Update: The hotel claims to be part of Ascend Hotel Collection by Choice Hotels that "are one-of-a-kind, upscale, boutique hotels in urban and resort locales." THIS IS NOT AN UPSCALE HOTEL. Upscale hotels have the courtesy of taking care of customers and any concerns that arise. Despite repeated promises from front desk staff that the manager, Jonna Ramirez, would reach out to me to discuss the unauthorized entry into my room and loss of personal property, this never happened. To add insult to injury, since I left, they added an additional charge for an amenity fee that was not disclosed at check in. While I understand hotels can have resort fees, I expect them to actually provide something other than coffee in a carafe. My previous review focused on the importance of security in an effort to keep my review short for others to read but now feel that I need to add more about the property itself. The property is very outdated and does not rise to the level of a luxury boutique hotel. The carpeting between rooms is significantly worn with patches of missing rug. Toilet paper and towel holders are barely hanging onto the wall. The furniture shows its age. The cover for the battery on the TV remotes does not stay on and the remotes are dirty and sticky. Furniture is old and beat up as if from low quality motel. ||This hotel is in a great location for walking around the city. However, the hotel itself is very outdated, but the biggest negative is the security of the place. I placed the Do Not Disturb sign on my door as I would not need housekeeping for the 2 nights I would be staying there. I had purchased some food to bring back home from 2 very popular and must go to places (Kaminsky’s and Poogan’s Porch). On the day of check out, I find that my food is gone. The refrigerator is completely empty. I reached out to the front desk and let them know that despite the Do Not Disturb sign, I suspected housekeeping went in and cleaned out the refrigerator. I was assured by the housekeeping manager that no one from her department went into my room. If indeed it was housekeeping that went into clean, their service is poor as nothing else was cleaned (no beds made, no trash taken out). Regardless, I had the Do Not Disturb sign up and no one should have been in my room without my knowledge or consent. I was told the hotel manager would reach out to me to discuss my concerns about the security and items lost. Security wise, the front entrance to the hotel is only accessible by key after 8 pm, however, there is a back stairwell near the room I was in that is unlocked, kept ajar, and easily accessible from the courtyard at any time of day/night. The issue of safety and security when staying in a place is vital and for the expense of a hotel that is outdated, the price is not worth it. If a bed is all you need and you don’t care about cost, safety, and amenities, then this is the...

Read moreOur group of 4 adults ( two couple's) stayed here late april 2025, we stayed in the two bedroom, two bath townhome unit. First , the great. Location, location, location. You are for all purposes right in the center of downtown Charleston. The city market is just steps from the front door. with in 3 blocks you have trinket shops, restaurants, horse carriage rides, historic homes and churches, and a bus stop for the free city carta bus#211.| Just a couple more blocks away is the waterfrount and target store (this is where we got most of our supplies). the visitor center was farther away but using the bus we got there within 10 min. || The good. the rooms here are similar to a two story townhouse. (Prefect for families or couples) the first floor had a full bath w/shower, living room, dining room, and an apartment size kitchen , with stove, microwave, fridge, coffee maker. The second floor had the two separate bedrooms , one with a full bath. each with a balcony . the beds were comfortable, had plenty of pillows. the water pressure was good and we always had hot water. the unit had plenty of space to spread out and multiple tvs. the AC kept us comfortable for our stay. the kitchen was stocked with plates, cups and silverwhere. || The not so good. sadly, this hotel doesn't offer vending machines including ice. so you will need to take your bucket to the front desk and ask them to fill it for you. there is no breakfast, pool , or hot tub here. our biggest disappointment is, this hotel has a no maid service policy on extended stays. this means if you are staying more than one night, they do not come and clean your room until you check out. During your stay you will need to ask for replacement towels or anything elce you need. ( i just dont like that) || Overall we did like this place. it was clean, comfortable, and the staff members were all polite and helpful. Always greeted us with a smile and a hello. were always helpful when we needed something and did there best to answer any questions we had. || just things we noticed. there is a bar across the street with outside seating that if you are a light sleeper, can be heard until 2 am. we had brought a fan with us so it helped to dround out the noise . these units have a fair amount of stairs in them so its not good for people with mobility problems. the ceiling fans only work with a remote for that fan. we were missing a remote so could not use at all. || we used a taxi from the airport to get here, took about 20 minutes and cost $65 for 4 people. would recommend using...
