Costco 100% failed with the entire process of my 2024 American siler eagle (tube of 20) online transaction. I placed the order they took my $669 the order sat in label sent to carrier order complete. 5 days later same status and the only way to contact Costco is via chat and it seems very subbed out to India. I was told the order was still valid and the item was in process, at this time the price had increased to $719. On the 10th day I chatted again was told it was out of stock and I could keep the order or get a refund. I said keep the order 1 hour later and for the next 3 days the website had the eagles available again but at the $719 price. At day 15 again chatted and now the order is lost and asked do I want a reship or a refund. I said reship and I have a screen shot of the ok sir we will reship the order costco takes your gold purchase being lost serious, we're sorry for the inconvenience it will take up to 7 days to get the reship completed and out to you. Seeing it was silver it's obvious the attention to detail was missing at day 20 my account was credited $669 and they are selling it on the site for $719 still. My take is you stole my money for 20 days. I had to tie up about 3 hours of my time chasing down a high dollar transaction. There is no value to this offering. I have had other silver transactions with costco and the shipping service is lacking in general. If I calculate my loss of time in a monetary value and the loss of purchasing power while the price was down there was a negative value to Costcos product. I will not be purchasing anymore silver from Costco it is not worth the headache for about a $50 savings verses dealers. I will continue to buy from the US Mint or SD or JM Bullion. I feel like this was a dishonest transaction from Costco if it was in reverse where I paid more for the product and their cost was lower now they would have held me to the transaction. I count on reviews to make my decisions when I shop and it is hard to navigate with all of the fake reviews out there. I have made 4 purchases from Costco 3 were Maples and this being the 4th but eagles. The other 3 orders were very slow to deliver. There was no accurate time frame of delivery and signature required holds you hostage to wait for a very vague time frame for delivery. I think costco has great value for many items, just not this one for me. I have seen many like comments recently for the same issue I encountered. The other concerning thing is hearing seals are broken on some of the tubes. If you are a coin person you know how hard it is to break a seal on a factory product. It leaves one to wonder if there are some rogue employees swapping out the product with some Chinese fakes. It's not like the average person would know and if they did find out it's all sales final and the burden of proof is with the consumer. It’s our 40th wedding anniversary so I wanted to purchase a diamond ring for her to honor her on that occasion. I found the ring and placed the order. I checked my bank account a little later and saw where the funds had been withdrawn. A little later I received an email from Costco saying the order had been cancelled. I called customer service, who was very nice and professional, and was told they didn’t understand why the order was cancelled. After some group discussion it was determined they did not know for sure that I was in fact me. I was going to have to drive to the warehouse and show ID proving that I was in fact me. So this was my response to this, first- you have MY money, it’s been taken out of my account, which the lady immediately replied that the money wasn’t the issue, we have that. Second- you have the ring, so you have my money and my ring, which customer service said yes. Third - the ring is being delivered to your warehouse, which means YOU will still have my money and the ring, which customer service said that’s correct. Forth - I have to show my card to get into your warehouse, correct, answer was yes. Fifth - I have to show proof with a picture ID and proof of the order before you will give me that ring, and the answer was that’s correct. So why can’t I prove who I am at that time. Customer service was quite and responded with that makes perfect sense to me but it’s not our policy.
