Please CONSIDER A DIFFERENT CABIN RENTAL COMPANY. Read the reviews first before booking here because there are multiple people who have had very similar experiences with the property management team (Karen Wheeler is the individual who spoke with us via text). Based on the company’s responses to other one star reviews, you will likely not be responded to kindly. Pay close attention to the sentiment used in the company’s responses to dissatisfied customers too. I see very few apologies or accountability language for the company’s shortcomings. Which is a very good representation of how this company treats customers with negative feedback.
My family and I rented the Copper Spur cabin for 3 days (Friday- Monday). Friday and half of Saturday, the upstairs AC was not working, it was 78 degrees upstairs making basically half of the cabin unusable (Karen insisted the temp guns read 73.5 degrees…perhaps after assistance from maintenance). Our Dad and Grandma tried to sleep in the rooms upstairs but had to make other sleeping arrangements on the first night. We called maintenance around midnight on Friday (giving the unit plenty of time to cool down the upstairs area as we turned the upstairs AC on upon arrival around 4:30pm). Maintenance came out at noon on Saturday, couldn't fix the upstairs AC unit, and provided window units for the upstairs rooms. I will say, the maintenance team did a WONDERFUL job trying to resolve the issue. Because of their efforts, the upstairs area did eventually cool down to a comfortable temperature for the remaining portion of our stay. But still, renting a cabin for over $2,700 with a broken AC unit is not a fair deal.
After this, we decided a partial refund should be issued given the circumstances. We spoke with Karen Wheeler, the owner of Broken Bow Cabin Lodging, and were treated and spoken to very disrespectfully. Based on our communications with Karen, it seemed she had very little regard or remorse for the situation. An apology would have gone a long way. Any kindness or positivity from her would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, speaking with Karen soured our experience with Broken Bow Cabin Lodging even more. Despite our efforts to be patient and respectful throughout all of this, Karen did not reciprocate any of this. I even have a text message from her SHAMING US for the sleeping arrangements we had to make for our grandma. I am not obligated to provide anyone an explanation for the decisions that we made, and shaming someone for this was just AWFUL. Especially since those sleeping arrangement changes were necessary due to the pre-existing issues with the upstairs AC unit.
*It’s also worth mentioning that Karen told us she would contact an attorney for “attempted fraud” in response to our decision to share our conversation in a review online. Leveraging legal consequences in response to posting a negative review violates the Consumer Review Fairness act and Federal Trade Commission Guidelines which supports consumers rights to provide honest feedback without fear of legal consequences.
To be clear, this is a one star review because of Karen’s response to the negative feedback that she received. Had she apologized or had been nicer, this may have been a much different review. Once I post this review, I’d like to be done with Broken Bow Cabin Lodging forever. It’s taken too much time and...

Read moreREVIEW FROM SEPTEMBER 2017: My husband and I are return customers of BBCL. We just returned from a 7 day vacation. We rented one cabin from Labor Day (Monday) through Friday. The cabin was, again, immaculate!!! Everything was in pristine shape. This is the second year in a row that we rented this cabin. I don't want to mention the name of the cabin, because I'm afraid that once word gets out about how great it is (and how great the price is), we'll have trouble booking it in the future! The staff at BBCL was, as always, incredible!!! We weren't ready to leave on Friday, so we stopped by the BBCL office and spoke with Sarah, who gave us an incredible deal for another cabin for the weekend. It, too, was wonderful!!!! We think we actually like it more than our original cabin! One reason that we are return customers with BBCL is because I know by using their service, we'll have no worries. The pictures of the cabins are accurate. The amenities listed are accurate. If there's an issue, the staff is quick to try to resolve it. We'll be back in December with out entire family (second year in a row). We can't wait! Thanks, BBCL.
NEW REVIEW FROM DECEMBER 2016: My family and I rented the Family Time cabin for a week, checking in the day after Christmas. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This cabin was awesome! It was beautifully decorated, absolutely spotless, and exceeded our expectations. This cabin had everything we wanted and more! The attention to detail in every aspect of this cabin (even marshmallows for s'mores!) was incredible. I can't stress enough how clean everything was. The kitchen was FULLY equipped with every single item (all higher-end) that one could possibly need. Because my husband and I have received such excellent service over the years from the staff at Broken Bow Cabin Lodging, they were the company we chose to use for our family holiday vacation. You can't go wrong with this cabin, or with this company! Thank you, owners of Family Time, for sharing your wonderful cabin with us. Thank you, Broken Bow Cabin Lodging, for aiding in another wonderful vacation!
REVIEW FROM MAY 2016: Indian Time - Broken Bow Cabin Lodging
Everything was perfect. The cabin was IMMACULATE!!!!!!!!!!!! We couldn't believe how clean it was! I left Mischa (?) a note of sincere appreciation over the cleanliness of the cabin. The kitchen was well equipped, the refrigerator squeaky clean, and there was even ice in the ice trays! Although we purchased a case of bottled water, we found that the tap water was delicious!
Everything smelled clean, even the porches were nicely swept. Although we had a two-bedroom cabin, we only used the one bed in the room with the television. Even the comforter was clean! The first time we stayed in Broken Bow, about 5 years ago, the comforter on the bed was dirty and soiled looking in places. The floors were dusty, but not so at Indian Time. We couldn't have asked for cleaner or more comfortable accommodations. The AC worked well, the hot tub heated nicely.
I only wished that the yard had been mowed, but given the amount of rain Broken Bow had been receiving (and noticing all of the other cabins having weed issues), we assumed it had been too wet to have...
