We intended on a 2 night stay. Liked it so much, booked a third night. Nice, woodsy campground. You don't even realize you're next to an amusement park (we didn't go into Carowinds) Great pool. Laundry on-site $2/wash or dry. Firewood is pricey $15/four logs. We have a propane pit, so no problems there. Other campers said the shuttle to the parks is super convenient. Many were coming back by 2 or 3 to cool off in the pool as the parks were getting crowded. We were chose a back in site for our 36ft TT & were assigned site #110. Nice paved, level pad. We hugged it to the side so the steps would be on the pad & this helped to keep the dirt out. The pad does drop off, so be careful not to twist your ankle. Backs up to a nice forest with lightning bugs. Kept us shaded in the summer heat. There is a small amount of long-term/permanent (?) campers near our site. Mildly run down in that section, but folks are quiet. I felt safe as a female walking to/from the bath house. Bathroom/Showers were large private rooms. Very nice! Seems like most choose the pull-thru sites. But if you want a little more privacy & forest behind you and you can back in, go for one of those sites.

If your destination is Carowinds and if camping is your thing, then you need to stay at Camp Wilderness. Even if you don't have a camper they have cabins. You can't get anymore convenient and close to the park than staying here. The folks at check-in were super friendly and knowledgeable. Every interaction we had with staff was excellent. If you have a camper, you'll appreciate the large sites and ease of navigating the campground. We were in site 150 which was a nice sized full-hookup pull-thru. If you're going to the park, they have a shuttle that runs pretty much non-stop all day from open to after close and it literally takes 5 minutes or less to get in the park. We just had a great stay and we're headed back soon. Even if you're not going to the park this is a great location if you're in the area and very affordable. Check it out!

DO NOT GO HERE!!!! We had gotten the lodge and when we got there it was great until my friend and I went to lay down and saw a bed bug crawling next to me, we got up and looked around for more and within 1hr we had found 7+ in the whole lodge, when there is one there is many more. We got moved to two different cabins and 1 of the 2 had bed bugs as well. The other one had a toilet that didn't flush so we had to fill the back with water, it was 4am at this point and we were just so tired. We stayed in the one with the bad toilet because that beats bed bugs for sure. Definitely do not recommend coming here. With all that being said I want to mention that the security guard was looking through our windows roughly at 2am and it was not okay, this was before we found the bed bugs. Again I do not recommend this place

This place is the worst. The cabins are about 300 or 350 sqft if that. The two rooms rooms are tiny. There are no irons nor dressers. There were bugs. The mattresses were so thin. The company states the room holds 8 but the true hold is about 3. I spoke with the manager. I asked the manager for towels for the pool. She stated the resort does not provide towels for the pools nor extra towels for the room if needed. She stated she will see what she can do. She did provide a few towels. In order for you to receive clean towels, you have to take your dirty towels to the office and leave it with them and they will provide your clean towels at a later time. Their is about a 15 inch TV in the dining/tiny living room area. Even more inconvenience their are two remote controls lol. One for the TV itself and one for direct TV service. The white remote was dirty. No telling how dirty the black remote was. All eight people who stayed in the cabin complained of back aches and the mattresses were hard. They bunk beds were not regular sized beds. There were smaller. The pictures you see that is advertised as the cabin are terribly deceiving. They took the pictures from an angle to make the rooms look bigger. I asked to checkout but since I already check-in in I had to stay that night and got a refund for the reminder of the for nights. I checked I.to the best Western of Carolinas where they provide unlimited towels, breakfast, TVs comfortable beds and much more room. I was able to get two room for less than what they charge which was about two hundred plus a night. This place is no where near worth the money they charge. I mean with eight people in that cabin we could not even move around comfortably. The TV in the best Western was able 32 inches and was on a swivel. I went to complain and management nor the workers even cared. There was another lady at the desk complaining they double charged her card and management found she was double charged but she could not get a refund until the person came in who double charged her. The pool is tiny. I could not believe I was looking for a damn hotel room on my five day vacation but thank God for the best Western. I will never ever book a cabin at the Carowinds resorts. I booked a week but stayed only one night. When check-in out I asked why the bed were so hard and uncomfortable and all members of my cabin complained of back pains The rep stated the mattresses were being replaced slowly starting with the executive lodges and one day the cabin. What's sad is that he stated they receive alot of complaints about the mattresses and backaches. I checked out and I am very happy with my choice at the best Western. Please please please do not book a cabin. You will be more than sorry. I spent three hours looking for hotels and every hotel said they had or have customers who checked out of the cabins to check into there hotel. The female manager did not care about why we wanted to check out. She was more than happy to give me a refund. To add the shower knobs were black molded and the floors of the cabin were not swept as trash was all between the cracks. The swing on the porch was nice though and the log table was nice. Pull out sofa was a joke. The camp grounds were nice. They advertise a volley ball net. I asked where was it and the rep stated her words " oh I don't know" they took it down". This was one of the activities they advertise but not available as the corn toss. The manager did not offer anything due to our inconvenience she just happily gave a refund with not...

