I had never been to a Golden Corral since they changed the name from Old Country Buffet. Honestly, I use to love the salad bar at OCB and it was worth it for me to have the perfect junk salad just the way I like it, however GC has not kept the same standards or salad bar and we were all so disappointed. I figured the steak would make up for it, but again, I was wrong and disappointed. Spent $88 for 7 people (3 adults, 3 children 4-8, 1 child 8-12) + tip for the waiter, and it was the worst money I ever spent at a restaurant. The plates were scratched, stained, and used to heck, the only indication they were clean was that they were hot. My son flat out refused to eat the food because the plates appeared dirty and every single plate I picked up for him had either a dried piece of food on it or it was scratched with dirt or food embedded in it. There were 2 plate stations and we couldn't find a clean plate between them, until the 2nd round The restaurant itself was dank, crowded, and just plain dirty, but you can't tell until you're in there and have already paid. The food areas were questionable, the salad area was unacceptably nasty, the staff were standing around talking to each other instead of keeping their stations presentable, and the wait staff we had were overwhelmed. At the end of our miserable adventure, there were little girls in the bathroom using their phones to make a music video with peoples privacy being invaded and when I asked them nicely to think about where they are recording, they laughed and ignored me, so walked out after washing my hands. I spoke with the waitress we had and she shrugged her shoulders and walked away as there was no manager to be spotted. The spaghetti was watery and cold and the mostaccioli was also cold it had what looked like mozzarella cheese in it but it was so hard because it was cold. The mashed potatoes the Fried Chicken had an aftertaste that was not good. The sweet potato with marshmallows was cold and also had a taste like plastic. We couldn't figure out why everything tasted like plastic. Is it because the food is covered with plastic wool it is inside the heated containers that hold the food until it's needed to be put out? I was so sad and so is my family that this was a horrible horrible experience to have to have food to taste of this bad. This is the first Golden Corral I have ever been to that had bad food in cold food which was supposed to be hot I will be calling the Health Inspector to go check out what is wrong. We had diarrhea for 2 days. We will never recommend or go to this Golden Corral in Bolingbrook again. It should be shut down an inspected buy a health inspector before he opened again. This is not normal to be taste and plastic on food. The only food that I could say that tasted like food was a piece of steak I had that was cooked medium but it was too tough to eat and some little tiny breaded shrimp other than that the food was horrible I usually never never give negative reviews especially this bad of a review. But it was awful and getting diarrhea for 2 days was awful also. We were wondering why on a Friday night it's 6:00 p.m. if the parking lot was empty and the restaurant was half empty. Read moreCame here with my family (4 of us) on 7/15/19. I am from out of state/traveling and never been or heard about “Golden Corral”. I decided to have some banana pudding mid “dinner”, in my banana pudding I found a black mustache or beard hair. At that point I lost my appetite and asked to speak to the manager. The manager apologized and informed me he would swap out the banana budding and asked me if I would like some more. I explained at that point my appetite was gone. I asked if I could be compensated for my meal because I would not be eating anymore food ( I was upset because I wasn’t finished) He stated he could not refund my meal. I asked him if he would lose his appetite and continue to eat if he found a hair in his food. He stated HE WOULD CONTINUE TO EAT. I said SO YOU WOULD CONTINUE EATING WITH A FOREIGN PIECE OF HAIR THAT YOU DID NOT KNOW WHERE IT CAME FROM THAT WAS IN YOUR FOOD? He said yes. He then said he could give me a $5 gift certificate to come back. I explained to him I live out of state and I am traveling and we do not have a Golden Corral. He said HE DIDNT THINK HE COULD REFUND MY MONEY. I said well why don’t you THINK you can’t refund it? He said it was against company policy. I said so which is it you don’t think you can or it’s against company policy? He said he cannot. I then said I would be calling corporate to see about said policy.
