I booked this hotel room to stay at after a day of Carowinds with my daughter . We did not arrive until 10:30 p.m. and it was late and we were exhausted. Upon arrival, I was checked in and when I got to my room I realized that they had given me a king size when my reservation was for a two double bed. I called down to the front desk and advised them of the situation. I spoke with Charles who told me that I was incorrect and that my reservation was for a king bed room. I advised him that I had proof on my phone that I had a confirmation for two double beds. He hung up on me. I went down to the lobby and, as I was speaking with the other lady down there, I advised her how I was hung up on by Charles. He started laughing hysterically. The other lady went on several times to tell me that when Wyndham booked my hotel through my rewards program they did not book me two double beds. She finally got on the phone when she wouldn't listen to me and found out from another employee that, in fact, I did have a reservation for two double beds but for some reason they had not canceled the king size they mistakenly booked in error, which caused 2 rooms to be booked. I did advise her that I did not appreciate that Charles hung up on me to which he started screaming at me that he did not hang up on me. My daughter did interject at that time stating that he laughed the first time when I said he hung up on me. At this point he became belligerent and started screaming at us, "FIND A MAN TO TALK TO ME! FIND A MAN TO TALK TO ME!" in an extremely misogynistic and violent behavior. I'm sure this will be denied by Charles so I do encourage Wyndham to check the lobby video camera on 10/18/25 @ 10:30pm to 11pm to see how your poor excuse for an employee acted. This made me embarrassed to be a Wyndham customer and I have second hand embarrassment for Wyndham for having chose this person to represent Wyndham at their front desk. I was never given an apology for the way he acted, getting my room wrong or for them not listening when I tried to tell them there might be more than one room. They need to talk less and listen more. Once I got to my room, the double bed that I did, in fact, book - I found it very outdated. The furniture looked to be from the 1960s and not all the electric outlets worked. The service combined with the quality of the hotel, Never again. This has made me weary of continuing to book Wyndham Hotels going forward.
Update - GM contacted me and, as on each of the other bad reviews, was very dismissive about my concerns and accused me of being rude to his staff and screaming at them first. I have asked him several times to pull the video so that he could see for himself (as all the events he seemed to have were entirely inaccurate) but he will not. Filing a complaint directly with Wyndham regarding the whole establishment and asking them to pull the video. Update 2 - Manager will not accept responsibility of staff. He refuses to acknowledge the violent rant of his employee. My guess is that the video does not have sound which is why he keeps saying what the video showed and not what he could hear. Manager is very unprofessional, using canned responses to reply to guests reviews but then blames guests for errors made by his employees. By his own account, I was down there a good 6 minutes before they gave me the correct room key. If they weren't arguing, what were they doing? As far as her helping me out? Gas lighting at its finest.
Stay here at your own risk and make sure that you keep all of your documentation because they will not accept responsibility for...
Read moreLet me start by staying this hotel is way overpriced for the service, appearance and amenities. They charge as though they are a higher end hotel but you receive nothing more than you would get a budget hotel. The rooms are less than average. They advertise that there is an airport shuttle but don't tell you that the shuttle doesn't run between 12:00pm and 4:00pm. You read that right pm - it doesn't run in the middle of the afternoon. When I called and complained, I was told that I should have asked about the hours of the shuttle. Really? Maybe if I was expecting service at 3:00 am but most people assume that an airport shuttle will be running in the middle of the afternoon so I think the hotel has a duty to inform its guests of such abnormal running hours. And, if you are charging $130 a night you should have shuttle service all day! Don't charge like you are a Marriott and provide decor and services of a Red Roof Inn!!
I wrote my initial review before I actually spoke to Sunny S. I felt that I needed to add to my review to address his complete lack of professionalism. Sunny said he saw my review and was clearly annoyed. He stated "you people get pissed off over something and write your bad review". First, I really wonder who trained Sunny to be a manager in a hospitality position because I highly doubt they would want him to use the term "pissed off". Then, in a very condescending manner, Sunny asked if I ever travel. He stated he has traveled to 27 countries and always asks about things like wifi and shuttles when he travels. He said we should have asked about the shuttle hours. I replied that I don't know where he stays but when I travel things like that are told to me at check-in and usually I am given a print out or card with this information on it and that I was asking for an airport shuttle during busy travel hours and not in the middle of the night. He then said that my son should have waited an hour and a half for the shuttle. I replied that he had traveled all day and still had a long drive ahead of him and shouldn't have to wait for a service that should have been supplied in the middle of the afternoon. Sunny then said "is your son Prince Charles?". I found that extremely offensive!! Like I wasn't entitled to have a service that was promised by the hotel and on the website!! Apparently only royalty is entitled to that at the Wingate!! I found it extremely unprofessional, rude and condescending. I will never stay at a Wyndham property again if this is how their staff...
