Was out looking for a quick eat. It had been 10 years since I have previously visited this location. 10 years ago was much better than currently. Let me give a breakdown of the events on Friday, 4/13. Upon arrival, the building all looked the same. The landscaping was ran down out front as well as a coiled up garden hose across the walkway. The foot path coming out of the restaurant was disgusting. There was dirt/grease caked up, several millimeters as you enter the door on the ground. The interior had not changed. The walls, floors, hood vents and grills were all dirty. The hood vent did not have a drip pan in the slot. It was covered up with a grease soaked kitchen towel. The grill we were at was turned way too hot and emitted a horrible burnt grease smell the entire time we sat waiting for our food. After salads and soups which were pretty good, the waitress kept coming back stating the chef would be right here. There were no other chefs on the floor at the time so a shortage was not an issue. After 45 minutes of sitting down, the chef arrived. This chef was honestly the best chef I've seen at a hibachi place. He was really good with his hands, had great tricks to keep entertained and had a great personality. He really was great however not clean at all. His uniform was filthy, he shows up to a new, fresh grill with the previous rag from his last table. I saw MANY cross contamination violations as we were eating. He would serve hot, cooked vegetables, noodles and rice just after flipping the raw chicken, seafood and steak then wiping it between his sandwiched rags. This happened throughout the meal. What did it for me was when we got to the point of where meat was done. The chef started serving far left. He served the other party a serving of shrimp. This person immediately let him know she did not order shrimp and did not want it. The chef picked it off her plate that she had been eating off of with the same grill spatula and fork and proceeded to put it on OUR PLATES!! After I let him know that was not cool, he requested more shrimp from the back. We couldn't eat more at this point. I was sickened. I went to the manager on duty. She blew off everything I stated to her what happened and she replied with the comment of "Oh yeah, all of our chefs do that, except the issue with getting served food from someone else's plate." What are these people doing in the back if they do not think twice about give you others food that was picked over right in front of the entire table? We quit eating after this mishap, notified management, left and will never, ever go back. Reading reviews it seems as if a good quality restaurant here is a thing of the past. Also, upon browsing here, some of the images (first 2 or 3) uploaded for 'this location' by owner is actually another location,...
Read moreWe were in town yesterday and decided to end our day with a fun meal out with our friends. We got to the restaurant and they were not busy at all so we were able to be sat pretty quickly, but we felt so rushed from the minute we sat down. Barely had time to look over the menu. The waitress seemed like they wanted to get us out of there as soon as possible. I was given the wrong drink (the waitress didn't write anything down), but didn't even bother to try and get it fixed bc of how rushed she was making me feel. Well, the chef comes out and is setting up and there were 3 people in our party allergic to seafood (they had told the waitress) and we just reminded the chef of which ones were allergic and his response was "Yeh I already know". Very rude. We have been to Kabuto's more times than I can count in different cities so we know what to expect and we knew the chef's usually do a few tricks on the grill which are always fun (especially since we had kids with us that love to see those things). Well, our ONE trick was him lighting the grill on fire. This chef barely said anything to us the entire time he was cooking for us and kept looking around and behind him like he wanted to be somewhere else and was hating every moment he was cooking for us. When he was handing out our food he was literally flinging it onto our plates. I couldn't tell you how much of our food landed on the table or in bowls of other food. It was by far the worst experience I have ever had in a Kabuto's or similar style restaurant. I was looking around to see how the other chefs were treating their tables and the other chefs were laughing and joking around with their tables. I'm very disappointed in our treatment and experience and will definitely not...
Read moreUpdate: I talked to the manager Roberto, who seemed very genuine and apologetic for the bad service. He offered to make this right and I believed he would have if I gave him the opportunity. His response matched the high standard that I was used to from Kabutos. I'll give him a 5 star rating for his effort. Unfortunately, I'm just not willing to go back.
Original post: I go to Kabutos very often but I normally dine in so I'm very familiar with the menu. Today I ordered carry out from the Kabutos website. I will never do this again!!! It's very different when you dine in as opposed to carry out. My veggies were a little burnt, chicken over cooked and dry. I didn't get the ginger dressing for my salad, nor the appetizer shrimp. When I called to speak to someone about it, I was told it doesn't come that way although the website says it does. I then asked for a manager and was told there was not one there right now. I asked for whomever was in charge and was told no one there was in charge and call back tomorrow to talk to the manager. I asked what time he would be there and was told I don't know, could be morning could be evening.
I wasn't going to make a big deal about this because again, I go to Kabutos a lot. My intent was to really just bring it to someone's attention that a few things was missing. The young lady that answered the phone seemed annoyed which is why I asked for a manager. This situation did not have to escalate at all. My whole experience was ruined because of the quality of my food and the service was bad. This has turned me off...
