We chose this hotel because my daughter had a shadow shift at UNC, where she was recently offered a position as a registered nurse. During the booking process, I requested a quiet room, as we had an early start the next day.||Upon arrival, we requested two additional blankets. We were told they would be right up. That didn't happen. An hour and a half later, I called down again and asked them to be sent up and they said they would be up in "two minutes" and again - never showed up. At this point, we went to the front desk - had to stand in line and for the THIRD time request these items. This time I told them I will pick them up on the way back from dinner since clearly this seems like a difficult request for them.||When we tried to rest upon arrival after our early flight (we had to wake up at 3:00 AM), we were repeatedly disturbed. A dog barked loudly for about 20 minutes, followed by housekeeping staff laughing and talking LOUDLY (like laughing at ten decibles) right outside our door for another extended period. This made it impossible to get any sleep.||Despite our request for a quiet room—and with the hotel appearing to be only about 25% full—we were placed next to a group of about eight guests. Around 2:00 AM, they returned, mistakenly banged on our door for a good five minutes before figuring out that their room was actually the next door over..... they then proceeded to party for a good hour. My daughter and I did not appreciate this. There was no reason you should situate a large party next to people who specifically asked for a quiet room. None.||The following morning, I visited the fitness center and found it dirty, with the air conditioning turned off. It was so uncomfortably hot I had to prop the door open for ventilation.|The final straw came when I turned on the bathroom light and saw two ROACHES run across the floor. In addition, we discovered several other bugs crawling around the room! I had to hunt them down and kill them which was a fun start to my morning. At that point, we canceled the second night of our stay.||When I went to the front desk to get the receipt for my prepaid stay - one would have thought the manager would have come over to apologize but nothing. The front desk girl didn’t offer an apology either and acted like she was doing me a favor. ||Given these experiences—from poor service and noise disturbances to cleanliness and pest issues—I absolutely do not...
Read moreUnfortunately, the night auditor, Miss Brooks, was not the best. As a Hyatt employee myself, we are supposed to take pride in upholding the brand’s standards and ensuring that guests are completely satisfied.
Regrettably, she kept stating that my card was declining. Between my mother and me, we provided her with THREE debit cards, as she claimed they were all declining, which was not the case. She deducted a nightly incidental charge from one of my accounts, another charge for an entire room/tax/nightly incidental from a different one of my accounts, and the same charges (room/taxes/nightly incidental) from my mother’s account.
It was very unfortunate because, as an employee, I understand that it will take time for those charges (over $300 that I will now not have access to for DAYS and during the remainder of my stay) to fall off and come back to my card, as they are authorizations.
But the pure inconvenience and the time it took, without her acknowledging the situation once, was frustrating.
It was evident that she was clearly bothered by the situation, but she did not handle it well.
When we returned to get sheets and pillows for the pullout beds, my aunt asked for complementary water. She rudely asked “Are you a world of Hyatt member” I was taking a bath because she could clearly see when she checked me in that I had a room under my employee rate… And the other one was under my world of Hyatt number… I actually don’t know what the purpose of that is because I told her to charge the waters to my room regardless if it was that big of a deal.
She was unhelpful and simply told me to retrieve them from the refrigerator. Her attitude and the fact that she seemed bothered by the situation were very apparent. As a Hyatt employee, I would NEVER want my guests to feel the way I felt yesterday. This is such a bad image for the brand!
The next morning, I spoke with Miss Felicia, who was very pleasant and extremely helpful. The rooms were exceptionally nice, and I would definitely return, solely because of the spacious rooms and cleanliness and of course Miss Felicia’s kindness.
However, I would do anything to avoid dealing with that night auditor again. I see why she’s there as a night auditor…Her customer service skills were...
