Management in this restaurant could care less about customer satisfaction! Let me start by saying Ruby Tuesday used to be my absolute favorite restaurant and I used to eat there at least twice a month if not more, but it's just terrible anymore. Myself and 3 family members arrived there this afternoon about 3:30 and there were only 2 other guests in the store so they weren't busy. Our server was pleasant and attentive but the food was awful! It seems every time I go in there anymore they overcook my steak. Today I ordered the ribeye-medium and mashed pot with cheese. One of my family members ordered the sirloin also medium. Both steaks were beyond well done when they finally arrived. Obviously we sent them both back and waited for probably 20 minutes for the replacements. When they came back their sirloin was edible but the ribeye was still well done. They took it back a second time and returned it to me again WELL DONE but this time they put sour cream on my potatoes, which I'm allergic to, and the steak aside from being over cooked was also dry as a bone. I explained to the waitress that 1 of the things I enjoy about my steak is the juices that flow off of it when you cut into it but this had none. They took it back again obviously to replace the potatoes and when I finally received my meal having returned it 3 times, the steak was still overcooked. It appeared as though the inside of the steak was less cooked than the outside but there was no pink to the meat. I questioned the manager who delivered the plate to my table as to why there was no pink in the meat. A steak done medium should be pink in the center. I asked her if there were something wrong with the meat and she simply stated that sometimes the steakes don't pink up when they're cooked?!?! What?? I have never ordered a good steak from a good restaurant, done medium, that wasn't pink in the center. After all of this back-and-forth, waiting over an hour and 20 minutes to finally get my 3rd overcooked steak, I obviously didn't eat it. My check was brought to me and the meal that I couldn't eat wasn't even comped....until they saw that the 3rd attempt I still didn't eat. At that point that waitress took my check back and said that since I didn't eat it I wouldn't be charged for it. I can't imagine charging a customer who waited almost an hour and a half for a meal that had to be sent back 3 times regard less of whether it finally came out correct or not, but I guess that's not how Ruby Tuesday operates. I would not recommend this particular restaurant to anyone.
Oh and one last tid bit. Clearly as long as I have patronized this restaurant I am familiar with their practice's. The reason we went there today in the 1st place is because it was my 7 year old granddaughter's birthday. I made it a point to tell our waitress discreetly that it was her birthday and she asked what kind of Sunday she would want. When I was finally served my meal after the 1st few bites, the waitress asked if I was ready and I said yes... 5 minutes later she brings the sunday, sets it down in front of my granddaughter and says Happy Birthday and walks away! What happened to singing Happy Birthday???? I've celebrated probably 20 birthdays in this restaurant and every single time they sang Happy Birthday so I guess my granddaughter just wasn't...
Read moreWe went on a buy one entree get one free ad that was sent to us by email. My husband has a distinct limp from a stroke, hostess asked table or booth we said table, she seated us at the farthest table from the front. The table was next to the booths along the windows. Before we started walking I asked if we could sit at the empty tables right around the corner from the hostess station. Hostess ignored me kept on walking to the far tables. Our waiter was pleasant enough, asked all the Ruby Tuesday questions, but he never smiled or engaged, very cold. Just doing my job. He did bring fresh drinks with out asking and he did get our order right. We decided on our entrees, we let the waiter know we had the coupon code, he tore off a piece of paper and asked me to write it down, then he left. Then he came back for our order. We got the salad bar with our meals, since it was a long walk for my husband, I went to the salad bar for him and me. Balancing two plates... ugh! We ate our salads and waited and waited and waited. 30 min later, 30 min from when we ordered! So now we're at least 45 min into our visit... No waiter in sight when we did see him he walked so fast past us that I would have had to get loud to get his attention. I did notice the hostess was setting up tables close to our table and when I caught her eye, I asked what was taking so long, again no response and walked away. Wow! It had been so long I had even gotten to the point where I wasn't hungry any more. We finally get our entrees, my husband's order rib dinner and fries... perfect. I ordered the New Orleans tilapia and shrimp with mashed potatoes. OMG! IT LOOKED LIKE A KIDS MEAL. I ate the potatoes in 4 bites. There was so much sauce on the fish. My food had been sitting so long under a heat light I'm guessing, that the sauce was glazed over and shiny...the food was hot but the shrimp was rubbery and the tilapia was sitting in so much "juice" it was mushy. I would have complained except I didn't want wait another 30 min for more food. We were there an hour. This was on a Thursday evening around 7.30pm, the restaurant wasn't even half full. In fact it was sparse with customers. What's up with no bread or rolls?
This is really too bad. I used to enjoy going there but honestly the last few times have been less than expected. For the prices you charge for meals and drinks... this really sucks! We did tip the waiter the appropriate amount, I didn't want to be "that guy!" So in conclusion (lol) we will not be visiting this or any Ruby Tuesdays any time soon. Your commercials are cute and catchy. I do enjoy them... they're fun to imitate. There is a plethora of restaurants in Cambridge. Half the price, twice the service. And usually served a meal within 30 min or less... Maybe your staff needs "fake nice" and how to be attentive to your customers, training, not so much about your personal problems at the hostess station. I worked for years at TWCable, on the phones, a little "fake nice" goes along way. Sayonara, ciao, see...
Read moreRuby Tuesday has officially fallen off far more than I could have imagined. Already doubting it'd be a good stop for dinner. A friend convinced me it was still a good night out.
Even she immediately apologized once we had been seated, noticing immediately what differences had come to pass since restaurants began taking advantage of people during inflationary periods.
Don't get me wrong, I understand economics and the need to price demand. But shrinkflation under any circumstances, especially when simultaneously the price goes us and the product gets smaller, I lose my entire patience for anyone's excuse.
This Ruby Tuesday had semi drunk waitresses on a quiet, barely filled evening. The food we ordered already overpriced, came out a fragment of the size expected for what you're paying. After essentially paying $40 for what turned out to be a small double cheeseburger and fries and my friends being a Philadelphia style steak sandwich served on a hot dog bun with another small fry. Both meals burnt, and before we could at least ask any questions of our waitress, she'd left for the evening and our new one simply offered an apology and nothing more.
Highly dissatisfied and would never recommend to anyone. Let this ship sink to the bottom and hopefully a well produced local eatery will rise in its place.
My final thoughts before leaving were noticing their well displayed salad bar, and also a price nearly $20 that leaves you wondering why there's no sneeze guards or measures taken to prevent a huge mess as each bowl had no surrounding places to catch loose food.
Disgusting and hopefully on its way out. Truly deserving businesses would kill to have the architecture inside. The look of an old cigar bar with leather and open floor plan even with the divider and lighting.
Time...