Love to listen to your windows shake at night? Want your small children to be up until midnight because of a speaker war party going on directly behind your cabin? This is the place for you!

Let me say the positives: our cabin was the perfect size if you’re just looking for a place to sleep after a long day in the park. Clean. Shuttle to a from park is great. Front desk was not super knowledgeable about the actual park but helped us as much as they could.

Negatives: the only negatives from the cabin itself were that we didn’t have a shower head and no complimentary toiletries provided which I feel is pretty standard for a resort style rental.

Location: night 1. At the time of check in around 8:30 pm extremely loud music was playing around the cabin. When escorted to the cabin we were told by staff, “oh yeah it’s a warehouse parking lot behind us. It can sometimes go on until 1 or 2 am every Friday and Saturday night. Earplugs and hope for the best.” This music continued until around 11 the windows were shaking from the bass of the music. we had enough and went outside finding other campers outside their rentals as well calling the police. Tried to find a hotel for the night as we have small children needing to sleep but best was $300 a night downtown and we almost took it but decided to see if it would stop. We went to the security office and they stated they had called already. Around 11:30 pm the music turned off.

Day 2: discussed with campground check in that this was a very large issue as it being a family campground with small children. We were told that emails had been sent to management already that were kindly dismissed as an off-property problem.

Night 2: we thought we had lucked up but at 10 pm music began again this time shaking the cabin to the point of soap falling into the sink. Police called again by many campers and music off around 11:30 again.

This being an ongoing problem, I would not stay here again due to the simple fact we were only staying there as a place to sleep which was hard to obtain. City ordinance daytime 8 am-11 pm noise is no greater than 85 decibels and no greater than 65 decibels after 11 pm. This far surpassed these and I hated bothering police with such a trivial problem but it was clear that was our...

We enjoyed the cabin as it was perfect in size for our weekend trip to Carowinds. Our day at the park and the cleanliness of the cabin would’ve made our trip perfect. But…..

I don’t normally write reviews but I hope some negative reviews will prompt the management at Carowinds Camp Wilderness to flex some muscle with city officials regarding the ongoing noise issue that is no small nuisance. Apparently there is an open warehouse parking lot just on the other side of the trees from the cabins (at the back of the property) where some people gather on weekends and have some sort of speaker wars blaring EXTREMELY LOUD music until all hours of the night.

When we arrived, we noticed this as we unpacked the car and though we spoke with not only the staff checking us in but also the security post at Carowinds, we were told by both that because the problem was “off-property” all they could do was call the police and hope they would be able to address the complaint. Had the music not stopped when it did around 11-1130pm, Carowinds would have been paying for 2 hotel rooms for the night or fully reimbursing me for my stay as there was NO sleeping through it. On our way back from speaking with the guard, over half of the cabin occupants were outside talking about it and wondering what could be done about it.

I’m sure that Carowinds brings no small amount of tourist revenues in for the city as well as their corporate property and income taxes. To me, it seems as though there should be some sort of solution that working together with the said warehouse owner and the city by where this activity can be halted. I don’t believe it should be just negative Google reviews and campers having to call emergency services just to take care of this problem. I’m sure this is the LAST thing on their priority list, but if this is a known problem, management should not just brush it off. They should go try to spend a night in their own cabins and experience it. I think they’d be sorely disappointed by their stay, as well. PLEASE MANAGEMENT OF CAMP WILDERNESS, FIND A SOLUTION SO YOU DON’T LOOSE YOUR...
