I had the worst am to pm, at CLT, dt American Airline's losing my carry onsš„². My life was in them, including medicine and my phone. My pocket book, as well. NOBODY knew where they were, At All! Rude and yelling at me. I had to go through detectors,,w/a pacemaker. I finally got a regular phone, after 6 hours of searching. I had to call my mom, have her make reservations, as I didn't have my phone, had to rebook a flight home, bc missed, (none out, for 3 days). But I love NC ;) I knew where to call :). The Hampton Inn and Suites. I had stayed across the street, admiring it, when walking to get coffee, items I forget and some food, at the 7 Eleven, next to it, bc the Marriott was AWFUL! We own time shares through, are members and just a terrible experience, overall. So disappointing. Anyways, I Thoroughly LOVED MY STAY here! It was clean, Sooo comfortable and the Staff were SOOOOOOOO welcoming. They knew what had happened, (wish I got her name, at the front desk, actually 2), bc they went above and beyond, to make my stay more comfortable. They Always had a smile to greet me and anything that I didn't have, which was most, dt my bags being checked, flying to Boston Lol..), they had for you. Razors, etc.. Just ask and done!! Their room/area of needs, was always stocked, the breakfast was delicious. I actually got to make my own waffles and the flavor, I love. I was in heaven. Swollen, but at peace. I missed my eggos back home LOL. I had nothing, but the entrance made me smile. The mats. Outside and inside sayings. The driver, for the shuttle, during my stay, (again, wish I got his name), had a smile each day, like the rest, saying, "Good Morning or Afternoon/Evening", telling me where to get food next door, chatting, just Sweet. The woman who worked in the area for breakfast, was so Nice and cleaning like crazy. She works hard. They all do. I didn't know how to make my waffles, apparently you need to flip it over š and she was helping me. Brought my delicious breakfast, which they had tons of choices, (most of the hotels around didn't have anything open, just a wrapped muffin, dt covid and no help) and propped my feet up, ate and chilled. Apparently, I only had the clothes I wore, on that day and my 2nd Carry on, only had a few dirty clothes š. They had detergent, dryer sheets and a laundry room, open. Marriott's was "out of order". That was huge for me. Rooms were super nice and clean. Wish I had a balcony, but no big deal. I sat outside most of the day and night. Quiet and friendly people, walking by, if any. A short lil walk, to get some different drinks and snacks, and gel for burnt, Swollen feet, to the store. Gas, as well. The bathroom was super nice and clean. I loved the blue tape on the door. I was exhausted, so not noticing, or I should say, understanding, of why it ripped apart, when I opened the door. It was to tell you the room had been cleaned. Nice touch š. The rooms, I didn't get any pictures of, but knew I belonged, when I saw the driver pull in, with the Happy shuttle. I enjoyed seeing. Such a wonderful saying. Pics to follow. Not the best. I Sincerely Thank you All, for your kindness, help, Time, patience and smiles. They go above and beyond. My shuttle driver, who took me to CLT, leaving, got my bags out and showed me where to go. That airport is huge. She was tiny too. Idk how she lifted my bags, over packed, with Nothingsš, but she did and I am grateful š. It was a definite, needed, beautiful rest, break and pleasure to stay. I'll be back, bc...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe taller, stockier African American woman working the front desk around 11pm-to-midnight on April, 21st 2024 was so rude that she made me cry. I was left stuck in Charlotte after a 8.5 HOUR international flight with a collective 2.5 HOUR (you read that right) delay in take off and deplaning. After standing in line to talk to an airline associate for 45 minutes, they let me know they couldnāt help accommodate me and that they wish me good luck. This was 10:30 at night. I was exhausted, starving, upset about being stranded, and just wanted somewhere to shower and sleep. I called Hampton ahead of time to ensure a room. The woman on the phone affirmed availability so I booked the single-bed room for $160 online. Grabbed a $16 Uber over since I was so tired and didnāt want to wait for a bus. When I arrived, I greeted the desk clerk with āHi, Iāve just booked a reservation forāā She cut me off with āWEāRE FULL.ā I said Iād just booked online and she cut me off again saying āYouāre not hearing me. Weāre FULL.ā Just a complete refusal to help. After me standing there looking stupid for a moment, she asked for my name to look up my reservation. I started to spit out that āif it helps, I have a confirmation codeā and she started speaking down to me again, sternly and coldly, about how the company overbooks the hotel and how she now has to call around the other hotels nearby to see if they have rooms to accommodate me. She said verbatim āI hate when they do this to me. Welcome to MY night.ā This interaction made me feel so burdensome and after having dealt with the unhelpful airliner and all the travel issues, being so tired and hungry and uncomfortable, I just stood there and started crying. She was supposed to āwalk me overā to a neighboring hotel with a voucher, but she didnāt. She gave me the voucher, didnāt even call security, and sent me into the dark of midnight with two heavy bags to find my new hotel.
I am sorry that you hate your job so much. I am so sorry that youāre so underpaid for what you have to deal with, that you donāt feel pride in doing something so simple as treating someone else with grace. But I wasnāt deserving of the offloaded stress and disrespect. It made my day profoundly worse.
I am a long-time Honors member, basic level, but I always try to stay in any Hilton hotel. That will likely be changing due to this experience, and other hotel chains beginning to step up to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI never write reviews but this hotel and its management and staff were so bad, I just have to warn others. They are a bunch of racketeers and treat you with scorn and rudeness when you try to complain. I spent one night here because of a flight cancellation, and checked out at 530 am the next morning thinking I had a plane to catch. But that flight was changed too and my trip was delayed till the afternoon. I called the hotel and asked the receptionist if I could go back into my hotel room despite having checked out. She said yes, but only until noon. I actually had a meeting I needed to join between 1230-230 pm, and so resolved to ask when I got back to the hotel if I could check out later than noon. When I got back later in the morning (I lingered at the airport trying unsuccessfully to get my suitcase), I asked the receptionist if I could stay longer than noon because I had some work to do. The receptionist, who must have been a different person than the one I spoke to on the phone, said I could stay as long as I wanted because her colleague had extended my booking. I thought that was very kind of them, thank you, and said I'd be leaving at 230 pm. When I then left at 230 pm and told the same receptionist that I was done with the room, thank you, she said oh don't thank us you paid for it. What? They had charged me a second night! They didn't ask, I didn't say yes they could. To the contrary, if they hadn't been prepared to let me stay in the room beyond noon I would have used a meeting room or the breakfast area or a lounge in the airport for my meeting. I said you can't charge me another night just like that and the receptionist rudely told me there was no point in arguing. She said she'd get the manager but she bet he would say the same. The manager came along and told me tough luck, we are charging you. We charge everybody who stays beyond the checkout time. They refused to budge and were extremely rude about it. I spoke to customer service at Hilton HQ and complained and they are looking into it. But whatever they manage to do I wanted to warn others about this hotel and its staff. And that's without even mentioning the fact you can't sleep in this hotel because it's right under the flight path of landing aircraft and the insulation in the windows is substandard. This hotel does not deserve to be in the...
