Posting the same review I wrote for YELP||If you have kids this is probably one of the only places in downtown Carmel by the Sea to stay so there's that. My family and I stayed here for a few nights back in April and had some issues that we reported to the staff and emailed the manager about and basically got zero help from them so I decided to finally post a review here.||Upon check in we found leftover items in the fridge which showed that housekeeping doesn't actually clean much. There was not weather strip on the bottom of the entry door which not only allowed heaps of dirt to enter the tile floor and turn our feet black, but also allowed for us to hear the very loud leaf blowing that took place early the next morning. It sounded like the leaf blower was happening inside our room which woke up my 4 year old and 3 month old baby. ||Let's see what else...there was a huge loogie that was sitting in the drain of the bathroom sink, soap scum on the corners of the shower and light bulbs burned out. When we were checking out we were hoping to talk to the front desk about our issues but no one was at the desk so we called afterwards and explained our situation. They told us to email the manager which we did, we were asking for a partial refund mainly for the lack of cleaning but the manager never responded so maybe they wills see this! For nearly $600 spent, I don't think it's outrageous to expect a room to be cleaned. Save your money stay somewhere else! Customer service is lacking, cleaning was abhorrent and clearly management doesn't care about guests and just wants $$. If you have kids, spend your hard earned money elsewhere and just deal with the traffic to get into town. This place is NOT IT and they DON'T CARE about...
Read moreFirst off, let me say that I wouldn’t even give this place one star. Ended up at Carmel Inn and Suites because the first place we were at in Carmel we only had for three days. The room we stayed in was king with deluxe couch and the decor was supposed to be Victorian which we got alright. It didn’t look like it had been cleaned in years along with the cloth headboard and decorative bed pillows. The bathroom was modernized and big but the room was downright awful and very uncomfortable. The bed extremely uncomfortable and felt really old. The alarm clock next to bed was modern but not on. I checked the outlet next to bed and turns out that didn’t even work. I plugged in alarm clock to other side of room. The coffee/fridge/sink area was unfinished and had no cabinetry. We could see the PVC pipes below the sink. My husband had a hard time with the TV and the remote and the remote not syncing with TV. When we arrived there was a towel on the starts for an entire night until next day. If you only eat bagels and English muffins for breakfast you’d love their complementary bc that’s all they had when you pay almost $300 a night. To top it all off... our last evening there ( thank god) one of their exterior outlets right next to bottom of main stairs outside was popping and started smoking profusely. We let a male employee know right way outside. He unplugged a water fountain thing and that was that. I was honestly afraid to stay there that night. I could not wait to leave. This place will never have our business again when we come to visit Carmel. The place next door is 1000% better and reasonably priced.

Read moreCarmel Inn and Suites is a rip off – don’t waste your money there. We went to sleep around 10pm, but the people on the second floor in the room above us were walking around nonstop, and the ceiling in our unit was squeaking loudly. After about 30 minutes of constant walking back and forth, I called the office to complain. Finally around 11pm the footsteps stopped. Around 6am I heard the shower running in the unit upstairs and a loud dripping sound in our bathroom. Our sink was overflowing with white soapy water and it was running all over the floor. I quickly called the office and the woman who answered said they would have someone come by to look at it later. The footsteps upstairs continued again until around 7am when I heard their door slam. Later that morning we went to the front office and complained to the young woman working there. She apologized and said she would tell the manager and he would decide what adjustments to make to our bill. A week later I looked at my credit card bill to see if anything had been done, but there was no adjustment so I called them. The same young woman answered and apologized that the manager hadn't gotten back to me since he is very busy. She remembered us and even which room we stayed in. She said they still have my contact info on file and she assured me the manager would call me by the end of the day, but he never did. If this was a cheap hotel I wouldn't care, but I paid $275 for one night. I’m done nagging them, so I’m just going to post this and hope others don’t make the same mistake staying...
