First off my husband and I came to NC for Valentines weekend and we were enjoying our time until we decided to visit this restaurant from an IG food review that we came across. It was the worst mistake EVER. The waitress was very nice and seemed to be doing her best but right off the bat we could tell they were short staff, and unorganized. We ordered chicken bang bang tacos which were COLD , overcooked , dry and not seasoned at all…. We let that ride.. my husband orders his food then I ordered Salmon w rice and plantains. The plantains were overcooked and rubbery ( I was able to fold them in half) then right after I’d eaten my salmon which I had poured all of the spicy African sauce onto I noticed it was RAW on the inside- very RAW like slimy and mushy.. When the waitress came over she was horrified and disgusted, she apologized MULTIPLE times ( and she didn’t even cook that mess) stating she was trying to get in touch with the owner…. Long story short she came back teary eyed saying the owner said to take off the salmon. I hadn’t even eaten the entire plate of food. My husband and I were HEATED. TAKE OFF THE SALMON???? That’s all?????? My fish was hiding under a sauce but was mushy and slimy inside. No Mister owner TAKE OFF THE ENTIRE plate and pray your customer doesn’t catch food poisoning smh… I asked her to speak with him but he wanted NO parts of me or her. Obviously whatever she said to him about what she’d seen with her own eyes rubbed him the wrong way because after returning to our table she stated that she would take care of it…. We did not leave right away because she was distraught and we were hoping he’d call the restaurant to speak with us. , I instantly caught a migraine by how disgusting, and in compassionate and non chalant a business owner could be. Till this very moment I would like to know how 1 plate of food could have affected his daily income THAT bad… there is NO telling how much of my salmon was RAW because I had sauce completely covering it. What harm would it have done to say we are sorry on behalf of the cook and the owner therefore the plate is on us?? Not to mention his sorry “””chef””” never came to apologize. Dear owner, you are a disgusting , in compassionate GREEDY individual who does NoT respect or care for your employees. They feel stressed working for you and unappreciated. How do I know because 2 of them told us so. We were told that you were watching us on the camera , and you stop answering for your employees… you are greedy and mean. BUT instead of praying on the downfall of your business I’ll choose to pray for your business to grow and I hope that you will learn from this experience and treat your employees better. They don’t feel valued. I am nautious today and still have headache from your UNCOOkED food. Get it together. What you thought I’d forgot to post it yesterday??? were I had a migraine and stomachs ache since I ATE your RAW food, I had to get myself together.
In response to your comment- we KNEW that would be your RESPONSE… we didn’t run ANywhere we were TOLD not to worry about anything from the waitress who you had bawling the entire time and you know this because you were watching the restaurant on camera the whole time. stop lying under this review and work on building up your employees and find a new cook. Your food was raw, you NOR your “””wife””” didn’t care and you have no compassion about customers because you just want the MONEY. Don’t try to go back and forth with me when you hid your face from us yesterday we don’t care about no police or laws when we haven’t broken any YOU better hope that I feel better by in the morning OR you gonna be running from my attorney GREEEDY.. don’t forget you watched the whole transaction on camera— did you forget you kicked 2 kids trying to sell candy apples out? Grow UP and be accountable smart guy! GOOD BYE! God doesn’t like ugly- bet you wish you would have spoke to me yesterday...
Read moreWhere do I start....I'll mention the good first, after that everything went down hill. The waitress was friendly and the "available" food was good.We decided to visit Charlotte for Mother's Day weekend.
After finishing a movie, my husband, girls and I went to Lagz and was greeted by a nice young lady who seated us and asked if we will like water to drink.
Already having read the reviews that it takes a long time to get your food we came knowing we will be waiting..However this wasn't the bigger issue...
For appetizers we ordered beef suya and chicken wings. My husband asked for the Nkwobi, in which the waitress said they didn't have available. Alternatively he requested the Ponomo Alta, Goat pepper soup, moi-moi, kids jollof rice.
After a while she gave us complimentary puff puff and then Suya. We ate the appetizers, then the waitress came shortly after, stating they didn't have Ponomo Alta and goat meat pepper soup available as well. At this point I already decided in my mind we were going somewhere else to eat after leaving this restaurant. I didnt want to waste no more time here, but i did, lol. A gentleman with a suit, whom I think was the Manager approached our table. I asked him, you all don't have any cow skin foods? He said he will go check, but never came back to inform us nor did the waitress. The waitress thought he did. Lack of communication.
My husband informed the waitress instead of the kids jollof meal, make it the adult size. So at this point(40 minutes later) we were still waiting on our wings, the moi-moi, the adult quantity Jollof rice. When the waitress was passing, my husband asked about the wings. The waitress never added the wings. She insisted that she could add the wings, I said no. It was evident that she was not fully attentive. Now at this point we are waiting on the jollof meal and the moi-moi. Once again as she was passing by My husband asked her about the moi-moi and she said it's still being prepared. After how long, I thought.... I was very disappointed in this resturants food operations. So I told her to take it off our order. I was done with Lagz. She later came with moi-moi stating since it was already made we will have to pay for it and then asked will we like a fork. I looked at her and said I am not paying for this. She insisted. I then asked to speak to a manager. At this point I was going to firmly explain some things to the manager. Either they were going to take it off or we werent paying for nothing and leaving. The manager never came. The waitress returned removing the moi-moi from the order.
Out of the 7 things we wanted to order we left only getting 2..which was the Suya, and jollof meal. This was a below standard experience. Like I mentioned before, the food was good but the ordering experience...
Read moreI was excited to try the 1st Sunday Buffet here once I saw it advertised on Instagram. Walking in it took me and my date 15mins to get noticed by the front-end staff because they were too busy having side conversations to explain or acknowledge us until we started to look for seating and they abruptly walked up to us and requested pay first. The charge for two people came out to 75.00 and they give you bands to wear on your wrist. Walking into the buffet you quickly realize that you've spent way more than the meal would be worth. Given that I love trying new things I tried to make the best of it. There aren't very many options, and the food doesn't have labels, so you kind of have to pick and pray on the level of spice or meat that you're about to eat. Two people at $75 you would expect to have more than 12 options to pick from and more than water to drink but that price does not include soft drinks with refills even though it's a "buffet" and you paid almost 100 to eat. I can't stand a cheap restaurant that charges 5 star prices and offers 1 star service. It was extremely hot in the restaurant made uncomfortable by the catering set up that they were running the buffet off of so it was cooler in the shade outside than it was inside and I can only imagine the kitchen. My date was sweating so much I felt terrible that I even mentioned this place. Two things to mention if you're looking for a safe bet don't even bother with the mac and cheese because it was GOD AWEFUL and the salad offered was pretty much thrown together with no care. Your safest bet would be the fruit salad and at least that was fresh. I had very high hopes for this place, but left feeling extremely cheated. I wouldn't recommend this place even if it was half the price that day. If it wasn't for the young lady who expressed she was newly hired being super sweet, I would definitely have nothing...
