I was disappointed in my experience here, especially given the positive reviews. I came on a Sunday afternoon when it was somewhat busy, but there were many empty tables both inside and outside. It took an incredibly long time to get our food and quite a long time to get our bill— we waited possibly 25 minutes after finishing eating for someone to come so we could ask for the bill. They seem to operate on the model of any waiter helping any table, so each time someone came it was a different person. No one seemed to be our server.
Everything we needed had to be asked for, as it wasn’t brought. We had to ask for utensils, ask for small serving plates for the appetizer. They brought both the wrong number of plates and the wrong number of utensils. We had to ask to order, after sitting there forever.
The food was okay, but looked better than it tasted. The carne asada was dry and needed some kind of sauce, as did the salad that’s comes with it, which has no dressing? We tried three different tacos which all had a lot of ingredients, and looked beautiful, but tasted incredibly bland. The guacamole was good, as was the kids meals, though those are simpler things, I suppose. I am unsure if I would come back— maybe just for a drink and chips, but not an entree. Also, why is it called table made guacamole if they make it in the kitchen and bring it out? Isn’t that normally made at the table?
I like the decoration other than the Star Wars decals on the wall. I didn’t...

I work a few blocks away from Xolos and my entire office has been excitedly waiting to try them. We had a team lunch to plan for about 20 people so this was a great opportunity to try them out.
Chef Jose was great to work with and a clear communicator. He explained everything in detail and decided on a taco and nacho bar with multiple meats, veggies, every type of topping you can think of and plantains. He checked in with me the day before our lunch and said he's instructed his team on our order and to call him if I need anything which was very nice and reassuring. When we arrived to pick up the food it was ready to go and the front end staff was very courteous and helpful.
Back at the office when we started eating, everyone was raving about the food! And it wasn't just one or two items or people, I heard comments from pretty much everyone and about everything they ate. They give very generous portions and we had leftovers and most people at for lunch the next day and it was still just as good.
Summary - the food is so great, lots of options, very generous portions, friendly...
Read moreNew- so I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt here. Got to-go on a weeknight. Overall it’s basic chain- level Mexican food, with a fun location vibe. Great: atmosphere, location, patio & cleanliness Good: Order was correct and timely, quesadillas and tacos were good Not good: forgot our queso & no silverware or napkins in the bag Bad: When the rice and beans at Chipotle taste fresher than sit down Mexican, it’s a problem. Why do restaurants keep insisting on the tired flavorless orange rice and soupy beans? Also, we LOVE chicken tortilla soup, especially when sick, but this was not it. Instead of a brothy, chunks of chicken, veggies and avocado- it was all pureed together. We prefer traditional tortilla soup.
I hope this is just new restaurant stuff and the feedback will be helpful going forward. Please make some fresh rice and beans- and more traditional soup. Love the patio and a new place on the south side of town! We will...
