I live in the local area. We had big plumbing issues in our home yesterday that left us (a family of 6) unable to use our plumbing for over 24 hrs. We needed to rent a room for the night mostly to just to use the bathroom/shower, so I found myself here.
I am of course familiar with the area and expected a cheap room (it IS one of the cheapest in Canon City) as the motel is older, right off the highway, with transients around. I thought it may be cheaper just walking in and asking for a room vs. renting on a 3rd party site. It was not. It was the same price; almost $100 for a simple 2 full sized beds. This location boasts one of the ONLY pools in the area, so I thought that was definitely a plus. It was a hot summer day- the pool was closed (for unknown reasons), but the hot tub was open? The rooms are old and smell like what you would expect an old house/building to smell like. It was not the nicest, nor the cleanest. I am 5'9" and I looked straight even with the shower head. I had to duck my head to wash my hair.
We only sat/laid on the bed for about an hour (tops), but it was not great. There were 2 pillows on each bed, and neither were thick. I put 2 of them behind my head to try to prop myself up to watch TV while waiting for kids to shower, and it was not enough to do that. The TV is fairly small for the room and when turning channels it lagged majorly.
I found myself there around 10:30pm last night. I pulled up and the whole feel was sketchy. There were a handful of people outside of their rooms, walking through the parking lot, people lurking in the darkness of the open doors, etc. While in the bathroom, it sounded like someone was using a shovel to dig outside of the window (which would have been in the pet area.) Still not sure what that was. I definitely looked out the window before I opened the door to leave last night. I debated letting my 18 yr old daughter and her boyfriend stay there, but honestly, I would not have felt safe with either of them sleeping there. Even the signs on the back of the door say something like "For your safety, lock the dead bolt and security latch while in your room."
Despite its age and problems, it DOES have really good water pressure. Also, the air conditioner works...
Read moreI only stayed here about 5 hours. The service was horrible. We had a family emergency and was driving from Texas to Washington state. At 3 in the morning i called the reservations desk and made a reservation for an after midnight check in. There was not a room available in the town we were by so we had to drive another hour to get to this motel. Upon arriving we found the lobby dark and locked with a typed note on the door saying to call another number. I called this number three time and could hear the phone in the lobby ringing through the windows. I then called back to the national reservations desk. They called twice and could not get an answer either. While we were canceling my reservation a woman showed up in her night gown and slippers asking us to wait a minute. Approximately 4 minutes later another woman arrived, walked by us not saying anything to my family. She unlocked the door to the lobby, turned on the light and went behind the desk. I walked in with my son-in-law so we could get our rooms. After paying for my room, receiving my key and being dismissed by this desk clerk i had to go back and ask for my receipt. She seemed reluctant to give it to me and I had to ask for her name three times. By the way, she tried to push me off with the name Jason but finally gave her name, Caroline. When we got to our room the key would not work. A man who did not identify himself but had in a Motel 6 shirt arrived and said he saw our key was not so he tried. The key still did not work so he changed our room. While walking to the new room he tries to take my suitcase out of my hand with out saying anything to me and starts calling me momma. He did apologize for the inconvenience of the key not working. Caroline never even greeted us or made any attempt at an apology. While the room was clean, the toilet did not flush properly. I will be calling corporate...
Read moreVery small room, no hair dryer or plug in in bathroom. We stayed 4 nights and on night 2 we came back to the room and one towel was missing and a $100 scratch off had been stolen, the new cleaning girl had been in our room even after she was told not to. Very loud neighbors. But we will never stay there again because we had to put things in the door to see if someone had been in our room while we were gone, after having $100 stolen . Then the owner or manager calls and is extremely rude stating they didn’t steal anything but when no one other than the cleaning staff has a key to your room and only 1 towel and $100 scratch off ticket disappear then there is only 1 person that could have stolen our things. And as we are driving and the manager is calling and blowing up our phone because of a bad review. I would advise no one to stay at this motel, very poor service, theft and harassment from the management! Our room door was wide open, head housekeeper said she didn’t go in but the new housekeeper had those rooms, head housekeeper even stated door was hard to close and we always slammed door and made sure it was secure. Manager asked us if we wanted the new housekeeper fired for the theft, also stated she’d had several jobs in an around area and not able to keep jobs. Recommend staying elsewhere and I will be contacting the Motel 6 corporate office to report harassment and theft. After we called to to let motel know we’d be arriving a day later and motel blew our phone up starting at midnight after we’d already called...
