I visited Chagrin to practice waterfall photography. The Inn of Chagrin is close to many nice waterfalls including Chagrin Falls, Henry Church Rock waterfall, and Quarry Trails waterfall. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the Inn of Chagrin. All of the employees working in the lobby were always very friendly. This was a good first impression until I walked up the steps and down the hall to my room and noticed rug in hall stained in many places. I entered my room which was recently redecorated and remodeled. I noticed a ladder in the corner - some use a step ladder and place decor on the steps of the ladder - some use the rings of a ladder for a throw or blanket - however, the Inn of Chagrin just placed an old ladder in the corner behind a chair. The t.v. in the other corner had electrical cords which were visible and hanging down to outlet near floor - outlet should have been placed behind t.v. and "eye-sore" cords hidden. (Consider this given the price of the room). I opened the closet - I discovered a large amount of dust on the baseboard and crumbled blanket on top shelf. The bathroom, surprisingly, was absolutely spotless. However, this was the first place that I have ever stayed that did not have bar soap or pump soap on the bathroom sink. (I have been traveling since I was three years old). The brand new shower did not have a shelf for my soap or shampoo. I dropped my earring on the floor in bedroom and could not find the back - I thought it was near edge of rug under bed - I then picked up side of rug and discovered more dust! Large scratches noted on air conditioner (or whatever the black metal device was near wall). There were pictures on each wall and a very narrow small mirror on one wall - I would have chosen to not purchase this decor and, instead, use the money to pay an electrician to place outlet behind t.v. cords and install shelf in shower. I e-mailed manager of Inn of Chagrin and she stated that I would get $390.00 back - I was satisfied and decided not to complain. Then, I received $300.00 credit on my credit card. I e-mailed the manager again and she stated that she agreed to $300.00. I then forwarded the e-mail that she sent me stating $390.00 would be refunded. She then refunded another $90.00. I, again, decided to not enter a negative review. Recently, I received a text asking me if I would vote for Inn of Chagrin as Inn of the year. I declined and decided to review on...
Read moreWe recently stayed at Chagrin Inn in Room 1, and unfortunately, the quality of the room has seen better days. Whoever was hired for the remodeling should never do tile or flooring work again.
First, the cleanliness was unacceptable. Under the bed, we found what seemed like five years’ worth of dust. After accidentally dropping my wallet under there, I half expected to find dinosaur bones. The floor is in dire need of replacement, and the bed appears to have been reinforced with a makeshift metal bracket and screws—some of which weren’t even fully secured, posing a potential injury risk. The mattress was decent, but that’s about the only positive.
The bathroom was another disappointment. The tile work was poorly done, and the cleanliness was subpar. The towels were worn out, and the grout around the tiles desperately needs replacing. The sofa had yellow stains, making me wonder if a cat had been left loose in the room.
As for breakfast, calling it that is a stretch. It was stale, and the tea pot was broken. At $325 per night, this stay was nowhere near worth the price—more like a $65 budget motel experience. The location is nice, but I fail to understand the hype behind the glowing 5-star reviews. We won’t be staying here again unless they do a serious update, invest in better quality furnishings, and improve their overall...
Read moreLovely town that we come to at least once a year. Have not stayed in town since the old Gamekeepers Tavern closed.
We were a bit disappointed in the Inn. Booked a king room with a fireplace and when we got back for the night (20 degrees outside) the fireplace did not work. Person at the front desk told us they would contact the owner and we would get a text if the fireplace could be looked at. Never heard from anyone. The room was nice but in need of basic upgrades. The bathroom vanity looked to be from Lowe’s and had water damage under it and was beat up. For almost $400, I expect things to function in the room and look like a high end inn.
Went down for coffee and they had run out. Waited ten minutes and a new carafe came out. During breakfast, it ran out again and had to wait again.
The poor lady at the front desk was also in charge of making coffee and stocking the breakfast area. One person can’t do this on a busy weekend.
Bed was comfortable and the public areas were quaint. Bring a sound machine as you can hear anyone in the hallway or surrounding rooms.
We would probably not stay here again due to the price...
