I don't even know where to begin. I had booked this room last minute due to change of plans and lack of available rooms in the area where we needed to be. I have not stayed in a budget room in a long time, but this was beyond the worst experience. How Choice Hotels can lend its name to this location is baffling. I would assume in order to participate in this chain, there are basic standards to be met and upheld. I think they forgot this place existed and/or do not hold them accountable for the lack of care. The same complaints are listed as early as 2013 and the responses indicate they appreciate the comments and will work better to make things right. I would like them to challenge how this was done. Some of the same issues from them still exist.||||My check-in was late due to the travel schedule. I arrived approx 1:30am. and the desk clerk was very nice. However, I did not expect a lot of activity on the grounds, but there was a number of people wandering the parking lot. They kept looking over their shoulder at us and made us so uneasy we waited in a locked car until they settled in one room. As we unloaded our belongings, some older women was standing in the hallway on the seond floor going back and forth from her room to the hallway window overlooking the parking lot and yelling hi at us. With that initial introduction, it took a while to take in the actual premises. There are broken chairs and furniture in front of some of the rooms, and discarded lodge items against a wall in the back, the columns in front were badly damaged and chipped away and someone threw blue paint on a yellow column for some reason. I think this place must rent rooms by the month and people actually live here. It reminded me of the rooms in the movie The Florida Project, althugh the movie lodgings were nicer. What I saw was run down and dirty and nothing like the website. ||||True deceptive advertising and should be actionable to bring suit in small claims court to get a refund and punitive damages for the experience.||||SInce we had an early morning departure, we tried to get to our room and settle in to get sleep. Having a second floor room, we were leary of the stairwell leading up there, it had a stong odor of mold and was filthy. It had not been swept or vacuumed in years. The paint job was amatuerish at best (maybe they hired some children to paint) chips in the sheetrock and a carpet riser was missing, exposing the plywood. There was also a random 4th of July wreath hanging on a wall. We entered our room quickly and in doing so I was so appalled.||||First, I noticed that it was very hot, as we closed the door, we couldn't put the safety lock on beacuse it was not bolted to the door. It was dangling and did not lock at all. Then we noticed that there was a large hole in the wall. I then saw that at one point they had carpet molding edging the room, but whatever material used to hold it in place gave up. It was lying flat on the floor - about 10 feet or more. Then we looked at the bed and saw two brown stains and there were holes in the comforter and the pillows were for toddlers. Looking at the walls, I saw that were chips of paint everywhere and there was graphetti on the metal part of the headboard. The refridgerator was not on, and when we tried to turn on the airconditioner, noticed the plastic windowshade was all torn up. The bathroom is from the 70s, pink broken tile and mold and mildew everywhere.||||All of this was too much, I called the front desk and my main concern was that we could not put the safety latch on. We considered sleeping in the car, but with the people wandering around, that didn't seem like a great option. The front desk clerk was very nice about it and offered another room and said he would give us an upgrade. Essentially that was two queen beds instead of doubles. It was a nice gesture but at that late hour didn't matter.||||Suffice it to say, the second room was just marginally better than the first. That deserves its own review. ||||I did contact Choice Hotels to ask what minimum standards they had and didn't even get a straight answer. They were contacting the lodge to let them know of my complaint, but I would love to speak to the person/department in their company that maintains these locations are up to code and standards of...
