We didn't have a great experience at Giant Steps this last weekend. We bought the kids an ALL DAY activity pass for the fun things they have in the Summer. It was over $200, which is a little steep. Unfortunately, it started raining and so our day was cut short. We went to get something to eat at the restaurant. Last Summer, they had really nice kid's meals for like $6. They don't have those anymore. The gal said too many adults were buying them for themselves. I was in line with four hungry kids. I was obviously trying to feed my family, not game the system. I had to buy a couple orders of chicken tenders for $10 each. There were four small tenders in each basket. No fries and no drink. It was disappointing for a family. We went back to our condo across the street to wait out the storm, and my kids were watching to see if they would open up everything when the rain stopped. It stopped at 5:00. The pass is supposed to be good till 6:00. They didn't open. I get it. The only activity they didn't get to do and really wanted to experience was to take a scenic lift ride up the mountain. I went there the next day to see if maybe, just maybe they would allow our little family to take a ride up. My wife and I were willing to buy a $15 ticket each, but I was hoping that the kids could go as part of their pass. Nope! No sir! Not happening! It was pretty early. The lift was open and hardly anyone was riding up the mountain. All those vacant seats heading up the mountain that my family could have enjoyed. I've been in business for 22 years. Customer service is everything! No one can control the weather. That was just unfortunate, but if you wanted to make a customer's day, a small gesture goes a long way. Unused seats on the lift, a loss of $30 in revenue and an unhappy guest who had already spent $275 at your resort. To add more salt, the girl was downright rude to me. They keep saying that Brian Head is just now being discovered. Well, it looks like they're preparing themselves and their pricing for that big time ski resort feel including a kick to the wallet and poor...
Read moreWe just drove to Brian Head to take kids snow tubing. We got to the Brian Head Resort building and I was able to purchase tickets there ($25/person for an hour and a half session, no sharing tubes, so you have to buy tickets for every person in your group). I was told the tubing slop at Brian Head Resort was closed for the day and we needed to drive to Giant Steps Ski Resort (just down the road) by Navajo Lodge. I'm glad because there was no parking by Brian Head lodge, we found plenty of parking right by the snow tubing by Navajo Lodge. We got there 30 minutes before our tubing session would start, so we took the kids inside the Navajo Lodge to use the restrooms and eat some food. The place is pretty busy, but the table turn around is fast and we found an empty table just fine. Snow tubing is a lot of fun for adults and kids equally. After quick instructions on how to use the tube and which tube to pick, you get in line for a conveyor belt that takes you up. Our 5 year old had no problem stepping onto it and keeping his balance. Kids under 50 lbs, ride inside the tube on lane one.. adults ride on top of tube on your bellies. Our 5 year old flew so fast down the hill with his eyes wide open, I thought he would be too scared to go again, but the second he got out of his tube he yelled how much fun it was and he wants to go again😅 make sure to put sunscreen on and wear sunglasses. I'd bring a bottle of water with you too if you can fit it in your pocket. We got pretty thirsty by the end and regret not bringing water. An hour and a half is plenty of time. The employees were all friendly and helpful. Everything was done in orderly manner and everyone had a great time. We are looking forward to...
Read moreGreat place to ride and ski, but they’re happy to screw you. We went mountain biking and bought our passes several weeks ahead of time. They’re refund policy is only good within 48 hours after you buy your pass. Day of, the resorts gets shut down due to weather for over half the day. This is one of 6 resorts owned by Mountain Capital Partners and Brian Head alone brings in over $40M a year and they candle accommodate a half day refund for all of us spending $5+ a gallon of gas and everything that goes with it. I get that weather isn’t their fault either, but they make the rules on whether you can ride or not. You want to shut down the lift? Cool. But don’t prohibit those of us willing to find an alternate method of getting up the hill the ability to ride the runs we paid for. Or at least throw your patrons a bone and incentivize them to come back. Word of advice, don’t buy your tickets until the day before you come up and if there is ANY chance of rain in the forecast, skip it altogether. Go catch the shuttle at...
