I went to open a business bank account. When I got there the doors were locked and it was very hot outside. I had to call to get one of the bankers to open the door. She took her time coming to open the door. She did not introduce herself but ask for my name and checked it off a piece of paper she was holding. Once we got in her office she asked me why I was there. Instantly that made me feel like this appointment was not going to go the way I had hoped. Because why did I have to make an appointment and you not already know why I am there. So I gave her my paperwork and I let her know that I am a home based business and that my articles of organization had my registered agents information on there so that my address would not be public. She then went on to say that sheâs not sure theyâre gonna be able to open up a bank account for me because the physical address and whatâs listed on my articles have to match. The day before I spoke to someone on the phone and they said if I had the registration of the business with the physical address on it then that would be fine. So she kept leaving the office to speak with someone I gathered she did not know what she was doing and sheâs not the person who would usually open business accounts. So she came back to the office one more time with my paperwork and call someone on the phone to ask them some questions about opening a business account and the person on the phone and told her that I needed to provide a utility bill to show the physical address. Now in my mind Iâm thinking that a residence cannot have a utility bill in a business name, that was not making sense to me. She did not do anything to alleviate my concerns. she did not say that she knows that I am able to get a utility bill in a business name at my residence. She did not tell me to call the electric company while I was in in her office because the appointment was for an hour and I had only been there 15 minutes. Her attitude was she did not know and she did not care. Finally I asked if this policy of the address having to match on the articles was a banking rule she gave me a very smart reply saying that sheâs only ever worked for Wells Fargo and she doesnât know any other banks policies. Her willingness to assist was non-existent and the blatant disregard of my time...
Read moreOn October 16th I visited this branch. After a bad experience at another branch the previous day, I asked if I could speak to a branch manager. I was immediately told the branch manager was in a meeting and would be in meetings for hours. However, representative who told me this behaved as if she was in charge. I advised her of my experience at the other branch and she asked how she could assist. I once again presented a check to the teller for deposit. The same representative who spoke to me previously, went over the shoulder of the teller, pointed to something at the screen and told me my check was not valid. She then told me to contact the check issuer and ask them what bank would take that check. I left the bank and while still in the parking lot, I contacted the check issuer. I explained to them what happened when I tried to deposit the check and also asked which bank would I be able to deposit the check at. They replied with an amused "Any Bank." Additionally, They were curious why the bank would not deposit the check and asked if they could speak to the representative. I returned to the bank and let the representative know. She immediately said she was not authorized and walked away while the check issuer was still talking.
Considering the check issuer's assurance that any bank would accept the check, I googled the next closest bank which was 5 minutes away. That bank happily accepted that check, opened a checking account for me and a line of credit. Once the check cleared, they deposited it into a money market account so it can accrue interest.
I don't know what is going on at Wells Fargo that caused all of this but the inability to perform simple transactions like opening up a savings account or depositing a check means they are broken as a financial institution. Are their tellers are being told to pass judgement at the window and take it upon themselves to decide who can and cannot deposit checks because they are absolutely doing so. A normal bank would have accepted the check, put a hold on it and wait for it to clear. The fact that this bank took one look at the check and one look at me and told me my valid check was invalid felt like some bias was involved in their decision making. Either way, I will be banking elsewhere...
Read moreWent to the drive thru on 10/25 at 9:15am. Lady at the window seemed nice until she opened the deposit bag. I told her that I had two deposits and needed change in fives. She looked at the amounts and told me that I needed to come in âdue to the large amountsâ and also because she has other customers to tend to as if I wasnât customer as well. There was myself and one other customer in line beside me. Seems as if I racially profiled. Very disappointed, will never visit this location ever again. If I could give 0...
