here on a small staycation while my family was out of town. Having visited once in 2019 and been blown away by the service and rooms, I had high expectations on this visit in 2021. And they were met—and then some!
Location is unbeatable; the property is a short walk to both campus and downtown/Kirkwood Ave. Local buses have stops across the street too, and airport shuttle service GoExpress Travel makes a stop at the hotel as well (reservation required). Connectivity is incredible.
The hotel is not too new, yet it feels like it was resurrected yesterday. The halls and lobby areas are THAT well-maintained. Cleanliness is taken extremely seriously.
As I remembered succinctly from last time, customer service rocked. Everyone I encountered exhibited the best hospitality you’ll find in town. There is a valid reason this place is a full five stars (and ranked #1 in town on TA).
Rooms are wonderful, with comfy beds, plenty of space, ample desk space and charging stations, and amenities you’d take advantage of on longer stays. As usual, I requested a quiet room away from major streets (i.e. College Ave), and the side room I was given fulfilled my expectations of peace. While I can’t praise the hotel enough, I will state an interesting observation…my TV couldn’t turn on during my stay. I did everything possible to aim the remote properly and get close enough, but it didn’t want to start. This is clearly a fluke, so it doesn’t affect my review. However, I would’ve mentioned it to staff if I were staying longer than a single night.
So with free breakfast, spotless rooms, unbelievable urban proximity, and the best service in Btown, I recommend everyone reserve at the Springhill Suites. The TripAdvisor ranking says for itself, anyway. Another...
Read moreI have stayed at this property a few times in the past and I have always had a good experience. I even encouraged my company to host out annual meeting at the hotel, which we did on 10/30/19. My experience this time was NOT good at all. First, after checking in and getting to my room I realized that they gave my 2 beds rather than the King that I requested. I went back to the desk to switch rooms and was told that there was nothing they could do about it because I was on the government rate. All other members of my party were accommodated with what they requested except me. Luckily, a team member of mine gave up his room for me. I am an elite member and booked earlier than everyone else in my party so I was confused that I was the only one to not be accommodated with my request. I also requested to NOT have my room cleaned so I could get the points instead. The lady who checked me in never entered this into the system, therefore they cleaned the room and I did not get the points. This is terrible customer service in my opinion. After I checked out and left the hotel, I realized that a charge was added to my bill that I did not authorize. When I called they were able to refund my card, but I'm still confused on how the charge was there to begin with. The man on the phone told me that someone must have used my room number when purchasing something from the market. You don't ask for ID when someone is charging something to the room? So in theory, I could buy whatever I wanted and use an erroneous room number to bill it to? This seems like awful business practice. We always choose Spring Hill suites when we are in town, but I will be rethinking that...
Read moreHad to come down to Bloomington for a funeral and got a good rate through Marriott Rewards. This is a very nice hotel in downtown that is within walking distance of everything that is going on here. The hotel is only three years old and it shows compared to other Springhill Suites that I have stayed at previously. The hotel and rooms are very modern. We are staying in a two queen, sofabed suite and it is very spacious. The use of the sliding door in the bathroom and the walk-in closet are nice touches. The beds are a little hard which bothered my wife but I slept comfortably. Also, the door for the bathroom has a glass panel which allows the light the light in the bathroom to illuminate the room in the middle of the night which our daughter did to us. These are small things though. The lobby is very nice with a bar. I saw many guests congregating there last night as we passed through. The space is very open and inviting. The breakfast area is behind the bar and it is very nice. Most hotels have there breakfast area in a small, cramped space but not here. The area allows guests to get their food without feeling like they are on top of one another. This good because the food is excellent. The staff here is also very friendly and professional. Josh, the young gentleman who checked us in last night, was a pure delight. All the staff have been great. Asking how the room was, if we were enjoying our stay, adding that extra little touch. They even have students from the university studying Tourism and Hospitality working here. A great experience for them. I highly recommend staying at this hotel if your are in the...
