During my stay on August 1st, the whole plan was to celebrate my daughter's birthday and I have to admit her birthday would not have been the same without the help of the staff at Residence Inn in Bolingbrook. Every single employee who knew it was her birthday stated Happy Birthday to her and showered her with lots of hugs and even special attention. The lady who worked at the bar made my daughter a kiddie cocktail (sprite with grenadine and cherries -oh don't forget those) and now every time we drive past the hotel my daughter says ,"Mommy I need my birthday drink again". Being that it was a surprise to my daughter we requested early check in which they provided to me with no hassle or worry. They even gave me a courtesy call when i could come pick up my key because I checked in through the mobile app. During the party we used the pool and the ladies made sure all the extra towels I requested were present to my room and at the pool side to avoid any interruption to me/or the party. My daughter decided she wanted a hamburger because she saw the young lady on the grill cooking even though we had pizza and they welcomed us to eat the food from the Mixer with open arms. My daughter wished to go to the basketball court a little later in the evening and we needed the lights but they were off. And without any issue the lights were turned on for us. The complimentary breakfast was very kid friendly as my daughter was able to enjoy mini waffles appropriate for her size as well as eggs and her favorite fruit. In conclusion I could go on and on about how amazing of a time we had but I would like to just say collectively as a whole the entire staff did an amazing job providing amazing service and also being accessible. I wish I could name them all because no one person did more to make us happy than the other. We never once had to wait a long time for a response or a request we had which is a general issue we have with our hotel stays. Thank you to everyone at the Residence Inn you made my having my daughter's birthday at your hotel absolutely worth...
Read moreThere are quite a few positives regarding our Hotel stay here. Check in was seamless, newspapers old school, were readily available. We walked around to get familiar with our surroundings and were quite pleased. They had an open swimming pool, which was a little different being exposed to the parking lot for all to see. Will take advantage of it when we return, hopefully it won’t be as many people at that time. Exercise room was quiet and just the right size to not feel closed in. |Now for the room, we had the King Studio. Full kitchen, and open shower. Roomy, classy and not to big. Bed was comfortable, as well as the sectional where the sofa bed was. Everything to make a longer stay easy. Fully equipped kitchen. Walk in shower, leaked all over the floor so we put down the padding that was for the sofa bed to not slip when getting out. Minor considering. |Breakfast was adequate. Fresh eggs, had a mystery meat one day. Looked like a vegan ground meat. Had sausage biscuits individually wrapped which was a plus. When we saw the oat milk we were pleasantly surprised. |Now, for the down side. We were on the first floor, and the barking of dogs in the hallway, and the constant banging all night long from above was quite disturbing. So, to remedy that, we requested a top floor room for next time, so at least we won’t have anyone overhead. Dogs, well, nothing we can do about that. |The other issue was when I made the second reservation, the young woman wouldn’t disclose the COST. The second one did. It varies from night to night pending book time, and how many have made reservations. This information should have been disclosed the first time. Also, do this via a third party, NOT directly at the hotel. The savings is considerable. Taxes and fees are insane, but that’s to be expected. |Looking forward to our next stay, which will be longer, and we will take fuller advantage of the...
Read more!!WARNING NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY!!
Beautiful updated facility. Breakfast server was fantastic! Pool and rooms were clean.
What wasn’t is their weird policies. They make you sign a document that if you were to sum it up is basically a big warning for anyone who wants to have a party. Their rule includes that you cannot have more than five people gathered in one public space. We were planning on getting a pizza and sitting at one of the tables. No big deal, right? Well, because we are a family of seven, two parents five kids, we would not be allowed. Shockingly, I repeated back to the woman “you’re telling me I cannot eat a pizza with my family down here because we have seven people?” She tells me I have that right. I jokingly said “now I have to choose which kids can eat dinner with their family?” She said “yes”. The people behind me were baffled- “she’s not an under age kid trying to have a party, she’s a mom who wants to have dinner with her family.”
Two or so minutes later, I asked to speak to the manager- she said they don’t have managers there on weekends. Baffling, but ok. I asked her what would happen if my family of seven came down to eat, she told me she would ask me to leave. A family of seven, simply wanting to have dinner together.
We ended up too afraid to try to eat downstairs- we didn’t want to risk getting kicked out of a hotel for wanting to stay a family. While the hotel had big rooms, we weren’t able to sit together even in our room.
Not the best experience
So- if you are planning to have any type of FAMILY event, do NOT go to this hotel.
I called corporate, and they told me since I had two rooms, I could have 10 guests. I’ve never been so poorly treated and I’ve been a Marriott status...
