First of all, once I arrived and let the desk clerk know that I had a reservation, she proceeded to get me checked in and explained the parking situations due to an adjacent business. Made sure I was aware that they would have my legal turned if I was parking in any of these faces on their side of the parking lot. Next to you received it you let me know there would not be a breakfast 4 in the morning due to undue circumstances. With the manager (Mr Terrell) present beside the desk clerk, I commented what I thought to be in a joking manner, saying "since there isn't any breakfast can I get a discount for my stay" you just park turned to look at her manager and he replied "breakfast is a complimentary offered at the hotel gives, and due to some circumstances there will not be breakfast tomorrow." And then replied again, " so can I get a discount for my stay since it isn't a hot breakfast as it's advertised on the web page" I also shared with the manager that I was a diamond member of The choice rewards program, I felt that I should be accommodate somehow for the negligence of not providing what is stated and advertised as an amenity, not a complimentary. The manager then pursues to say, "I'm sorry about that we won't be having breakfast tomorrow, I can give you your money back." I then replied " so you're going to give me a refund and a room for the night. Mr Terrell then says,"no i give you a refund, and you can go stay somewhere else that has a hot breakfast." I really was not sure how to receive that statement coming from the manager of this establishment. Being one of management in my lifetime was an employer, I don't think that was a good comment to be said to a guest. I, in return, said to Mr.Terrell, "had I wanted to stay elsewhere, I would have reserved a room elsewhere." Needless to say, that wasn't the end of this matter because as I walked away from the front desk, I overheard Mr Terrell verbally Express an opinion involving race. His words as I walked away were "that's white people for you" I could have escalated the matter into something negative way more beyond what it was already but I chose not to. However not happy with this situation.
Add even more to this reservation and stay, the TV in the room I was given would not work correctly. It gave volume of whatever was playing on the channel, but there was no picture. No picture of any type on the screen, everything was black. With this my stay was disturbed waiting for someone to come and do an exchange. While the manager Mr Terrell himself came down to swap out the TVs I go over to the bed area and turn on the lamp and discover the light is defected. He then has to go and get a light bulb and return to the room, another disturbance during my stay, which just so happens to be only an hour into my reservation at this time.
A few hours later, I also discovered the microwave did not work correctly. Some of the buttons and features on it would not activate or the function would not be an option for selecting. Such as the clear button for the timer did not work, the number five button diagonal from that previous one would not work and the next one in the upper left part of that keypad; same thing, would not work.
Still not the end of this nightmare, the next morning I asked front desk if it will be okay even after I check out to put on a auto part cause it's was unsafe to drive as is because it is part of the brake system. Shortly after removing the tire, and wheel drum and brake shoes, I saw that another post is needed. I proceed to call the auto parts store, trying to locate what I need. While doing so, the manager (Mr.Terrell) drives the Company Van around the building to where I am. He rudely, and disrespectfully tells me I couldn't be doing this in the premises and needed to leave. In return I am explaining I haven't the part to fix my car. I'm not about to drive it and. And needed a ride to get the car part, and I asked him to take me. Then he replies, " No! I won't take you, you need to figure out what you gonna do. You shouldn't have started this here, so I'm going to check your back in until you leave." I then said "No you not, I'm not authorizing such on my debit card either. And if you do a transaction I will press charges. What is your name sir. Your full name, cause I will report this behavior and disrespect. I am a choice rewards diamond member who will not settle for your actions" After asking him for his name, which he does not provide, and with his negative body language he storms off back to the hotel van and speds off back toward the front of the hotel. After getting the part I needed for my car and replacing the part on the car making it driveable again. Now drove up to the front desk to ask the front door desk clerk for his name which she did give and he came out from the opposite direction standing there staring me down as if he could chew me up and spit me out. Not once given an apology not once saying he's sorry not once anything in a positive manner. This has been the worst experience ever in life and I am 57 years old with any Management in any type of establishment. With this location and him being employed there I will never recommend anyone to that place and if they can't honor what they offer they need to take off the hot breakfast as an amenity with your stay. I think I've written enough on this and I've explained it very detailed to where anyone can see how it made me...
