Friend of mine was coming in from New Mexico. I was looking for a place close to my house, but was not going to break the bank. The normal hotel chain I stay at wanted $40 more a night. I had stayed at Best Western before while traveling and had a good experience, so I booked two nights here.
The staff was amazing, friendly and professional. The check in was easy and smooth. The hotel overall was in great shape and very clean. I opted for a king room. The room was comfortable and well appointed. The bathroom did not have a tub, only a walk in shower. The bed was firm and a tab bit on the hard side. I was impressed the pillows were standard sized and not the half sizes that I have seen hotels start using. The pillows were comfortable once you stacked them. This place has a heated indoor pool which was a nice touch. They did have a gym which consisted of a treadmill, elliptical machine, one bench and some dumbbells. If you wanted to grab a quick workout, it works. If you want something more, I would suggest using your own membership and going to a local gym.
This place did have breakfast. It was your normal fare of eggs, sausage links, cereal, fruit, muffins, diced potatoes and Texas shaped waffles. The first night it was not bad. The second night, this place got full during breakfast time. I was impressed they did not wrap up the breakfast early, like some hotels do. The older gentleman who was working the breakfast area was doing a fantastic job keeping breakfast items stocked.
I would have liked it if they would have not put hotel guests right next to each other, as the walls were paper thin. The bed's headboard was attached the wall. If you rolled over in bed, you could hear it knocking against the wall. I felt really bad when my neighbor had a "Do not disturb" sign on their door. There was daily housekeeping, which was nice. We did not really need it. We only asked for fresh towels. There was a sign that said housekeeping was unavailable on Sundays. You also could hear hotel patrons going up and down the hallway after 11pm, which made it hard to relax.
Overall, this place was a comfortable stay. I did notice it was a "franchise owned" hotel owned by the Patel family as I was checking out. I did appreciate that it seemed like they were running the hotel behind the scenes. I have stayed in some Patel family hotels where the family ran it and it was less than stellar service. This hotel was fantastic. This Patel was definitely "doing the needful". If you are looking for a comfortable stay and not looking to break the bank, I would definitely book this place. You are close to the Starbucks with easy access to the HEB and...
Read moreTERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! GENERAL MANAGER does not care about the guests especially if they are experiencing an issue in the Hotel. Between a HUGE SPIDER in our room, wrappers on the floor and woken up at 12:45p because hotel had some work being done then the next day they tried to say it was coming from an outside company to deflect blame but their own night person at desk when i called found their workers and it stopped. When asked to speak to the GM I was told he would call me back (never did) then after 4 hours I went back up to the front desk and was told that he knew I had a complaint and I asked for a call back but had been too busy to attempt to contact me then I asked to speak to him again while I was standing there but was told again he's too busy???!!! What, too busy for a paying guest in your hotel that your being paid to run??? This is a service industry that should care, right? Not at this place. Here is me caring to humanity - TO ALL who read and wish to heed my warning, my friends, family, co- workers etc... PLEASE save yourself a potential nightmare, just skip this place and choose another Hotel so then, maybe (not feeling comfortable since today July 12th 2019 still no one has contacted me, the GM "Hiren Patel" nor any of his bosses @ "Buda Austin Hospitality LLC). If they ever realize this and either have him take some basic training on customer service or choice of another person who has that basic experience. I do hope they will finally see what a Poor General Manager they put in their establishment and either do corrective action so he understands why he is there or demote him and put someone that cares in that position. To the General Manager "Hiren Patel", SHAME on YOU for hiding behind your front desk employees and having them make excuses for you cuz your not facing me nor the issues. I DONT feel sorry for someone that doesn't care about his position or what makes a service industry successful. You really sunk low and should be ashamed. ALL if this could if been avoided if you would of just been a man, a person that cares and just called or discussed with...
Read moreOkay, I have to give it up for the staff here, they were awesome. Very quiet, super clean and breakfast was on par for a Best Western Plus. Now I don't normally have any business down in Buda and I wouldn't have thought to even look at this location except for one tiny little thing. I was hunting for hotels in the Austin area using Priceline and I hit the sort button to arrange the listing from cheapest to most expensive like I do every time. The very first one at the top of the list was this location and it was for $29 bucks. I don't think I have ever booked a hotel that quickly before in my life. Now before you go blasting me for taking advantage of a mistake made by the hotel or by Priceline, look at yourself in the mirror and tell me that you wouldn't do the same damn thing. I drove down to the hotel preparing for the battle that would surely follow when I tried to check-in. I handed over my license and my credit card and it was immediately declined which I knew it would be because I had just enough to cover that $29 for the room. I explained that I booked the room for that amount. Without one lick of confrontation, the very nice front desk lady picked up the phone and called her manager. After a short visit with him, she focused her attention back to me and started doing the normal check-in thing, explaining breakfast hours, gym etc. She then handed me my keys and thanked me for my business and wished me a great night. Holy crap! Yes that really happened and I tell you what I was lucky because the place is nice enough to pay full price if you ask me. Thanks again for not being your typical douchebag hotel with lackluster staff! I will be back soon... whenever I find another special...
