I hate to leave this review because I feel like the staff was really trying, but there were some things I couldnt overlook.
There were a few errors on our order. The waitress brought me cheese and onion enchiladas instead of beef enchiladas that I ordered, and while they were replaced, the waitress was initially hesistant to replace them. Also, my wife said she got the wrong taco, though she didn't say anything.
The Chile relleno I got was awesome until I got to the center. The center was ice cold. I didn't say anything as id already complained about the enchiladas.
For the fried ice cream, I was given a plastic spoon instead of a metal spoon, and when I asked for a metal one because the ice cream was rock hard, I was told they were out of clean spoons. More on this later.
They were talking about how busy and slammed they were but ive worked in restaurants and only about maybe a third of the tables were occupied if that. I thought maybe we had gotten in at the end of a rush, but the stress on their end seemed to continue into our meal.
The big one. A plastic piece of what i later found out was seran wrap made it into my fried ice cream. When I informed the waitress, she seemed nonchalant about it, at least until later. Not a big deal to me, but if that'd gone to a child or elderly couple, talk about a major choking hazard.
At the very end, practically the entire staff stopped me on my way out the door and profusely apologized for the seran wrap. I was given a free fried ice cream to go even though I hadn't asked which is why I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 Side note, there was residual grease on the ice cream and a hint of odor that told me the Fryer grease hadn't been changed in days. I ended up throwing it out. I was also told there were only 8 spoons in the whole restaurant and they'd been asking the owner to order some for awhile.
Bottom line: I can tell the staff is really trying and that most are good peopl3, but I also sense that there is a lot of disorganization and chaos behind the scenes. They are good workers without direction. It seems like the staff is being set up to fail. The whole place seems like a rudderless ship. I'm not sure if its from bad management or a cheap owner, (or both), but its going to bite this place at some point if something doesnt change quick. I'm not from the area and I definitely won't ever be back, but for the sake of the good workers on the staff, I...
Read moreWe have eaten here twice in the past week. The first time we dined in, mamma had the chili releno and enchilada platter with calabacita and refried beans, and I had the carnitas enchiladas a la crema. our food was tasty and our waitress was attentive, the only complaint we had was that they put mamma's sides on my plate and my sides on her plate, no big deal cuz we generally pick off each other's plates anyway, but something that either the kitchen staff or waitress should have caught and corrected. Tonight we ordered the same meals to go, and I picked them up on my way home. The waitress at the window checked both containers against the receipt and placed the order in the bag and I was on my way. I figured she checked the orders, so everything was good. My mistake. Mamma opened her container and she was missing her Calabacita. Something fairly obvious that the waitress should have noticed. Mamma immediately contacted the restaurant. They were very apologetic and said we could come back and pick it up. Mamma said no, she'd go without, so I sat down with my meal. My enchiladas were dry. There was no sauce on them what do ever, la crema or otherwise. Just sour cream and tomatoes. This was very obvious and definitely something the kitchen staff and waitress should have noticed and corrected. There is no way possible she could not have seen the mistakes, and they would have taken less than 3 minutes to correct. Yet she ignored it, charged my card for the meal, accepted a $5.00 tip and merrily sent me on my way. Shame on her, and shame on me for trusting her and not insisting on checking the...
Read moreReally disappointed. Love this place, been coming here for years, also at at la mission in falcon (sister store to this location). My son wanted to come here for fajitas for his birthday, so we invited some family to come as well. We arrived at 645 (only about an hour before they close) and the place was pretty empty. Our server sat us at a very small table and we asked to move to one in the corner with more space (there were 2 vacant larger tables) and we explained that we all planned to order fajitas, so the bigger table would be appreciated. We were denied that request twice, at which point our server decided to drop our table on a different server who was obviously a new hire, who didn't know what she was doing. When the waiter arrived with our food wondering where to put all the plates, we reminded her that this is why we asked to move to a larger table.. long story short, both of the bigger tables sat completely empty for the entire time we were there. With a tab well over $100 between drinks and food for the 4 of us, I feel that the management staff was very confrontational and chose to give sub par service to a group of long time customers hoping that "maybe" they would get a bigger table. Again those 2 larger tables were never sat, and we were there until 15 mins before closing. There's a lot of Mexican food options in this town, and unfortunately I will choose those other options, rather than old mission because of their lack of service. Do better guys, Canon city is becoming very competitive for business so step up to the challenge or go out of business as so many...