Read moreContender for worst hotel on the east coast. To start, the rooms, hallways, and lobby are absolutely disgusting, have stained ceilings, and garbage just sitting around. The location next to the airport is horrendous as the planes get insanely close and they are very loud, however I am aware that this is not the hotel's fault. But, it is tucked away on the road so it is difficult to find when you are unfamiliar with the area. Nonetheless, I think the most atrocious aspect of this living nightmare of an establishment is the staff. They were rude, unhelpful, and deliberately lied to my face. I was with a group of college-aged students and although the employees did not appear to be that much older than us, they treated us as though we were children and not paying customers. They were wearing their airpods, which is incredibly unprofessional. I check in the group and they tell me the card on file declined (not mine) since it did not match my name, even though the reservation is under my name since I am the only one over 21 in the group. The person whose name is on the card gave it to me to pay the incidentals. I tell the people at the desk that it is fine and I'll pay the incidentals. I proceed to ask how much and I will pay for the room that I am in. The woman tells me that it is $50 per room, which is doable for the amount I had on the card I brought. Then I put my card in and the man on the computer says $144 dollars has been charged to your card and when I asked why it was $94 more than they claimed, an answer was not provided. I do not see how these numbers are comparable in the slightest, and this is my fault that I do not have enough money for $144 dollars five times for 5 rooms since I was not the one who planned to pay for it since they claimed to have a policy wherein only the person whose name is on the reservation can pay the incidentals since everyone else in the group offered to pay for theirs. This policy is absolutely ridiculous and caused a great strife in our stay. Eventually, the person whose card was on file came and they let him pay even though he was not old enough and the women working did not properly check his ID because she was not paying attention to anything pertaining to her job. Furthermore, after we get the room keys sorted, one of our group members goes into her room and there is someone else's luggage, clothing, and personal items strewn about the room. We realize that she was given the wrong room key by the women who was already not paying attention to her job. We go up to the desk and explain the situation and instead of apologizing for sending a young girl into a stranger's room (could have been a dangerous situation), she groans rudely and hands over a new key. She could have at the minimum said sorry about that. Additionally, since I have left this portal to hell, I have had patches of irritated skin on my arms and legs, but I shall not divulge further since correlation does not equal causation. I already had a low opinion of Charlotte, North Carolina and believed it to be the worst city in the United States prior to visiting this alleged "hotel," but now I believe that Charlotte is possibly the worst city in the world. I do not know how on Earth it gained the moniker of the "Queen City." I hope the Country Inn can at minimum, find a more caring and attentive staff and maybe clean the place up. As for me, well I can guarantee you that I will never, ever set foot in a Country Inn & Suites or Charlotte, North Carolina for as long as I am on this planet. UPDATE: I was just informed that I will not be getting my incidental back after being accused of leaving blood in the room, which is asinine, ridiculous, and probably a ploy to not give me my money back. Additionally, I was informed that I did in fact pay for the room and that is why it was so much more than the $50. I cannot fathom why they did not tell me that before I put my card in the machine. I cannot believe I was gaslit into spending $144 on this...
Read moreI used to love Country Inn and Suites. It was charming, clean, inviting, good customer service and overall a great experience. They have changed lots of things so gone are the days of the wood floors and stair cases, fireplaces and cozy living room atmosphere. Apparently that cozy feeling isn't the only thing missing. The one positive thing I can say about this hotel was the hard working young female desk clerk who was doing double duty as the desk clerk and shuttle driver. Yes, you heard that right. When I arrived to check in there was a sign posted at the desk reading, "Sorry, be back in 15 minutes". Sure enough about 10 minutes later a young woman driving the airport shuttle van arrives with new guests then rushes in, jumps behind the desk and starts helping the woman in front of me. I couldn't believe it! To her credit she did a great job. She was the only positive about this hotel. It is not in what I would consider the safest part of town so beware. Believe the reviews which say it was awful because it is. The hotel is filthy, and I mean really dirty. The elevator door was covered in dirty hand prints and food stuck on the doors. My room had used hand towels in it...USED as in not clean!!!! The air conditioner didn't work...definitely a deal breaker but I didn't even want to stay here at this point as it was a major dump. When checking in I told the young lady I needed a shuttle ride to the airport. She asked me when and I told her 7:00am the next day. She then informed me she had no "room" on the shuttle bus until 8. I was floored. I asked how that could be, I was told they had 24 hour shuttle availability and she said it was full and I cold either leave at 6:30 or take the chance to leave at 8 and miss my flight. She had already told me it was taking an hour to get through security. I am a very nervous flyer and missing my flight was just not an option for me. I told her I had called to make sure they had a shuttle before I made my reservations and they never mentioned anything about being limited on shuttle space. I checked in but after getting to the room and finding there were dirty towels in it and no air conditioner, I returned to the front desk telling her I wasn't planning on staying here. Did I mention the Shuttle Van had several huge dents in the side of it? Let's just say all around I felt like I was taking my life in my hands at this place. I do not recommend this place at all. I told the young clerk I wanted to speak to a manager ( I wanted a refund) which of course was no where to be found. She gave me his email and assured me he would get right back to me. Have I heard from him? NOPE, not once and I have sent him two emails. My reservation was for April 15th and I still haven't heard a word. So much for getting right back to me. I filed a complaint with Choice Hotels today, let's see if that gets any response. They opened a case for me but they cannot give me my money back. They also gave me another email saying the one the girl gave me was not the right one. Made me wonder if this was just a bogus email they gave to people who complain. Either way, I wouldn't stay here ever. It's dirty, unsafe, you might not get your shuttle reservation and they don't seem to care about any of these problems. If I could give it a zero I would, all except for the young lady at the desk. She has a tough job and she handled it...