Read moreI was just going to pay to use the swimming pool last year with my 1 yr old daughter and she fell asleep right before we approached the front office to pay for the use of the pool. So rather than wake her up and have a tired child try swimming, I decided to let her nap and come back after she's rested. I turned her stroller around and pulled out our towel and covered up her stroller to help give her some better peace and shade during her nap time. We walked next door to grocery store and on the way I see a woman who is yelling at me across the parking lot of price chopper. I had no clue what she said so I shrugged it off and went in the store. As I'm shopping I see this same lady staring at me following us. We went next door to the dollar store and again she's following me watching me. After ten minutes she came up to me and says "where did you get that towel? " I say, excuse me? Then she proceeded to loudly say that I must of stolen the towel from the economy lodge because it's a white towel and she saw me near the hotel a little while ago so I must of taken the towel. I was absolutely stunned and highly insulted and outraged by her unprofessional and reckless actions and accusations. I began to explain to her we were going to swim and my daughter fell asleep. The woman began yelling and screaming and I was getting furious at this whole ridiculous situation. So I marches right over to the motel and asked for the manager. I let him know that a member of his staff had followed me and began falsely accusing me of theft and harassing me in front of the entire store. If they want to watch their so security cameras they can see I got the towel from my bag under my stroller. The manager did not show any signs of regret or even offer an apology! He only said "oh whoops, we've had some issues with first stealing from us so that's why she's thinking that may or happened. " I said its extremely far fetched to see someone who's not a guest walk past the building and never enter the building ...to somehow jump to the conclusion that if they have a white towel it must be stolen? Completely ridiculous! The manager could care less and offered no apologies as I still paid for us to swim in the pool anyway. This year as reluctant as I was I took my girls to swim again and met with nothing but hostility towards us. We received dirty looks, snotty remarks and and we're make to feel uncomfortable and unwanted. I called ahead on a rainy day to make sure if they 2open, the pools open so we don't walk in the rain for an hour for no reason. I was told they were open so we walked all the way in the rain. Upon arrival the person looked at me and very rudely said "no, you can't swim, pools closed today from rain. " my girls were heart broken and I was also heart broken and mad. It would be nice to treat people with respect and civility after all it's the hospitality industry in which I have a decade of experience. So I do not recommend going...
Read moreI hate writting reviews like this. I really do but hope if prevents others from experiencing what I went though. ||To sum up my stay in one word. I woudl use FILTHY! The worst motel experience I have ever had in my life! I was in room 122. I had an advance reservation and never have been to this area before. I arrived late and tired. ||I should have know something was wrong from the begining when I pulled in and what appears to be the owers were all sitting next to the office watching every move I made. Kind of creepy. Like they didn't trust me or anyone. |Walking into the office, there was a ripped piece of paper on the door glass window saying to "please ring bell if teh door is locked". Upon entering the lobby I saw Christmas lights still hanging in the windows. This was now July! I had a reservation for a Queen size bedroom. ||Upon opening the room door, I was overcome with cigarette smells.||The outside entrance door was obviously broken-in in the past because there was visible marks of screwdrivers, trying to pry the door open.||There was a number of wired people around the property. Lots of garbage left outside of rooms. Beach chairs, lawn chairs, and wheelchairs all left on the sidewalk. It appears that this place does long-term section 8 leases. Just an assumption but there were definately some characters about! ||The bathroom was absolutely filthy! Mold growing in the shower. Visible dirt and mold on the walls. The sink was absolutely disgusting. The exhaust fan was clogged with lint and dirt.||The TV did not work and when I went to the front desk, I was told to use the manual buttons on the TV to turn it on and off!||The worst thing is, I didn’t realize till the next morning that the smoke detector was missing from the room! This is a violation of local fire codes. At the very least the local fire marshal needs to fine them.||I went to check out at 8 AM and no one was in the lobby! No one behind the front desk. No one visible anywhere on the property. No complementary coffee even. I left without having the ability to express my frustrations to the management. I chose to call Choice Hotels customer satisifaction direclty and expressed my feelings direclty.||If it wasn’t for the fact that it was so late at night, and I was dead tired, I would’ve left, but I didn’t know where else to go in the area.||If I could rate this place is zero, I would. How Choice hotels/Econo Lodge could allow this place to represent them is incomprehensible to me me. It does nothing but put a bad image on there brands. This place needs to be condemned by the Brattleboro Health and Fire departments.||#choicehotels...
