I'll start off by saying the majority of the staff are courteous and helpful. There are a few that come off as cold and unapproachable. For the age of the hotel, the rooms were updated nicely. You can still tell that the rooms are dated but this location has done a better job of disguising that fact than other Crowne Plazas and Holiday Inns I have stayed at. During my stay though, the hotel had a problem with the fire alarm system. The first instance happened on a Saturday afternoon. The fire alarm went off and the whole building had to evacuate and wait for the fire department to investigate. It turns out that it was a false alarm and the alarm system was to blame. That's fine, technical problems happen. Then this happened a second time on Sunday night. The alarm went off about 2 A.M. I believe. Again, the whole building had to evacuate and wait for the fire department. Once everything was clear and we returned to our rooms, I noticed my strobe light is still flashing. This continued for 15 minutes until the fire alarm went off a second time. This time I did not evacuate. I was staying on the 16 floor and I was not about to walk down 13 flights of stairs again just for a faulty alarm system. I waited for the alarm to clear. When the alarm was silenced, I waited 30 minutes for the strobe light to go off but it never did. That's when I decided to go to the front desk to drop off my laundry and let them know about the alarm in my room. When I got there, they immediately asked if I was checking out. I'm assuming that other guests got fed up with the constant alarms and left. I told them no and that I only wanted to drop off laundry and let them know the strobe light was still on in my room. When I did this, the only resolution they could provide was to offer me another room because the facility maintenance team would not be there until early in the morning. I was originally staying for 2 weeks, so I had quite a bit of stuff to pack up if I was leaving the room. At this point, it was also 4 A.M. by now and I had to be a job site in 3 hours and I still haven't slept. If I was going to have to pack up, then I might as well go to another hotel at that point. I ended up just staying in my room and the strobe light was eventually turned off by 5:30-6:00 A.M. No type of compensation was offered or even a real apology for the first, second, or third alarm by management. The front staff that was there for the night apologized for my inconvenience when I went to tell her about my strobe light but I'm sure she would say sorry to anyone that came up and I'm sure there wasn't much she could do. She had a rough night as well I'm sure. But the management never said or did anything. My only other complaint would be how the staff informs their guests of the arrival of packages or laundry. In short, they don't. I had packages that were delivered the day before I arrived. I was not informed about them but I didn't mind because I wasn't there at the time of arrival so they could have forgotten. But during my stay, I had a second package arrive that I was not told about. If I had not known about the package or had a tracking number on it, I would not have known it was there. As a matter of fact, they didn't know it was there for awhile. As for my laundry that I dropped off during the night of the fire alarms, the staff never called to let me know my laundry had arrived nor did they drop it off. I had to call and ask about...
Read moreMost expensive bed i ever rented. I advise anyone looking at this hotel to look at the double tree next door or the courtyard up the road. Youll be better off. I stood for 1 night at their hotel online was told 147 and change for that price in a "4 star" hotel i expected you know a decent place boy was i wrong arriving at night i pulled into a dark parking lot and first step out of my car an small empty liqour bottle and overflowing trash cans, i tried to pay for parking on with the qr code posted outside however that doesnt work. They take it out your incidentals which is a whole different situatiom. cool walk inside there a line of 3 people in a lobby thats looks like a furniture clearance sale cant tell if it wants to be a hang out area a resturant or its a storage area its just chairs thrown around everywhich way. The front desk clerk take about 10ish minutes to get each person sorted not bad timing even though shes not the friendliest person to work a counter its fine its nearly midnight. as the 3rd person is getting checked in a dominoes delivery driver comes in and she stops him say the resident needs to come down he ask her to call as he doesnt have a phone for the room he with patience of a god waited the entire time she checked some one into see if shed call spolier no after he asked her again she said theres no one in the room number he provided ( he went to his car and i assume the store called the person cause they came down to collect) . While i was being checked in the lady answered a phone call and instead of hold she just mouth to me and finished the call. upon getting to my 1st room it was unbearably hot i tried to turn the ac on and nope nothing didnt ever power up the thermostat was disconnected from the wifi/unit. I go downstairs stairs and complain and get moved from the 4th floor to the 15 a room with a balcony and exactly the same layout. still with the dry heat pumping full blast i opened the door and let some fresh cold air in and the unit worked so as the room cooled i went to get food came back ate and when i went to thrrow out the trash in the hall garbage i found the communal microwave ( looked like it would shock you to use plug hanging out a missing ceiling tile) next to the broken ice machine. That was my first 4 hour at the hotel upon waking up i went to go see about breakfast cause they say its offerred and i assumed it would be complimentary nope its just the returant that looked like it was out of my price range for breakfast lukily there is a bojangles a short drive away. All in all i am used to staying in fairfields and marriott hotels for about the same price. This hotel told me while booking online 147 (and 12 parking if you look around the site) when i checked in was told 187 cause they put 50 on hold for incidentals. I dont know about anyone else if i book online on a company website not a 3rd party it should be the full price and the math should addup. Also my room cards were deactivated 15 mins before 11 when check out time is ihave never been so glad to leave a hotel. I hope who ever reads all this please either fix the place up or look elsewhere to stay cause this place isnt worth even 1/2 the...
Read moreI was in town for a work project & my first stay at a Sonesta hotel since I moved from Fla. The hotel's location was close to only a couple places to eat within walking distance, otherwise you needed a car or Uber. My overall stay was not bad, rooms are clean, nice bed linens with soft pillows & they do accommodate for feather allergies. My room was on the 19th floor & had a nice view towards the downtown area. 4 elevators that were all functional & not a long wait during the busy times of the morning to get down stairs, which was a plus. My stay was on the longer side, (2 wks.) What was frustrating to me is the fact they advertise refrigerators in the rooms, when in fact they are "wine chillers" I had to throw out more than half my food items by day 3, because the "refrigerator" didn't keep the food cold enough!! A couple of my co-workers also had to do the same with food & fruit items they bought. Same goes for left overs. I did mention this to the front desk staff, but the only suggestion was to possibly place my items in the staff refrigerator. Not convenient for me I might add! Microwaves are not in the rooms, but are on each even numbered floor, so when I needed to use the microwave, I walked down 1 flight to the 18th floor, again not convenient but tolerable. The other thing I found frustrating was there are no laundry facilities on-site. Again, I asked the front desk staff about any laundromat or laundry services close by, but was told "they didn't know of any" I would think that for guests with stays, longer than a few days, working in conjunction with a laundromat or or a fold & go service could be a service offered to guests or even the option to use the laundry facilities of the Hilton (which we found out, will be closing soon for some much needed renovations), or Wyndam hotels that are next to Sonesta. So, at the end of my stay, I had to pack & brought home all my dirty laundry. Again, the 2 biggest things that warranted the 3 stars. The breakfast buffet is served daily, decent choices for food items, from scrambled eggs, to French toast, hot/cold cereals, juices, coffee, danishes, muffins, that cost about $15.There is a nice sized parking lot in front of the hotel, easily accessible to your vehicle. Lastly, there's no shuttle services being offered at this time, so plan on using Uber a lot, unless you have your own...
