Throughout Our Lives we have traveled probably hundreds of times in state for stay cations or amusement park trips, vacations out of state and 12 trips out of the country and this was our first ever Marriott property. We went with our son in terms of celebrating things that he's accomplished. Right off the bat the location is bad. When you get off the freeway you can easily miss the turn, but more so when going back out to the main road it's impossible to make a left turn due to the amount of traffic and semi trucks trying to turn into the truck stop across the street so you have no choice but to make a right turn go up and then turn around. The staff really wasn't friendly all around. We booked two rooms but were not put side by side. The doors to the room are so heavy and very hard to open, a family member that had to cancel at the last minute if she would have came she would not have been able to open the door herself from either side. The rooms are small, the bed is hard and uncomfortable. The bathroom on different spots of the wall had yellow staining. The heated pool, my guess is the heat wasn't working is our experience with indoor pools at hotels that are heated are still on the colder side but at least tolerable. There was no tolerating this pool with the level of cold that it was. There were four authorizations put on our card for incidentals which I understand a lot of hotels do, but I've also have never had where it took more than 2 weeks for those authorization holds to come off of our card. The breakfast buffet had no lower carb options such as eggs. Only roast available for coffee was dark. The buffet area and Lobby were a madhouse with uncontrolled children. One lady had one of the Ottomans which was on wheels and was rolling on it all over the lobby and dining area at times rolling her kid around and other times just herself. There were a couple children that were climbing all over the booths and standing on the dividing partitions in between and jumping down off of them and nothing said by staff members. There was no relaxation at breakfast whatsoever. But speaking of relaxation, our room was directly next to the kitchen and at about 5:55 a.m. the noise level of banging and everything that was constant from the kitchen woke us up and kept us up and we were not able to get back to sleep. It was constant banging, pots and pans or other things being set down which sounded like they were being thrown around. Our family was only there one night and these are just some of the issues, but this was our first ever as well as last stay at a...
Read moreMy husband and I were on a 20 hour round trip returning our son to his college in Ohio from New York. We decided to drive a bit back east after dropping him off. I found this hotel on the BonVoy app and fortunately they had a room for us! Our check in was smooth and easy, our room , including the bathroom, was immaculately clean and what a relief for tired travelers! Breakfast in the morning was better than anticipated. All the items that you could need or want were available and perfectly prepared and served.. AND Millie, the “one man” breakfast gal had set out infused blackberry and lemon water! What a refreshing and delicious treat! Upon checkout, I absent mindedly forgot to leave a tip for the housekeeping staff! I was mortified. I went back to the BonVoy app and sent a text message to the hotel, hoping to add the gratuity to my bill. To my surprise, the AGM, Sarah offered to leave a tip and graciously said she would tell the housekeeper it was from us! I tried to venmo or find a way around this, but in the end I agreed. Coming off of college visits, a little summer travel and a few trips back and forth to campus, suffice to say we have spent many nights in hotels recently.. This Fairfield Inn was the best experience of them all. Unfortunately, that includes a very disappointing stay at a Hilton Garden Inn where we found yellow stains and hair on our bedding, dirt and dust in our nightstands, a spilled, sticky mess on the table, a ring of filth in the toilet bowl and an out of service pool, atm and elevator! I so appreciate this hotel and its staff! With every business searching for people to work, this hotel is doing something right! We will...
Read moreAfter driving wayyy farther than we planned that night (appx 1000 miles!) we finally found this beautiful oasis in an otherwise overbooked hospitality desert. It was a dark and stormy night, and it seemed everyone wanted off that highway. So, as my husband sheepishly made his way inside, hoping this hotel might actually have availability, he was greeted by the warm and inviting smile of Kim, assuring him that not only were we welcome to stay, but she would also arrange for a late check-out to let us rest. We made our way to our (very affordable!) room, both of us so exhausted, and my poor husband just collapsed into the huge and incredibly comfortable bed, and he was probably asleep the second his head hit the pillow. I needed to unwind a bit, after driving through hundreds of miles of crazy storms... So I took a nice hot shower and fixed myself the cup of tea that I had grabbed at the coffee station on our way to the elevator. The shower was fantastic. Lovely walk-in shower with a gorgeous glass door. It seemed like every detail was noted... huge towels, great water pressure, and fantastic little Paul Mitchell toiletries. And we slept SO WELL too! We actually slept right through breakfast, but it smelled heavenly :) Much love and gratitude to Kim for taking in two very weary travelers and making us feel welcome and wanted. We hope to see you during...
